  1. yeah I like it, building up drums and bassline pattrerns is so easy with redrum and matrix. step programming in a MIDI editor is not much fun.

I think the plug ins make sense when you have a lot of gate/CV options. the ABL2 has a CV input for every parameter. that's what reasons all about. apart from sunths and pattern programming/processing I doubt I'd bother since I have Reaper and all its plugins.

  2. they've opened up reason to 3rd party developers. lots of new rack extensions, it's pretty awesome. I downloaded the ABL2 303 emulator demo, it sounds dank. plug that into matrix and you're basically back in 2002 but sounding a lot better.

time for another gander my lovelies.

  3. I suppose they are forced to add gimmicks and put more emphasis on streaming media with their new consoles to justify buying them over a PC these days, especially considering you can just buy stuff on Steam then use a 360 controller to play if you don't want to use a mouse and keyboard. Ends up being cheaper a lot of the time too.

Even the latest CoD still doesn't support the xbox controller, which is a shame as dedicated servers piss on ranked p2p. Of course, if you ever query this glaring omission the response is invariably 'console n00bs would get pwned anyway lol'

I think that's what I like about the Xbox and consoles in general, they're completely standardised.

  4. I have the same prejudice. But for media work, Macs are apparently a lot better.

Not neccesarily. Or, specifically for music software, not if you get an ASIO driver for your PC's soundcard. then it's just about your preference and how deep your pockets are feeling.

To the OP, you'll probably want Reaper for recording. It's a full featured DAW for $60. pretty win really. you get 30 days to evaluate it also.

and maybe you'll want an audio interface. something like the Focusrite Saffire 6 is a good budget unit. the quality is excellent and it's much nicer having sturdy 1/4" inputs instead of those pishy stereo minijacks.

  5. hmm, that's interesting. does it cost to use the service?

we've got optic fibre fancy dan broadband at work, might have to give it a bash one evening.

It's free to join and most games have a free 30 minute demo so you can have a play with that, otherwise you can rent or buy and they also havce a subscription package with a selection of games. They have a first game for £1 introductory offer on at the mo also.

I'm running it fine on my fairly average Sky 7Mbps line.

  6. well, we can at least be thankful that the 'community' is now approaching the standard of its heyday due to this thread.

just needs someone ranting about israel and calling everyone shitheads. not have the passion for it personally though so someone else can step up.
