Working on it . Brass Jaw are a brass-only quartet, doing away completely with the traditional rhythm section. Perhaps not as experimental as many other performers out there, but their sound is certainly bold and unique. Stan Tracey is going to be absolutely spell-binding - a chance to see a proper music legend and a true gentleman of jazz. The man's been performing live for almost seven decades!

Go check out his 'Blues Deluxe' album and then say he isn't one of very best guitarists in the world right now - each track a different style of blues on a different guitar and with a different set up, each one a belter (Burning Hell in particular). Admittedly some of his latest stuff isn't as good as his earlier works but he still knocks out a brilliant tune. Oh, and he can't sing, but, bless him, he does try! Back on the Sandi thing. In a similar vein, Common is one of the best rappers there's been yet got Lily fuckin Allen to squawk on his last album. That doesn't mean that his earlier work isn't still as brilliant as it was when it first came out, nor that he can't still tear it up when the feeling takes him. Some artists just like really random acts sometimes. Oh, and in terms of LT blues we got Connie Lush & Blues Shouter on Wednesday 1 September and, as mentioned, Walter Trout on Thursday 7 October. Good job the boy's finally learning how to sing! Caught him at the Arches a couple years back - I lost count of the number of different guitars he pulled out, total machine and a phenomenal concert.

Fair play to the man, and I'd be lying through my teeth if I was to say that I didn't respect that a whole lot more! All the same I also respect The Unthanks decision - it really depends on the artist and how they view their music. Professional music can be ruthless and often opportunities such as the one they were given only come around once. Hey, as Omar says, "it's all in the game".

Next Thursday, peeps. If it's any consolation the band did feel very guilty about cancelling their last gig (we interviewed them for our member's newsletter), but they admit it's the sort of opportunity you have to grab with both hands. Fantastic tunes, superb musicianship and a charming stage presence - well worth going out on a school night for.
