  1. Yes, that's right. Highly recommended. A film so visually arresting it makes viewing somehow an olfactory experience. You see the smells, somehow...
  2. "... I can't get no Vincent Gallo And I try, and I try, and I try, and I try..." Damn restraining orders...
  3. The only one I knew out of my top 5 was Amber Benson (from Buffy)... Emmy Rossum? Michelle Branch? Sofia Vergara? Zoe Tay? Megan Ewing? Yael Bar Zohar? No, I'm not making this up! I can only conclude that I look like people who aren't actually famous... oh, hang on, I'm 63% liek Julia Roberts...

    Perfume

I didn't even know they were making a film of this, one of my favourite books - and now I hear it opens in January. Does anyone know anything about it? I'm going to have to see it, but I'm already gearing myself up for a great big disappointment. Just checked out the trailer on the IMDB and it looks great, although if you've not read the book it kinda gives the ending away. http://uk.imdb.com/title/tt0396171/trailers-screenplay-E29702-10-2
  5. McNicholas is a jumped up public school wanker with a rockstar complex - I know - I did a week's work experience down there. The testosterone fug around those offices is suffocating and sickening, and the only writer I have any time for is Peter Robinson who is doing something far more exciting with Popjustice anyway.
  6. The NME has been very Doherty/Borrell-centric over the last few years, and there's always going to be thatelement to it, as most of the writers are middle-class white males. At least some of the writers are paying attention to some of the underground indie bands that have gathered a great following from playing cool gigs and putting out great records, such as The Long Blondes, We Start Fires, The Sugars and The Gossip. Right now Kate Jackson and Beth Ditto are the coolest people I can think of - one is a charity shop princess obsessed with moviestar glamour, cool literature and old cars, the other a sexy, Reubenesque, John Waters loving trashqueen with a voice like Janis Joplin.
  7. They already gave him one of those 'lifetime acheivement' Oscars at last year's ceremony, realising obviosly that he wasn't long for this earth and that he hadn't got one yet... A great director - 'Short Cuts' is a classic, really broke the mould. Pity about 'Pret A Porter' though - maybe we'll just not mention it...

    Your current read?

Oh, forgot to answer the question... I've just finished reading 'Strangers' by Taichi Yamada. It's a great ghost story with a cool twist.

    Your current read?

Did you know there was a film version of 'The Magic Toyshop'? - I have it somewhere on video. I quite liked 'The Magic Toyshop', although 'Fireworks' is a far better book.
  10. 'You Only Live Twice' - Overlooked Nancy Sinatra theme...
