  1. Great news, will be good to visit the building again.
  2. You can now go inside Krakatoa bar on Google Streetview.
  3. Apple Sourz and cheap cola does not go well together.
  4. I have drank some but cannot be arsed measuring so will list their contents as if full. Sainsbury's Basics Vodka 70cl, Captain Morgan's Original Spiced Gold 1L and a bottle of Apple Sourz.
  5. Was eating at Five Guys Dundee today alone and it's Free drink refills. Well I went up to get more and a staff member put my stuff in the bin. They weren't to know and this was my fault as I should have left something on the seat. It was an easy mistake to make. Well they apologized and not only did they give me a replacement portion of fries they gave me a voucher for a free full meal on my next visit worth £15. ACE-IC Good Customer Service even though it was not their fault.
  6. How did they get so many people attend their first gig?
  7. My mum's side originate from Fraserburgh too. I have never been though.
  8. Just curious when was the last time you went to Krakatoa (Moorings)?
  9. Sorry to change my avatar so quickly but the sight of McDonald's was getting annoying. I did not know what to pick so decided to go for Jack Black who is one of my favorite people.
  10. 2011 I feel that Subway on Back Wynd closing is significantly worse that Pizza Hut closing.
  11. The 2 bands playing Krakatoa tonight seem tempting.
  12. Not recently but I did see Das McManus a while back. I have also seen a cabaret band in Drummonds but I don't think they were local. I do plan to go to more.
  13. Last gig: The Prodigy at The AECC - November 2015. Next gig: Muse at The SSE Hydro - April 2016.
  14. Sorry to revive this thread but I was looking into Liam to see if he progressed. Well he has deleted the initial song and all his Aberdeen video's. He now speaks with a "fake?" American accent and has masked his history. Overall he only really does covers but he did collaborate with Lia Marie Johnson and Shane Dawson who you may know from React series on The Fine Bros channel which is quite good for an unknown Aberdonian. Yeah, so he may not have become the next big thing but he actually did alright for himself.
  15. This is from yesterday but my brain did not think to post. The new development at the beach where Jimmy Chung's used to be has been hit by set backs. Pier Bistro were to move into the new build with Gourdon chip shop Hornblowers who would have opened with a 1950's style ice cream parlour attached. Due to delay's in the project Hornblowers have pulled out. They were not happy with timescale. It's a shame since it's only just recently started to be built. They are looking for alternative Aberdeen locations. I feel they may have cowboy builders since I have seen quite obvious health and safety violations on the building site. A new 'Bespoke' barber is to open on Belmont Street called Mr Dunn located next door to Belmont Filmhouse. I don't normally post this but it's been quite prominent in the news. Some people Petrol bombed Dyce Police Station located at the Primary School.
  16. I'm now in my 20's. I was 14 when I joined this forum.
  17. On the topic of McDonald's there is a new one opening at Kittybrewster Retail Park next to Pure Gym. 2 Floors with a double drive thru.
  18. Yes, It's quite new. It's inside the Spar on Victoria Road. I think it's takeaway only.
  19. Interesting question. Well I mulled it over and I thought 'How will I find out?' well I thought Sandwich shop, oh yes. They will have needed to file planning permission with the council to change the use of the unit. So I searched the Aberdeen City Council planning application search which is available to everyone online and I discovered the following: Subway Back Wynd opened in late 2004. Having previously been a Chalmers bakery. Subway Holburn Junction opened in Mid 2004. Having previously been various insurances places. It gets interesting though later in the year they applied to open Sunday - Thursday 9am-11pm and Friday and Saturday until 2am. This was approved but the next year they changed it to remove late opening at the weekend. Did anyone ever see Subway open that late? Subway Cults opened at some point in 2007.
  20. Just thinking I did the same with Starbucks but this might be useful. You can find Subway at: 198 Union Street, Union Square, Robert Gordon's University (closed Sat-Sun), University of Aberdeen (closed Sat-Sun), North Deeside Road, Cults, Tesco Danestone, Clifton Road (inside Spar), Byron Square (Inside Spar), Kincorth (Inside Spar), Jesmond Drive (next to Asda), Torry (Inside Spar), Mastrick Shopping Centre (Inside Spar). Banchory High Street, Inverurie Town Centre, Peterhead, Portlethen, Westhill and Stonehaven (Inside Spar).
  21. In order to conduct an autopsy we need to first differentiate the franchises. The Back Wynd was operated standalone from the rest which are owned by a big franchise company which own all in Aberdeen and Dundee except Back Wynd. First lets investigate the Holburn Junction branch. This was the first in the city opening in 2004 and in recent times was looking quite tatty. I am not actually sure but I think the new one next to the Music Hall was designed to replace it and relocate to a new more central location. When the Holburn one closed it had a sign in the window saying "closed for refurbishment". This has since been taken down. This of course may not be true since it might have been an independent franchise too but I really don't know. Social Bite have opened next door but probably unconnected to closure since it opened after Subway closed. I think it might been a relocation job. The Back Wynd location is a confusing one since it always seemed to be busy especially at lunch time with the college students and Robert Gordon's/Grammar pupil's. It closed all of a sudden with everything still there now with no notice on the window or anything. Just closed and taken off the website. I really don't know why this one closed. Maybe the landlord raised the rent. The new Union Street (Music Hall) location was busy with schoolkids when I was in. What really pisses me off is they never clean there shop. Rubbish all over the tables constantly. You would think they would have someone on the shop floor rather than all behind the counter. With those 2 closed the first and second respectively that were opened in the city. The oldest Subway in Aberdeen will now be I think North Deeside Road, Cults. I might be wrong on that. It's a shame that the Back Wynd location closed since it was nice and friendly. The people who own the other ones and not nice people and they don't treat their staff nicely. I have a friend on the inside and sometimes does not get his contracted hours.
  22. My avatar is the logo of international burger chain McDonalds with the slogan and tag line "I'm lovin it" which was penned by international music artist Justin Timberlake in the early 2000's. I have attached said song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-IHcp8Pl_X4
