  1. My thoughts exactly Jan - first weekend in November falls neatly on the 31st Oct and 1st Nov. Would want to do it in one venue, rather than having several. Bands would be paid.
  2. Morning All, Been toying with the idea of potentially putting on a mini music-fest later in the year. I went to Wake the Deen last year and enjoyed it, even if it was a little heavier music than I normally listen to. It got me thinking - what if there was another music-fest but with slightly less heavy bands. More indie, poppy or electronic. A late afternoon/night event with a number of bands playing say, half hour sets each. Wondered if there would be sufficient interest for such an event? Would appreciate any thoughts or suggestions or just opinions?
  3. Joda Serk - cheers. Slayer will not be played though. Ever.
  4. Oh Runcie drunk is a fucking animal. When we toured 2 years ago, he wakened in the van still pissed and decided to go and have a pee up against someone's garage. This was about 9 in the morning and folk were heading to work/kids going to school. Also had to stop the van on the dual carriageway, just before the bridge after Perth heading to Glasgow so he could be sick. Great guy. Think DJ have been on the go for a while, with a few hiatus. As far as I know, the drummer (whose name escapes me) and Calum have always been doing it, Runcie joined maybe a year or so ago.
  5. I think they actually are going to gig a little more often now. Agreed - all really nice lads too. Runcie played with us for a while and is a top, top chap.
  6. Oh - I quite like the Marionettes. Some of their stuff is decent. I also like Dear John a lot.
  7. I saw him do comedy once at Korova. He was offensive and amusing.
  8. Exactly Milner, it's peoples' opinions. How can an opinion be wrong? Also, who's shooting you down about ML? May be missing something.
  9. Yeah, I've been told to mount the speakers on stands if I can, away from the turntable itself so it doesn't vibrate in any way. Just looking for a decent 'starter kit' to be honest.
  10. Haha, agreed. Watching High Fidelity the other night probably boosted my desire for vinyl also. I don't want to fall into the 'hipster cunt' category by just collecting it for the sake of it, I actually want to listen to it as well. BUY MORE VINYL
  11. I kind of got the same impression - my brother is well into his vinyl and let me hear a Smiths album and how you can fiddle with the pitch etc. It sounded amazing, genuinely better than any MP3 or CD or download I've got. He's got a shitey old gramophone he inherited from my father and it still sounded great. MP3's are great for music on the go, but I'm moving house at the end of the week and would love to drive my missus mad with a home set up.
  12. I liked Snafu - went to DHC a few times, played DHC once and another gig on a Thursday for another night, can't remember what it was. Also went to a comedy night there. I liked it as it had a really great rum selection. But it smelled like spew a bit. The club, not the rum.
  13. So, after not believing that vinyl was worth it, my brother played me an old album and the sound quality was incredible. As such, I'd like to get myself a turntable/record player but have no idea where to start. Any advice or tips on what to start with? I'd be looking for something to set up at home, and be playing mostly old albums. Ta
  14. Bands in Aberdeen I like Little Kicks - their album launch for Put Your Love in Front of Me was brilliant - very creative and love the album itself. Audiokicks - played with them a few times and love the singer's voice. Das McManus - inventive and interesting. Some of Oliver Richards' solo stuff is good Deportees' set at String She Pulled was fantastic Casino Circus - band from Ellon, seen them at a Capt Tom's showcase and was mightily impressed Bands that are no longer together that I like Stayover - classic pop/punk, saw them at Wake the Deen and loved it I also quite liked Cielo Rosso. Bands in Aberdeen that I dislike (hate is a very strong word) Miss Lucid - nothing against them personally at all - Dan is a lovely guy and I'd know Kev to say 'hello' to and is always a decent guy - don't know the rest of them. Just not a fan of their music at all. I did enjoy a gig we played with them at Captain Tom's when the singer was pretty pissed and almost fell backwards into the drumkit. That made me smile. Afghan Hounds - not my bag Second Star - bit too Backstreet Boys for me. Their video is all pointing at the camera, winking and smiling. Bleugh. Guttergodz - that may be as I'm not a 'heavier' rock fan
  15. girl anachronism - I think we (Uniform) played that gig as well and I seem to remember it. Hilariously ironic and ridiculous claim.
  16. I'm a coffee wanker. Got a Nespresso machine from my girlfriend for my birthday. I don't like the full fat milk, it's too creamy so drink 'skinny' coffee, making me possibly the biggest coffee wanker on here.
  17. I went down - highlights for me were Dear John, Deportees (harmonies were ace) and T13. Great night.
  18. I absolutely fucking love documentaries about serial killers.
  19. "I was up at 6am this morning, fed my kids, cleaned the house, bathed them at night and put them to bed" Fantastic. You look after your kids. Chocolate star on the way.
  20. Big bowl of boiling water with a spoon of Vicks Vaporub, lean over it and stick a towel over your head and breathe deeply. Blow your nose/cough up the shite and get rid of it. Also, Sudafed and hot drinks, and heaps of sleep.
  21. Unexpected morning blowjob before work today. Just fantastic.
  22. As above - PM if you know anyone who has any to sell.
