  1. The Stumps!! Definitely! They're right up my street anyways... I'd be stotterin' aboot doon i front like a bleezin weasel if they played TMB! Special Edition, haha, they accused me of being a dog-fucker (or something to that effect)once at Ocean in Elgin. That was hilarious. How could a veggie fuck a dog? I dunno and I'm nae willing to pit it to the test Psycho Dalek from Glasgow... I'm totally sure they were featured in a BBC documentary a few years ago called "Glasgow's Goth Kids" (it wasn't as cheesy as the title may suggest, quite a good snapshot of the whole neds vs. moh-hers existential feud, actually) - they played Rutherglen Youth Club or something like that and about 4 people paid in. It was well funny! Anyone else mind of that programme?
  2. Saddening. I was actually thinking about them for the first time in ages last night, watching the incredibly energetic The Fraction at tunnels. I thought about digging out "Civil Disobedients" and giving it a spin. I side with the Kernel Loaf on this one... mind you, I'm affa for going off bands when they become more popular (or populist) - tsssk! Having said that, when I saw them as a 14 year old going to one of my first punk shows, all alone at the Glasgow Cathouse, I was able to forget my nerves by witnessing an amazing, energetic performance... fucking great! "Unite To Progress" still gets the goosebumps popping up too. ahhh. All is not lost for fans of their "Wind Up Toys" (2007) album, though: they are touring in October before calling it a day. Final Tour 2007 October 22nd Glasgow - King tuts
  3. You left before Testament. I know this because you gave me the rest of your chips and ambled away! And I disregarded The Cramps' advice and 'ate stuff I found on the sidewalk'. Good chips an' a. Yeah, I mind going back to the Moorings after eating - and speaking to people and watching games of Connect Four more than paying attention to the last band, damn shame, cuz I recall them being alright. Apes IQ - fucking great!! Scando punk n roll the way it's supposed to be. Minded me of Social D, and another Swedish band I saw once called The Bones. Thought I'd be returning for the Sunday night seeing as they were so fuckin spot on, but the last showing of 'The Future Is Unwritten' at the belmont started at 9, when the Apes were supposed to be onstage. (excuses excuses) ahhhh bollocks. Come back soon Apes!
  4. First off, I do respect the sharing of knowledge of hard pubs for bands not to play at - very considerate and applaudable. And while not wanting to negate good advice given... my sole experience of the Spirit Bar was quite different. March 2007. Saturday night in Tollcross, Glasgow, and A Gayboy Scene (funnily enough, carrying on the theme of 'gay' and 'bars' from the post above, haha!) were put on by our good friends Spitting Teeth Promotions (Fraser of UK Death Charge/Murderburgers' punk gigs). Second time we had played Gla; we heard the tales and the reputation of the bar, but the show had to go on, etc. No problems towards us at all. And this is with a name like 'A Gayboy Scene'. While not exactly a friendly atmosphere, from that night I got the idea we could be called 'We Will Penetrate You Anally, Y'Know' and no one would have caused us any bother. Although I do remember an old man getting punched in the face by (an actually sound, of sorts) youth and "DON'T TALK ABOUT RELIGION IN HERE YA BAM" being shouted. I was only out for a fag, not a lesson on Glesga bar ettiquette. And the police coming into the main bar (not the gig room) between bands. Hard pub? Yes. Advice to avoid playing there? Good advice, perhaps. But we didn't get any hassle. (Although we did break up after that gig... but that was due to boredom with our own lame, putrid selves, not due to each getting glassed and deciding to call it a day.) Regards.
  5. Nick & Bobby, I'm raring to form a band as well! Shouty three-chord hardcore punk preferable! I'd be up for guitar and vocals, or whatever I'm required to. shit drummer though. however, I got a crappy 80s drum machine... Fuck it, even if it only amounted to some jamming throughout the summer, it would still be somethin! Let's go! Oh yeah, I'm also gonna be new to Aberdeen - moving in a week's time - although I've been to/played quite a few gigs there, so I know all about the hardcore/punk activity really.
  6. I'm well goin to this! First gig I'll go to while living in Aberdeen - it looks like it'll be a good one! Also looking forward to testing the Moorings facilities for the first time like
