  1. Snafu proudly presents... | FELIX DA HOUSECAT | Greg Gibb | Krazzy Martin FRI 18th MAY // £15 // 11pm-3am _____________________________________ Felix is going on a small tour of the UK for a month, so we have guarantees that he can't escape. Tickets will be on sale in The Athenaeum (5 Union St) with no booking fee very soon. The Cat is back. _____________________________________ Official chat // KITTENZ AND THEE GLITZ was an album which turned dance music upside down. DEVIN DAZZLE AND THE NEON FEVER and countless charted remixes from our favourite Aphrohead then cemented his tail in folklore. Still as legendary as ever, Chicago's one and only FELIX DA HOUSECAT has promised to delight Snafu on latest stay in Britain. He is here for a month, so has no where to hide. Over the course of 20 years Felix's determination and willingness to re-invent himself have led to a point that has now included a Grammy nomination, remix work for artists such as Madonna, Garbage, New Order and Giorgio Moroder; to DJ gigs at the world’s most prestigious music festivals. As one of the most influential producers in dance music, Felix da Housecat helped spread acid house in the late 80s and 90s and kickstarted electroclash with his seminal 2001 album ‘Kittenz And Thee Glitz’, as well as huge remixes of SINNERMAN, POP THA GLOCK and TOXIC. Time to teach this pussy a lesson. _____________________________________ n.b He's in the UK for a month, so fingers crossed. We'll get a photo of him on the day with a date/newspaper and outside Triple Kirks or something...

  4. Mixed Bizness returns to Snafu for another irregular party that makes you party regularly. Mia Dora are hotly tipped production duo who, alongside cohorts HaHaHa & Mia Dora, have just released the fantastic High Sheen track for just as hotly tipped Glasgow label High Sheen. Mia Dora have set about developing a truly original house sound, drawing on hip hop and garage, brimming with energy and emotion and sounding like nobody else. Word has soon spread and before long UK hip hop powerhouse Big Dada came looking for a remix for ‘Get The Get’, the lead single from Roots Manuva’s album 4EVEREVOLUTION. Achieved with devestating results, their remix has been held up as one of the tracks of 2011 and has made massive fans of radio DJs like Mary Anne Hobbs, Giles Peterson, Rob Da Bank and Mash, with constant plays on BBC Radio 1, XFM and Capitol Radio. DJs in the know like Sinden, Ben UFO, Disclosure, Eats Everything and Drums of Death have show love as well so you know they're not messing about. Support has continued to flood in with DJ Magazine declaring Mia Dora as one of the main artists to keep tabs on in 2012 with a full page spread covering their plans for the year ahead. 2012 will see their debut ‘Romanticise’ EP released on Glasgow’s fresh faced High Sheen label, a 4 track slice of club jamming house, garage and aqua beats that will see Mia Dora receive in return the love they give to us. There’s so much more to come from Mia Dora and it seems everyone is waiting to hear it first.' Friday 4th May 2012 Snafu Aberdeen 11pm – 3am £5

  8. This event takes place across two venues, will feature film screenings, a DJ set from hotly tipped producer Artifact and some popcorn (three flavours). __________________________________ ARTIFACT // A new generation of producers from Bristol is emerging. When Artifact's "Archaic Line" came out at the beginning of this year Resident Advisor's Andrew Ryce called it "one of those moments where an artist is finally realizing his potential all at once". Artifact, with releases on Local Action, his own Deadplate imprint and mastering that "twitchy technoid brand of bass music compatible with both modern deep house and the old Chicago stuff", has turned himself into one of the most hotly tipped young musicians down south. Working in Germany and growing up in Bristol, a city on the map with Julio Bashmore, Eats Everything and Futureboogie flying the nest over the last few years, gives the young Deadplate producer all the right influences. What to expect? As he puts it best, Artifact brings techno footwork and that bass-heavy garage vibe. A LA FU // Since his early schoolings in the arts of DJing, A La Fu’s skillful endeavor’s soon saw him leave his hometown of Aberdeen to showcase his work in numerous places throughout Europe, Australia, the U.S. and the Middle East, settling for a while in London after having performed at London’s Fabric where he was asked to join the Big Dada label in the role of tour and resident DJ. A La Fu then became resident at Big Dada’s hugely missed GOSH! night at Plastic People as well as touring and performing globally with Roots Manuva, Mike Ladd and almost all the artists on the roster. He has recorded for both Big Dada and Ninja Tune with remix work for Coldcut, Saul Williams and Juice Aleem, recorded the Well Deep series, and also produces the labels official podcast. Amongst his more prestigious accolades, A La Fu was nominated for, and won, a new music award in 2008 from the BBC, has appeared several times on MTV and other networks, notably alongside DJ Kool Herc illustrating the art of DJ’ing, performed for Radio 1’s ‘In New DJ’s We Trust’ and more recently on the Mary Anne Hobbs’ Xfm show. After competing against the Scratch Perverts at the first ever DMC Team Finals, A La Fu then performed at Glastonbury at the request of the Perverts and in the last ten years has held various residencies around the world including Glasgow’s world famous Sub Club. KRAZZY MARTIN // Leader of the pack, head of Everything Else Sucks, general shit stirrer and all round good guy. This gig was made for him. __________________________________ Fri 20th April £5 adv (no booking fee) £6 otd adv tokens from The Athenaeum - Monday 16th April __________________________________ Pre party film screening & DJ set www.facebook.com/events/175655592555644/
