  1. Just saw Jgomez's thread and noticed all the helpful comments. Thought i'd throw out a similar problem I have. I too am looking for a valve combo, I'm looking to spend around the 300 mark. Would need to be loud enough for gigging, but i live in a flat so it would also have to be able to be played at an acceptable level and still sound half decent with that taken into account. Would be used for everything from Twin atlantic/Jimmy eat world up to As I lay dying type stuff, but I'd rather sacrifice the heavier end than the lighter end.

Any help would be appreciated! Cheers.

  2. We have still to work out the finer details, but bringing in a crowd is something i would be hellbent on doing. But can i just say that your points are actually amazing and i wish more people would see how difficult it is to class what is rock these days.

Yeah min, starting a rock night up is no mean feat. Either way, if theres anything i can do to help, let me know

  3. Could do with a decent night out on a Wednesday. Wednesday ends in a Y so I have to go out anyway...

I'd head along. As long as drinks are cheap and the musics decent, this could be a good laugh. If enough people were to go along, would it be in both rooms? The more successful rock orientated nights I've been to use 2 rooms, one for heavier and one for lighter music. The problem with "rock" is that it's such a huge genre, you can get metrostation fans and cryptopsy fans having to listen to each others music on rock nights in order to accommodate everyone. Obviously this would only be possible if there was enough people, but just a thought.

Also, another chance for bands to showcase themselves can only really be a good thing.

  4. Hey,

I might be up for that...although I'm english so no 'overpowering scottish accent' i'm afraid. I can also play guitar to an ok standard, good enough for a 2nd guitarist and I can sing too (although obviously it depends what).

Haha! Sounds good min! Yeah I'm not particularly good at guitar either tbh, but it's not the most technical stuff in the world to play, so we should be decent enough to get by

I'll let the other dudes know I've found someone and we'll learn a couple of covers or something and get a wee jam together yeah?

  5. fatboy / aekido - yes, I know both of you to say "fit like", and as wrong as it sounds, I did used to sit outside Levi's flat in my car waiting for him...

But unless I've erased it from my memory somehow, I never spent any time by the lake with Kaizen, the lying bastard.

Yeah I made that one up. My bad...

You've clearly not been following this discussion as it was stated earlier on that the reason brewdog should NOT be subjected to the shite it is being subjected to is that it is NOT designed for going out and getting trashed. It is a good beer for people who like good beer. Not just extra extra strong tennants.

  7. One of my bands hasn't got a much bigger profile than you and we also send the obligatory email to Fudge every few months. Same response "booked up". I'm too dumb for euphemisms so until he actually says he doesn't like us or gives us a date, we'll just crack on with this approach.

The Andy Dufraine approach. Even when he does give a a slot, KEEP MESSAGING TILL HE GIVES YOU FUCKING DOWNLOAD FESTIVAL!

  8. Snow in winter who would have thought it?? Next they'll be saying rain in April and it being hot in summer are due to global warming!

Just don't mention the leaves falling off trees in October/November!

Let's face it, if it's ever hot in Scotland, that's when you've got to start worrying...
