  1. The red battle 2009 do not play it!! Just to make the same points as Ricki, we're not posting these things cos we're bitter about not winning, we're trying to warn other bands about this scam before they get disappointed. Ascension played in The Red Battle 2008, at first we thought it sounded good so we applied for it. We found out it was text voting which cost you 50p + network charge to vote for the band that you wanted to win. Some of the bands pulled out after realising it was a money making scam, but we decided to stay and see it through. Basically, it's a popularity contest which is all about which band can throw most money at the organisers with voting money. It's not about the music at all, because there was no judges present in the heats. The national final in Liverpool stated that you needed to sell 50 tickets before the judges' opinion was taken into consideration. I can't understand who would buy a ticket to see a local band in a different country! It's a shame cos lots of good bands played and in the end it was the most mainstream, indie, ned band who won, cos they brought about 100 thug fans and the organisers realised that they would be the ones to make them the most money. The reason I'm writing this is because if someone had written this before we applied, we wouldn't have bothered with it. If you are considering playing the Red Battle this year, be very wary, read the rules properly and take into account what Ricki and Myself have to say about it. Dick
  2. Red Battle It's not hypocritical. The red battle seemed like a good idea the first time you hear about it, but you realise what a load of filth it is when you read closer into it and progress through the heats. The Bloodstock heats weren't the same either, that wasn't a money making scam, the bands and the fans weren't ripped off, it was a BOTB organised by bloodstock and the judge was a bloodstock rep, there to see which band was most suitable for the festival in his opinion. The same applies for the MetalFest voting. It's not the same, cos there was no money involved, therefore it wasn't a scam like Red Battle is. Aswell as getting to play a festival, we spread the word about the band and more people heard our music, so even if we hadn't won it, we still would've seen benefit from it. Needless to say, we've learned from our experiences with the Red Battle and we wanted to spread the word about how gash it is so that other bands don't get lured into it with a false sense of hope when at the end of the day it's a popularity contest to see who can throw the most money into the organisers' pockets by voting for the most mainstream band to win.
  3. I haven't got a clue. I've only ever seen one DMPro module. I don't really use the hi hat pedal much anyway, left foot is always on my other bass pedal! But I really want a DMPro cos you can put extra sounds onto a 'PC Card' and blast it in to the module. I need it for a DIY Edrum project. DM5 would be cool too, I've found a couple of cheap ones on ebay that I'm gona try and get
  4. just thought i'd tell you, there's a couple of these on ebay at the moment for around 130 buy it now
  5. I need a drum module. Preferably the Alesis DM Pro, but I know they're quite rare. A DM5 would do the trick too. If you have an alesis module, give me a shout and tell me how much you want for it. Dick
  6. I'm going on tour in 2 weeks and I don't want my cymbals getting fucked in the back of the van! So I need a cymbal hardcase to protect them. Any make will do, just as long as it's still in one piece and it will keep my cymbals from getting cracked if they do happen to fall/get dropped. If you have a hard case, just PM me some info and a price and I'll get back to you. Dick
  7. I need some toms, ideally 8" or 10" but could use 12" too. It doesn't matter if the skins are broken or how old they are, as long as the lugs etc are still intact. I need them to be small cos it's for a practice kit which mesh heads are gona be fitted. Also, there's no room in my flat for a massive kit. If you've got any old toms that you don't want, give me a shout and i'll buy them from you. Thanks, Dick
  8. Anyone want a Digitech Death Metal pedal? It gives you a pretty pro sound, but I have fuck all money so I need to sell it. I've got the box, the instructions, warranty, EQ suggestions etc Just suggest an offer if you're interested Thanks, Dick
  9. Aberdeen power metal band Ascension are embarking on their UK tour with Italian Melodic metal band Broken Melody in April! The first show is in Tunnels on the 8th April! We'd really appreciate a big crowd so that we can show the guys from Italy that there is a pro live music scene in Aberdeen! We're also playing in Edinburgh, Inverness, Leicestershire and London. The Moongate EP is in the process of being duplicated and will be available before the tour! Here's a poster If you haven't heard us already, come and listen. 10. Basically I need some toms. Doesn't matter how shit they are or how old they are, I'm just gona stick mesh heads on them and turn them into a practice kit! Ideally smaller than 12" cos I live in a flat so there's not much space for drums! So if you have any toms lying about that are taking up space, I'll easy take them off your hands. Just tell me how much you want for them. Dick
  11. Drum Mics Hey man, I have some Superlux drum mics that I have and I don't use. I have: 1xKick 1xSnare 2xOverheads 2xTom And there's a padded case thing too. I had a mixer, but I don't use that stuff anymore, I live in a flat in Dundee for uni, so drums are game over here Anyway, I have a small mic stand for the kick mic and little clip things to hold them on to the toms and snare. I have all the leads, some are XLR-XLR and some are Jack-XLR. The mics were 180 new and I'm not sure about the leads. Going on tour in April, so I need some money for that lol Here's some info: Superlux SL-Drkb5C2 7 Microphone Drum Kit Set from Superlux @ Inta Audio - The Online Music Shop If you think you'd be interested, just give me a shout!
