DEADBOY (Numbers) Although he only has two singles to his name, in the swiftly moving world of UK bass music, South East London DJ/producer Deadboy is practically a veteran. After the appearance of his sublime U Cheated EP, the Numbers squad snatched him up and released the even bigger "If U Want Me," which solidified his penchant for swinging garage beats and pitch-shifted vocal snippets. You could describe Deadboys music as heartache for the dancefloor. Tapping into Londons rich musical heritage from Scott Walker to early 90s Hardcore all the way through to UK Garage and House, Deadboys tracks somehow still share the same sense of futuristic melancholia as the first wave of Detroit Techno by the likes of Derrick May and Juan Atkins. EGYPTRIXX (Night Slugs) Since the projects inception in 2008, Toronto-based, Egyptrixx has been piquing the interest of an exponentially increasing amount of heads. A handful of remixes and EPs, including his awesome The Only Way Up EP for Night Slugs, have seen him continue to permeate the bass scene with his own brand of celestial club music. Pulling together elements of house, techno, dubstep and electronica, Egyptrixx juxtaposes robust rhythms with expansive synths and emotive melodies, and his music never fails to take root itself in both your head and your feet.
