  1. I'm a guitarist, currently doing my first year of a music degree at Aberdeen Uni. Looking for musicians to form a band. Influences include: Dream Theater, Pain Of Salvation, Pink Floyd, King Crimson, The Flower Kings, John Mclaughlin (Mahavishnu Orchestra, Shakti), Miles Davis, Shawn Lane, Weather Report, Jorane, Joni Mitchell, Steve Hackett, Tool, Van Der Graaf Generator, Edward Powell, David Rovics, Kimmo Pohjonen, Anoushka Shankar, Joe Satriani, Bill Burke, Joe Pass, Sigur Ros, Spock's Beard, Django Reinhardt, Steve Vai, Yes, Norh Indian Classical Music, Electro-acoustic/acousmatic music, other world music, Steve Reich, ELP, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Allan Holdsworth, Michael Manring, Victor Wooten. I'm wanting an experimental/progressive/fusion band. Any musicians are welcome. Must be skilled and 19 or older.
  2. Hey, I did up to grade 8 RGT and I'd say they're worth it. The improvising gets tough the higher you go as theirs lots of changes. You don't have to use the scale shapes given in the book, I didn't for the improvisation. It's really helpful for chord construction and knowledge on how to build them and what modes fit over them etc. Having a good teacher helps as well to explain things in more depth. You don't really have to sit the exams, as long as you get the knowledge.
  3. Hello I hope to take up either the sitar or the sarod and learn about north Indian classical music this year, if anyone knows someone who gives tuition, on either of the instruments, then could you let me know? Ta very much. Matthew
