  1. Hi again Laura. Sorry took ages to reply, i've had no internet access since friday last week so that's me just back on. Can you send me your e-mail address to mine and we can arrange to meet up etc. As I said, I can read but playing drums and mainly drums, it's more the rhythm's i'm good at rather than pitches and scales etc. but it's a start. I have a keyboard at home too so that will help. Sorry again. Thanks Kris
  2. Hi Laura. I would be interested in this. I've played drums for over 12 years and can read music although very rusty as havent been playing. I have an old trumpet I got from a friend which I always wanted to try and pick up the basics with, but just never give it enough of a chance. Let me know if you are still interested. Thanks, Kris
  3. Hey man...cheers for the reply! I checked out some porcupine tree and Gavin Harrison. Good stuff. I'm into some irregular time signature shizzle!!! Yeh, i've heard a few things about Chambers. Some good, some bad! You should check out some of the gigs he did with Parliament/Funkadelic. Proper good! Cheers again - let us know if you're interested in the group!
  4. Hello there... I'm a drummer of 12+ years and i'm looking to form a drumming/percussion group with the intention of gigging asap! I'm looking for 2-3 drummers(Grade 5 or above preferably but no real age limitations - as long as you can hold a groove!) who, like myself, have a love for dynamic, rhythmic drumming with plenty of syncopation! To begin with, i'd like to keep it exclusively drums/percussion with a view to MAYBE incorporating e.g. a bassist, due to it's close relationship with drums. Rhythm is my 'ting'!!! My main influences stem from Funk-originated beats, however i'm open to absolutely everything musically; very, very, very open-minded!!! Favourite drummers include Dave Weckl and Dennis Chambers but i'd have to say, top of the list would probably be Steve Gadd. This guy is a great 'space' drummer, proving that not every 'drumbeat' or 'fill' needs to be super-fast or super-technical to sound good! I am a Grade 8 drummer, but due to lack of focused practice, i'm not as 'tight' as i'd like to be at the moment. Therefore, this project would go a long way to improving my, and your, playing! There's always something else to learn; always room for improvement!!! Okay, enough spiel. If you like the sound of this, leave me a message and i'll get back as soon as I can! Cheers
  5. Hi. I'm a Drummer of 13 years. Involved with a few bands just now but always looking to try new stuff! Wots ur intentions? Would it be to lay down some grooves in a studio first or just jam ideas for a while? Like I say, always interested in new ideas, so give us a shout! My name's Kris Elliott by the way. You can e-mail me at krisfoof1@hotmail.co.uk. Cheers
  6. Hey man, not sure how to do the pm??? help! Here's my E-mail: krisfoof1@hotmail.co.uk Drop me a line there n we'll all meet up. Cheers man. Take it easy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. Hey, Colin. Cheers for getin back again!!! Yeh, i see wot ur sayin about being specific. I think your suggestions sound good for the brass players for the funk band. Ewan's gona make an ad for the uni but if u cld recommend any players, please do so. And for the wedding band, yes this is where we are looking for keys. again, if any, holler!!!! It would be cool if you could ome along to just to one of our practices, for a wee jam but also to give you a better idea of the music and just to have a general chat with yourself coz u seem like a good contact to have!!! Influences on the funk include: Parliament, Funkadelic, Bootsy Collins, Sweatband, Quasar, James Brown - with his horns of course, u know, Fred Wesley, Maceo Parker etc. I'm open to all music and I mean anything. Love Jamiroquai aswell along with loads of other funk. Like I say, anything goes - Rock, Blues, Soul, Latin, Metal, Pop, Alternative - ANYTHING!!!!!!!!! But as this is a funk band, well better keep it funky!! That's y i got the wedding band too - I love playing a variety of music. Anyway, I''ll shuh up! Gees a shout bk if and wen u can. Cheers Kris
  8. cheers man, is there a website for that? Is your name Colin by the way? You dont know me but I've heard a lot about you, seen u playin for soul funkin hot at the forum and at the tunnels wi a french rapper dude, is that right? Don't worry, im not sum stalker, i know a few folk that know you and word of mouth n all that. I was talking to a Michael Archibald the other day, hes gona be playin guitar for the wedding/party/function band im in and he says he knows you too!!! But im also involved with this funk band and need horn players. Would u be up 4 a jam or u too busy with all the bans ur in? Brass could also be useful for wedding band! What about a keys player? Could you recommend any horn/keys players, even yourself? Cheers, Kris Elliott
  9. Hey, cheers for getting back. The songs we are doing are: - I'm so excited - pointer sisters - proud mary - Tina Turner -Mustang Sally(I know!!!) There may be 1 or 2 more but we havent decided 100% on them so liable to change. Like i said the gig is quite soon and we all find it hard to meet, at the moment, more than once or twice a week due to work and what not. If we could arrange a time would you be willing to sit in a rehearsal? How quickly could you learn 3-5 songs - sorry, dont mean to pressure, just with the short notice!!! Now I know Mustang Sally is there, but if you could do this gig, even though you might really hate those songs, its still a wee gig at the Lemon Tree, and who knows, something good might come of it. Anyway, geez a shout back and let me know wot u think. Cheers, Kris p.s. here's my E-mail: krisfoof1@hotmail.co.uk
  10. Hi, Kris Elliott. I am involved with a few bands at the moment, 1 of which is a party/wedding/function band. In its early stages but all we need is a keyboard player, who is willing to play cover songs, some cheese of course, but a wide range of songs. We have been asked to perform a short set at the Lemon tree for a fundraiser for Give Kids A chance and, again, just need a keyboard player to complete the line up. Even if you could play that gig, we just really need a keys player no matter what and you sound mature, know wot it's like having timewasters n all that!!!!!!! Give me a shout back if your interested, again even just to play at this Lemon Tree gig!!!!! It'll be bout 5 songs and its on 22nd and 23rd October!!! Cheers, hope to hear....well, very soon!!!
  11. Hi, Kris Elliott here. Looking for horn players - Sax, Trombone and Trumpet - and looking to take vocalists on trial. Also, front man, kinda along the lines of George Clinton. If u know funk, you'll know Clinton!!! I am the drummer in the band, Ewan Macintosh on Bass (Mega funky) and Callum Peterkin on the keys, also awesome along with his girlfriend Lisa on vocals!!! There is loads of potential here, very good musicians like I say so get in touch if you are REALLY into funk. It'll be fun, get in touch!!! Cheers Kris Elliott:up:
  12. Hi, My name's Kris Elliott. To finish the sentence... 'Lead/Rhythm guitarist urgently required 4 party/function/wedding band.' Basically, we need a good guitarist that can learn cover songs quickly for playing at weddings, parties etc. OK, this will take a wee bity time but we have got very talented individiuals. The line up is as follows: Vocals: Emma, Dayle, Zara Drums: Kris ( Me, of course ) Bass: Wayne Keys: Ben Guitarist: Well, that's hopefully you!!!!!!! p.s. We're all aged between 19 and 25 but age isn't of great concern. We're a good bunch a folk, have loads of fun in rehearsals whilst working at the same time!!! Seriously though, loads of potential in this band, want to get gigging asap ( before xmas!! ) and we just need a guitarist. We cover a huge range of music; 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, 00's. Generally, songs that will fit the party/function/weddding bill, you know!!!! OK, there's some cheese in there, even some songs im not so keen on but I just love playing my instrument ( DRUMS THAT IS!!!!! ) so if you love playing guitar, get in touch, please.
