  1. Oxes - 'Dear Spirit, I'm in France' Kong - 'Leather Penny'
  2. I got the new album at the weekend, really liking it. This gig should be a hoot.
  3. Hopefully 2012 will prove to be better then! I've been to a few good gigs since I've moved up and missed a couple through laziness so I probably shouldn't grumble.
  4. I've only been living in Aberdeen for about 4 months now so this is a pretty interesting thread to me because so far I've found it shit compared to anywhere else I've ever lived. At the risk of being told to fuck off and move somewhere else, it just doesn't have as much to offer me as the other places I've lived (This is the sixth place I've lived for longer than a couple of months). I totally agree that the NE of Scotland is magic in terms of walking etc, which I love, but if you're happy to drive a couple of hours out of most Scottish cities you can do something pretty interesting. To end this incoherent, half-cut addition, the reason I joined this forum is because I like music and going to gigs and for whatever reason there's just not as many gigs that I want to go to here and it's a fucking trek to Edinburgh / Glasgow. Also, I'm pretty sure (and hopeful) that there are many interesting places in Aberdeen that I am yet to discover.
  5. Kraftwerk Pinback The Austerity Program Lightning Bolt Fantomas (I would have loved to see them doing the whole of the Director's Cut at ATP a few years ago) Venetian Snares Sonic Youth Going to ATP and Primavera Sound a few times has been a good way to reduce the list for me!
  6. Pretty sure ATP put out a statement saying it was nothing to do with Jeff Mangum that it's cancelled but they've not given a reason yet. Total shiter for everyone that booked their travel in advance.
  7. You can stream the album here Sounds good but my terrible laptop speakers are not quite doing the tesla coil justice.
  8. Can't wait for this, t.a.w.f.a.w.w is one of my favourite albums this year.
  9. The new Lite album, For All the Innocence, is ace. I just found out that there is a new Hella album too which is sounding bloody good on first listen: Hella - Tripper
  10. That made me feel sick but then again I'm not even a big fan of roller coasters.
  11. This is a great thread, the best gig question is a difficult one and got me thinking I need to go to more gigs. First Gig- Idlewild supported by Laeto and someone else I can't remember at the Marriot Hall in Dundee 2001. As far as I remember it was spot on but I have a terrible memory so they may well have been turd. Best Gig- Shellac at the Liquid Rooms in 2004 because they were my favourite band at the time (probably still are) and I left the place with my face hurting because I was grinning so much throughout. They were probably a bit better at 10 Years of ATP in 2009 but you can't beat seeing your favourite band for the first time. Mastodon at Rock City in Nottingham last year is up there too as it was just ridiculously metal and funny. Worst Gig - Not too sure about this. I've certainly sat through some terrible bands but ones I can remember walking out of are the Gza in Edinburgh a couple of years ago and Kasabian at the new(er) Westport Bar in Dundee when they were touring their first album. I can't remember why but they must have been awful if I left.
