  1. Still waiting for my hairy edition to arrive. Anyone willing to offer transport to the Glasgow gig? I'm gonna have to be back in Aberdeen for 9 the next day!
  2. S'up to u man. If you like the influences then I don't see why not. We're probably gonna start with a few covers and ready-made songs then start writing some new stuff. PM me if that floats ur boat.
  3. Hey ho. Anyone fancy playing bass or guitar for a random band? Already got guitar & vox and drums. Just needing a bassist and someone to play guitar - rhythm or lead, depending on whether they kick my ass or not (I expect my ass to be righteously kicked in most cases). We've already got a couple of originals and a stockpile of riffs and crap to play around with. Couple of covers lined up - September Gurls by Big Star and Up on the Sun by Meat Puppets. Can't really do our list of influences justice so I'll just list a big pile of bands that we like... if you approve then we may be for you! Here goes, in no particular order: Big Star, Meat Puppets, Neil Young, Tom Petty, Tool, Soundgarden, My Bloody Valentine, Flaming Lips, Pavement, Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, Ladytron, Swervedriver, Wire, Mission of Burma, Husker Du, Afghan Whigs, Minutemen, Led Zeppelin, Cocteau Twins, Mars Volta, Black Sabbath, Isis, Mogwai, Slint, Metallica, AIC, Sugar, Nirvana, Replacements, SOAD, Neil Young, Sonic Youth, Mudhoney, NIN, Foo Fighters, Muse, Bob Dylan, The Who, Dino. Jr..... Better stop there I guess.... Anyway, we're bored of the whole White Stripes thing - we need people. PM me if your interested. We're both in our early 20s and we're easy goin' chaps - just so u know.
  4. Sorry dude. I'm a graduate so that email address doesn't exist anymore. :S Feel free to PM or email me at dcdd4@btinternet.com.
  5. Hi there. Okay, I'm 23, living in Aberdeen. I mostly play guitar and sing (simultaneously when possible ) but can also play bass if required. Am decent at all 3 I guess. I don't have any gigging experience, unfortunately, but I would like to get some. Am also limited to a crappy Microcube as an amp - so I'd obviously have to hire something bigger at any "bring your own amp" kinda gigs. Aside from that my influences are pretty varied, so I'm up for most things. I'm mostly into alternative stuff. Favourites are: Soundgarden, Tom Petty, Big Star, QOTSA, My Bloody Valentine, Sonic Youth, Neil Young, Dino Jr, Mudhoney, Mogwai, Husker Du, Pearl Jam, Afghan Whigs, Black Sabbath... the list goes on really - I'm pretty damn open minded. PM me if you're interested.
  6. Cool. Have PMed you... maybe I should have mentioned that earlier. ?(
  7. Hey, hey. We're an alternative rock band called 'The Exit Strategy' and we're looking for a new 2nd guitarist... preferably one who can contribute some feminine vocals in the vein of Bilinda Butcher from My Bloody Valentine. Basically just some nice harmonies and/or sharing lead vocals. We've already got a guitarist/vocalist, bassist and drummer - just so ya know. :O This is possibly a long shot, so we're quite happy to accept any dudes that want to come along and have a jam - we need a guitarist regardless. We mostly play distorted stuff, but we like a bit of melody runnin' through it. Influences are: My Bloody Valentine, Soundgarden, RATM, QOTSA, Big Star, Dinosaur Jr, Neil Young and loads more. We're pretty open minded - so we're quite happy to take on anyone regardless of their influences or style (within reason ). I like to think it's the members who determine the sound of the band, not the other way around. :]
  8. It's pretty amazing, yeah - I like it so much that I've just ordered Beaster off Amazon, sounds like it's gonna be pretty intense.
  9. Stoner Witch - Melvins Copper Blue - Sugar To Mother - Babes In Toyland 90's-tastic! Really want the new Breeders album and the upcoming Mudhoney release tho!
  10. Hey there folks. We're looking for a bassist (or a guitarist who doesn't mind playing a bit of bass) to round out the line-up of our, currently three-piece, Grunge band (or Alt-Rock or Shoegaze, whatever classification u fancy ). We have a selection of original songs as well as a good few covers (including songs by QOTSA, Dinosaur Jr, Pearl Jam, Tom Petty and Screaming Trees). Also, we're pretty open minded. We're into a big pile of bands (hence the random Tom Petty cover). Also, we want people to bring their own sound to the band - because we think that's what makes the best music. Anyway, check out some of our choonz at The Exit Strategy<theexitstrategy>.
