  1. It was great to have you out there Frosty! We'll get some more drumming out of you next time! I'll blend in to the back and play a few chords for once!!! It was a really good jam last month, some really fancy playing on some classic songs! You just now there will be some real rocking when Mr. Wah-Wah hits the stage! Always great to see. Everyone should come along and sit in for a bit, we could have the next super group somewhere in the mix! ha ha! See you in January!
  2. Looking for a singer and a drummer to join a covers band. We started off jamming a few tracks that our bassist has been learning to get him used to playing in a band and we want to get a few others involved to have a laugh and to play some music. End goal would be to gig, but more important on having fun and jamming just now. Let me know if you are keen to come and hang out!! Few artists we would like to cover - Nirvana, The Clash, The Ruts, The Specials, Green Day. Few songs we have played - Come as you are, I fought the law, London's calling, Babylon's Burning, Ghost Town, Know Your Enemy, Lithium etc. Looking to be quite a varied list for now and keen to play a bit of everything!! Cheers.
  3. There are a few places you can go and practice, Captain Toms, D:Range and Musical Vision - all have decent kits already in the rooms. If it's just for a practice, why would you lug all your own gear? I could understand doing it once or twice before you go into recording to get a good feel for your kit, but for the bulk of it, I doubt you care how the kit sounds for a pracitce session. I know a few folk who have done their recording at D:Range using the house kit - the place is a bit of an undiscovered gem and everything is in great condition. Being a drummer myself, I used to pop into Tom's during my lunch break once or twice a week just to keep the practice going before I got my own setup done at home and before my work became a bit more strict!! The other option you have I guess is to go down the electronic kit route - dont think i would do this myself though!! But if it keeps you going it might be worth it. Or silent stroke mesh heads for your acoustic kit in the house (if you could just squeeze up your kit).
  4. It's been a while since I've posted this topic on here, but in that period of time we have been working hard on the songs and have set up a gig on the 20th November!! It's at the Old Kings Highway on the green! We are working out some final details for the night but it will be free entry! Check out our Facebook page www.facebook.com/thepettythingsaberdeen where we will keep you up to date with details for the night. Whilst you are there give us a wee 'like' and hopefully we can get some more gigs booked up in the coming months!! Hopefully see a good few of you there on the night!! Cheers!

  6. A lot of people have said its a good project and would love to come and see it. To all those people, if you have any support slots please get in touch, we would love to play. We are still looking!!!
  7. Good morning, I started a Tom Petty Tribute / covers group last year and after much work with the guys we are now in a position to look for some gigs. If anyone knows of any open slots then please get in touch to discuss. We are itching to get out and play now, so anything would be considered. Thanks Scott.
  8. Looking for a competent keys player that is available. PM me for more information if you are interested. Thanks Scott.
  9. I might be interested for bass duties?
  10. Hi, I'm looking for a keys player to join our Tom Petty band. Everyone else is in place and are currently refining 13 songs. Our keys player has recently left the group leaving us short. If you think you fit the bill then get in touch with me and we can get you into our next practice on the 14th July. Regular practice sessions have been booked at Captain Toms. Thanks Scott.
  11. Awesome, any more takers?
  12. I am thinking about starting a scottish music group, My idea consists of covering some of scottish music's best bands including but not limited to Runrig, Wolfstone, Peatbog Faeries etc. and playing most of their songs as they have been recorded. The other thing I would be keen to throw into this mix would be covering the rock side of scottish music including gaslight anthem, big country, proclaimers, biffy clyro etc. but re-doing these songs to suit the folk style, so playing the songs with accordians and fiddles instead of heavy guitar riffs. I think it would be a good laugh if nothing else, but certainly see some mileage with it with no end to the amount of songs that could be thrown into the mix. There is nothing to stop us switching the styles of music, for example playing some runrig with heavy electric guitar and biffy clyro with fiddles. To even get this off the ground I would be looking for practically everyone, which would include Vocals (Gaelic speaking would be huge bonus), backing vocals, guitars, accordian, fiddle, bag pipes and piano / keyboard. If this sounds remotely interesting to you or you have some ideas on what we could do with the concept then feel free to get in touch. I literally have an idea and would love to push it forward into something enjoyable. Thanks Scotty.
  13. We require a front man for our Tom Petty tribute band. We are regularly jamming with our backing vocals providing lead vocals just now. To keep pushing forward we really need a main vocalist. Ideally you will sound like Tom, however, close will more than do. Ideally you will also provide some rhythm guitar, but not a necessity. If you want to come along for a jam and try out then let me know. We are all commited musicians and the expectation is regular gigging near or far. Rehersals are normally at Captain Toms on a weeknight that suits. Please feel free to get in touch.
  14. Hi guys, we are still looking for a Tom. Anyone interested?
  15. Still in need of a Tom, are you keen???
