  1. So back to my original point then - you're charging a fee for promoting your magazine and offering the bands nothing? Still doesn't add up. As someone above has said, there are many not-for-profit organisations in Aberdeen who still pay bands when charging a fee for what is essentially a service. Appreciate that your magazine needs funding but this shouldn't come at the band's expense - have you looked into advertising within the magazine for example? Setting up a table to sell merchandise isn't a big enough incentive either.
  2. That tiki bar place sounds fucking amazing!
  3. Are they a band you could sell tickets for? As in, are they known enough in Aberdeen to sell tickets? If not, get a decent couple of support acts who will bring in a crowd and make sure to pay them. I reckon The Blue Lamp would be your best shot. I'd like to go to this, something a bit different innit?
  4. Monday night works for me - my number is 07854848534, I can pick it up then?
  5. Hi DB, apologies for not collecting that stand, not been in Aberdeen for a while. Can collect it next weekend? Big kisses xxx
  6. Love it mate, where about are you based and when can I pick it up?
  7. Taking the missus there next weekend for some food, sounds really cool though
  8. I still don't understand what this Last Bus place is? A music venue with a cafe, themed around a bus depot? With a carriage with a bed in it for.......decoration? It looks fucking ace and my missus is a vegetarian so would be great to take her there for some food as there are such limited places that do decent veggie food in Aberdeen
  9. Anyone got some old synth/keyboardy bits and pieces lying about they no longer use? Looking to experiment a wee bit so everything considered! Doesn't necessarily even have to be working. Cheers
  10. Imprinted - what's the R32 like to live with? I'm starting a new job and have a 'car allowance' so looking at letting the missus drive the ST and seriously considering an R32.
  11. Oh aye you played with Mitch? Really enjoyed you guys. Cheers for the feedback - we've got a gig at the Lemon Tree on May 26th supporting Revere, and we're playing a music night at Downstairs at the end of June. Concentrating on writing just now.
  12. This weekend will be a good one hopefully; Friday - quiet night at home with the Missus. We've just moved house and should have everything done for Friday so will relax with some booze. Saturday - Golfing in the morning, then pick my brother and some mates up and head back to mine for beers in the garden (if it's sunny). Attending the 30 year Gothenburg anniversary meal at night at the Treetops. Hopefully get lots of drunken photos with ex Aberdeen players. Sunday - die and then golf.
  13. Nah it's a 2.5l Turbo Volvo engine I believe. It's very quick and the RS is a bit too powerful for what it is. I test drove one and it wheel spun constantly and every time I turned a corner, I thought I was going to die. Also, the seats aren't comfy. The ST I've got is the ST3 with full leather heated seats and heated windscreen. I live in Balmedie and work in Westhill and it averages 21.9MPG which is a little expensive. But it's fun.
  14. Hi All, New Uniform single 'Hide Your Eyes' - please excuse the dodgy video, we were all extremely hungover. Feedback appreciated Cheers Mark
  15. How's it going Ian? You wanting rid of them?
  16. Cheers mate. Our singer's Dad used to be a Sound Engineer so our guitarist is currently using one of Gary Numan's old flight cases Looking for one for our bass player now.
  17. Big enough to stick a guitar/bass amp on
  18. Anyone have any old flight cases they no longer want?
  19. My band are looking into buying a transit van and turning it into a 'band van' with plenty seats in the back with a table but still having plenty of room to transport a full backline. Now the plan is, when we're not using it, to rent it out to other bands at a day rate as the cost for renting out vans from local companies can be a little much (especially when you're away for a week or so!). Would this be something that fellow bands would be keen on?
  20. I played in bands all throughout my teenage years but stopped playing when I was about 20 or so. Even sold all my drums, cymbals and hardware. It's only the last 2 years I've started mucking about - I booked a couple of solo hours in Captain Toms and just got back playing and loved it. Amazing how much you don't realise that you miss playing. I came on here, found a band looking for a drummer and a year and a half later I'm still with the same band making good music (I think) and love playing again. There are times where you're downbeat (after a really shitty songwriting session or a terrible gig for example) but ultimately I still enjoy it overall. I do get really really wound up when I feel that other members of the band aren't pulling their weight enough but that's more me being a drama queen than anything.
  21. Where's the incentive for bands to play it? The way it looks from here is that you're selling tickets for a gig and paying the bands nothing - appreciate it's a fundraiser but a 3-4 song set is really short - also, if you're only looking for that short a set, there must be a few bands you'll need to play it. 3-4 songs is approx 10-15 mins set.
  22. I honestly have no idea, they're decent enough just a bit old.
