I am currently researching the music scene in Aberdeenshire and would like to find out from local musicians how they find the overall experience of life in Aberdeen’s music scene. The aim of this is find out how musicians promote their music, find venues to play their music in and to get an overall idea of music services provided in Aberdeenshire. Q1. Do you employ an agent to find you work? Q2. Do you rely on social networking sites such as facebook, myspace etc to promote your music? Q3. If you don’t use social networks what other way do you promote your music. Q4. Do feel there are enough services locally for you to successfully promote your music? Q5. What improvements would you like to see on the services available? Q6. What do you feel is missing, if anything, from the music scene in Aberdeenshire? Q7. thanks to everyone for your input greatly appreciated.!! the reason why i asked the question was to find out if aspiring musicians found it easy enough to get gigs themselves. my dad played all over scotland for the best part of 30 years whilst my mum did all the bookings for him and a good few other bands, and seemed to do quite well from it. anyway i am trying to research as much as possible into the promotion/booking side of things to see if iT can be improved and made easier for musicians to get gigs in aberdeen and aberdeenshire. i have a few ideas i would like to develop if there are bands or artists finding it hard to get gigs or getting there music out to people. if anybody is interested in helping develop some ideas just get in touch ... thanks to all who replied to my first question!!

i get where your coming from i am just trying to find out the best way of getting gigs and how other local musicians go about this?

can anyone tell me how hard or easy it is to find work in aberdeen as a musician?? do musicians find their own work or hire someone else to do it for them? are there any recommended agency's or agents that musicians use? if anyone can tell me more about this would be greatly appreciated??
