  1. It can be a pain getting hold of him sometimes, just keep trying. Or just go in and see him. I didn't realise they had a PA, is it any good? How much did he charge to use it?
  2. that's fair enough, was expecting it to go for more than 20 at any rate lol...will be in touch
  3. I might take it off you, what's your asking price?
  4. Ha yeah, see what happens man, pretty busy these days myself anyway
  5. check you getting in there just as I send the PM, Rod...little healthy competition eh ;p
  6. zing! Would if we could, dude...good luck
  7. Nobody out there? Didn't hold out high hopes, but just a final bump before I start asking round Uni folk
  8. Hey all, 'Soul Situation' are looking for a new keyboard player. Our previous guy was very talented, but has returned home to Glasgow after finishing his studies. We play a mix of soul, funk and upbeat blues covers, including Superstition, Want you back, Gimme some lovin', Play that funky music, Chain of fools, etc etc. We're currently playing regular paid gigs (pub gigs, so the money doesn't go far between a big band, but it's better than nothing!), and are keen to keep performing. Rehearsals are generally on a Wed or Thurs evening. See our MySpace here to hear some studio tracks, and give me a PM if you're interested! Cheers, Alan.
  9. There's a guy near where I stay who fixed a bump on my upright bass a few months back, he also fitted some winder-adjusters to the bridge for me...did a good job and was very cheap! He builds acoustic guitars and other string instruments as a hobby, but don't know about electric instruments, think he's more of a woodwork guy. Name is Marshall Dow, he has a wee workshop in Newton Dee...recommended for 'classical' strings/acoustic work
  10. Haven't checked out much Donny stuff tbh, need to do so! Heard the Rose Royce track on your facebook earlier, funky stuff
  11. I've still got a couple sitting around, if Adam or anyone else still wants one, let me know
  12. Cheers Ron Short notice I know, but we have a gig tonight at Sopranos if anyone's up for it...bit tricky to get a crowd down there so all help appreciated!
  13. I could take it off you, whereabouts do you stay?
  14. Thanks for the comments guys Ron, you guys were rocking too, was a good night! Yup, I want you back is on there, it's probably our most popular song. For now we're sticking with covers as we're going to have some line-up changes (couple of people are moving away unfortunately), but will maybe approach original stuff when we're settled again. Cheers all!
  15. Hey dude, I don't do that much rock stuff anymore but I like the sound of your stuff and would be up for giving it a go...I stay in Aberdeen but have transport and my own gear. I'm a music student so I do a lot of playing already, but would be up for getting more gigs. How often do you guys meet to practise? Also I'm 23, so hope you don't mind having an 'old man' in the band...if you'd rather have someone your own age, then that's cool. Cheers, Alan
  16. Pimptones were rocking, and you guys were funky too...good night
  17. Hey all... My 3rd attempt at getting us some feedback on here, I don't know if that's due to the lack of love for covers bands, but my other threads both sank without a trace. To be fair, they weren't great recordings either Anyway, we recorded 7 tracks at Musical Vision a couple of weeks back, here's the results! Any and all feedback is much appreciated. 18. Lol, so many 'helpful' responses here
  19. Aww, and I was feeling generous there haha If anyone else needs a bass sized box, let me know!
  20. Agreed. I don't think it would be wise for anyone to spend over 500-750 on a bass/guitar unless they were making a career out of performing (even then it's not necessary), or actually wanted to splash out. Also playing a good instrument won't automatically make you better, but playing a very cheap one with a bad setup will only cause problems for you and slow your progress Having said that, I bought a cheap Yamaha bass to use as a backup a few months ago, tweaked the setup, and it actually sounds good and plays very well.
  21. I've got an H4 too, works really well for doing instrumental stuff, takes a little mixing to bring out any vocals though. Apparently there is a slight hum added to recordings when using it on battery power, never needed to do so myself so don't know if it's true, I've just read it in online reviews. Smart wee thing though, comes with Cubase LE too. One of my bandmates managed to pick one up at Thainstone mart for 5, the scamming bastard! Some housewifey was selling a bunch of her son's crap and she didn't know what it was, lol.
  22. Have seen NYJoS there years ago, also played with the Uni big band a few months ago as part of a charity gig... It is really nice, with a big stage. Will probably contact the guys there at some point, but you'd need to have a big following/potential audience to make it worthwile!
  23. Hey dude, just had a listen... Liking it, your Ewan is a nutter, and some cool sax lines in there too Hopefully get a chance to see you guys live in August!
