  1. Obviously not!! Its about future proofing our internet needs for the next 10 years. 8meg is good until you want high def movies, have more than one or two people using a connection or like me being a videographer try to upload something! If your fine with Aberdeen being left behind the rest of the country as other cities get upgrades and the demand for better speeds increases as the internet 'experience' gets more vivid go ahead, moan about it otherwise just shut up and vote.
  2. As i said it doesn't matter which ISP your through. BT has to allow them to use thier FTTC system so all providers will have access to 40 meg down, 10 meg up and tiny pings! The i3 thing will take longer to get off the ground as it doesn't have government funding and are not allowed to use BT ducting so provides a lot of issues in Aberdeen that are hard to over come. It was a problem for Aberdeen Cable/Atlantic cable and they had permission most of the time. So get voting as Aberdeen is WAY down the tables and only your vote can get us up there. 9 days to go, vote on behalf of friends if you have to!
  3. Lets try and rid Aberdeen of slow internet. Take a moment to cast you vote for Aberdeen in 'The Race To Infinity' - your vote will help to improve the chances of superfast fibre broadband being rolled out to homes across The Deen & Shire. It doesn't matter who you are with, AOL, Talk Talk, Sky, Be/O2, Zen, Plusnet, BT etc. It benefits all ! Visit BT - The Race to Infinity to cast your vote. Pass it on thank you
  4. If your looking for something for girlfriend or house check out the little shop next to the Priory on Belmont Street. You'd have to stay clear of Union Street to find the shops your looking for. Try around Rose St, Rosemount and George St for the shops that might fit what your looking for.
  5. Aye my thoughts are with the familys and friends. Kinda knew one of the folk on board. Not something you want to even comtemplate the pain they are going through. But saying that i think the saftey aspect is being taken out context a little as up until that day the north sea had the best record of helicopter saftey in terms of number of flights v's incidents. This still is the case. Can't say i've ever been worried when flying offshore and there have been a few incidents of gearboxes sh1tting themselves and hydralic lights coming on during a flight.. it happens with planes it's not good when it happens but you still get back on and fly. Things like this (helicopters having a critical failure) just don't happen normally so to call for a piblic enquiry is a bit strange. Hopefully the guys on the Topaz can quickly recover the wreckage and the reason it happened can be established and solved if there is anything that can be solved.
  6. Well the Sir Ian Wood proposal would take care of it.. as it would all be covered up... So the HMT bridge would become the next best place to break a neck or two..
  7. A little known fact is most of the jumpers from both Union Bridge and the bridge next to HMT survive. Most have horrible debilitating iinjuries or are paralysed... So they thought thier lives were bad to start with before jumping....... LOL @ the Slaters comment
  8. well to be honest I've found that customer facing staff within Aberdeen in general to be a bit crappy compaired to other cities.. to be fair there are helpful staff out there in Aberdeen but there is a larger percentage of cheeky/depressed/unhelpfull/tiredofthierjob/c**ts out there working in Aberdeen. Is it the fact we have so many rich(ish) oil workers/their kids etc that they don't need to get the sale they just expect it. i don't know why but shopping etc in Aberdeen is just pretty crap. It just seems to be getting worse really. To mention the Belmont I've had good experiences there and truly bad ones.. most of the bad ones were technicals faults to be fair.. The staff in general are good tho. As for retail/customer facing jobs. which I've had a fair few of and most have been at management level. The customer is always right, always try to help them to the best of your ability as they are the c**ks that are essentially paying your wages. Without them where would you be? The nicer you are to them the quicker you get rid of them, and they will probably be nicer the next time they come back. I also agree about the Vue. It needs to close for a few days and actually do some decent cleaning. I doubt I'd actually eat anything there, i've complained a few times about kids not meant to be there and just general shit things going on like missing 10 minutes of a film due to an error.. Manager (s) always come up with some excuse and never seem to actually sort it out. Oh and guys if your reading this make sure the focus on your projectors are actually spot on. It's like watching a film with beer goggles, without the benefits. Maybe a complaint from myself and a few other movie goers to Vue H Q might get a few bums moving at Shiprow..?
