We got paid in beer by the Lemon Tree for the Errors gig. I don't think it's a good thing however when you consider the price of drink that venues can get it for, and what they charge for it;for me this is kind of a cop out on the venues part. I'd much rather get some cash to put towards recording or gear etc

I use lastfm a lot for the feature that spits out bands who "sound like" your favourite artists. it often spits out a lot of shit though

Seconded, You can only piss with what you've got. A lot of the time it is the fault of the bands, which are meant to be soundchecking, arriving late (this wasn't the case at the Minnarrs gig) but im sure that is just as infuriating for the sound engineers. It is amazing how Callum gets everything done in such a short time without sacrificing the quality of the sound

aye, that's true, but it has always striked me as the kind of shop that feels like a franchise. In my experience with them i have found the staff to be utterly incompetent when making inquiries about gear and not only that but their prices are through the roof. i know i said i didn't mind paying a little extra... but 7.99 for a pack of ernie ball super slinky guitar strings is extortion. that's why i tend to favour R&B. do yous remember Prosound on holburn street? that was a great shop
