  1. Adam, an album would be lovely. If you're not locked in a practice space
  2. Yeah - next 2 weeks hopefully! Between getting married and my wife also falling pregnant, I've been really busy - end of August there will be an announcement
  3. Looking for a bass player who can do backing vocals also to join myself and a guitarist/singer to have a little jam session every week at Captain Toms. Original material written and ready to go. Pretty laid back stuff. Get in touch.
  4. As above - looking for 2 tickets for the 15th October. Ta
  5. Just caught up Marionettes' latest release, 'Wisdom to the Wise' and I rather like it. Also eagerly anticipating Dear John's album in September.
  6. Hi All, Just a wee update - going well thus far, venue has been very receptive to ideas and I'm in the process of booking a number of bands. Stage has been organised and hired, wrist bands have been ordered and some sponsors agreed with! I'M EXCITED! Any bands keen on playing, any acoustic acts keen on playing, any sponsors keen on sponsoring - please get me at aberdeenindiefest@gmail.com Cheers xxx
  7. The Aberdeen 'scene' is actually fairly diverse. There are plenty of electronic/dancey type bands, heavy metal, sleazy rock, indie pop, experimental stuff, acoustic loveliness, rappers, punk and a lot of shite. Plenty if you actually looked.
  8. It was. Alkaline, I have your email and I have replied to it.
  9. Indie/alt preferably. What did you have in mind?
  10. Facebook page up and running www.facebook.com/aberdeenindiefest
  11. CONFIRMED FOR NOV 1ST. A 1 day event with live bands in Exodus and an acoustic stage in Triple Kirks. If you or your band are interested in playing either, please get in touch at aberdeenindiefest@gmail.com Cheers
  12. Cowdray Hall looks cracking. Sure I could hire a pop up bar. Nov 1st is the confirmed date though!
  13. The courtyard outside the Academy can do acoustic and acoustic only. The Tivoli costs a bomb and I've yet to meet with the guys who run Cowdray Hall - is there a bar in there? Tunnels is also booked for the 1st November. BUT FEAR YE NOT - I HAVE OTHER PLACES TO GO AND SEE/MEET WITH. Hang tight.
  14. Not even so much due to the clientele Matt, moreso the realism of putting a gig on in there (it's the clientele).
  15. Meeting with Exodus next week to discuss. Think my plan is to try and do it in one day, rather than spreading it across 2 days/nights. Exodus has the potential of having an acoustic stage downstairs in Triple Kirks. I've also contacted a couple of more well-known-outside-Aberdeen bands who would be interested in playing the gig. Also going to take a wander through town today on my lunch hour to see if I can scope out any more potential venues. I'd absolutely love to do something in Enigma but there's not much I can do there unfortunately, plus noise levels would be an issue (according to a very helpful woman at the Council I spoke to yesterday). Same goes for Union Terrace Gardens. Judging from the feedback on here, from bands and from the general music-loving population of Aberdeen, there's a decent demand for this. So it's happening.
  16. Exodus could be a great shout. Hotel function room could be decent, if it was not against noise, which some are. I'd love to organise it in Union Terrace Gardens Gladstone, just too much of an ask I think.
  17. Venue suggestions welcome. My thoughts on the 'standard' Aberdeen venues are as below; Tunnels - decent location, 'tried and tested' venue for mini-fest, decent price. Drummonds - not suitable for what I want to put on. Lemon Tree - little more expensive, decent location, 'outside area', excellent standard etc. Downstairs - potentially too small. Cellar - definitely too small. I'd also like a 'think outside the box' type venue, just not sure where?
  18. Aye I had a quick scan of that Jan, will read in depth when I'm home tonight - cheers.
  19. Cheers Moose, was aiming for that, Thanks everyone. Big kiss xx
  20. Looked into a few venues - I really liked the Little Kicks' album launch at the shop in the Academy. Whether or not this is doable is another thing. Also looked into booking the old Enigma but it's not gonna happen.
  21. Will no doubt need a hand with a few things as I'm doing this solo - waiting on Ross Calder coming back with available dates for Tunnels and will be in touch fathand. Cheers
  22. I kind of fancied doing it on Halloween to be honest, might get more people. I wouldn't want to clash or step on the toes of the Wake the Deen guys but haven't seen anything for Hallodeen this year? Also, if I did it on one day, all day, it could be a double edged sword in the sense that people would be hungover on the 1st from Halloween..... Hmmm.......
