  1. Now just a bassist...
  2. Just bass and lead guitar now...
  3. Just trying to keep the thread from falling off the bottom...
  4. Any lead guitarists, bassists or drummers out there interested in this? Had a few responses for vocals but need the rest...
  5. Hey I'm looking to start a new band. Something along the lines of Black Sabbath (all Sabbath eras) meets Lynyrd Skynyrd, meets Metallica etc etc Somethng fat and heavy but with some good rhythms and melodies. Looking for the following: Singer - no screamo. Too many screamo bands around at the mo (imo) Lead Guitarist - I play rhythm so need someone to put some solos etc in And of course drums and bass. Looking to write original songs and eventually play gigs. I have some gigging experience but not much so I don't care too much about that. As long as you can play and are in to the music. I'm 22 so people about the same sort of age would be cool. PM me if you're interested. Cheers! Scott
  6. You should offer a free Granite Ruin cd along with the bundle. That'll get it moving! Also, bigging up the ps3 when you're trying to sell a dreamcast is a sure fire way to not sell a dreamcast lol
  7. You crazy bastard! Don't sell it. Retro games are the balls! You'll regret it in 50yrs when you are no longer able to understand the computer game technology of the day. I'd buy it but I don't have the room. Bought a SNES that I never play and I've still got my Megadrive. Good times.
  8. I think I have to agree with you. Probably my least favourite. That and Exodus. They layout is utter balls. Hot bar maids is the only thing worth checking out But we're not perverts or anything haha
  9. I'm not sure if there is a correct forum anywhere here for such a topic but I only just heard about this and figured I'd spread the word in case anyone else was in the same boat. Basically the council is trying to take the lazy, cheap option to solve anti-social behaviour by introducing a curfew. Someone sent me the link to a petition to prevent this from happening. Theyve got about 1600 signatures at the moment but Im not sure how many they need. Read below, follow the link and sign it if you think this is as stupid as I do... "Don't let Aberdeen City Council Licensing Board hit the final nail in Aberdeen's coffin by creating a 12.30am curfew! From September this year, Aberdeen City Council will pass a law that will see every pub and club in Aberdeen close its doors at 12.30am to the public. This will mean that members of the public will not be admitted to the premises after this time. The Council is of the opinion that this will prevent customers who intend to drink alcohol after 1am from drifting between premises and/or remaining on the streets with the potential for anti-social behaviour and public nuisance. However, look at the other side of the story. What sort of detrimental effect will this have on pubs and clubs as a business? How many people will be left stranded with nowhere to go on a night out, thus increasing the number of people roaming the streets? How busy will queues for clubs be between 11pm and 12.30pm thus increasing the chance of a volatile situation arising? How does a curfew stop people drinking themselves silly? How do you monitor who has been in before and who is going outside for a smoke etc?" Stop the 12.30am curfew in Aberdeen Petition Cheers Scott
  10. Any takers on bass? Got guitar, drums and vocals. Just need a bass player and we're good to go! Any takers?
  11. Hey folks I'm looking to start a new band and write some good music. Something that lies between Hard Rock / Metal. Nothing too heavy or 'nu-metaly' but maybe more like BLS / Down or something. I play rhythm guitar and maybe some backing vocals if neccessary. I listen to a lot of stuff from Black Label Society, Black Sabbath, Down, Corrosion of Conformity, Metallica, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Motley Crue, Godsmack, W.A.S.P, and so on. So i need a singer - don't mind a little bit of screamo but not too much, some singing would be good too. A bit of a mix. I need a lead guitarist - someone with similar influences to me would be cool but as long as they like playing solos then that's fine by me. Drummer and Bassist - Again, similar influences to me would be cool. I'm 22 so would prefer it if the band was all about the same age, like 20-25 ish. Makes going out drinking etc a lot easier!! I'm free at weekends and most evenings (I work Mon-Fri 9-5 - Dolly Parton style!) so if anyone is interested then give me a pm or something. Cheers Scott
  12. We're currently a 4-piece rock / metal band but our current bass player has assumed lead guitar duties instead and so we need a 5th on bass! We practice regularly at Captain Toms (must be available for practice on weekends) and are desperate to start gigging ASAP! We don't really know what we're looking for, just someone who can maybe add a bit of flare to the band and generate some good input to the song writing. We play only our own songs and have quite a few written and ready to play but a fresh perspective from 'the new guy' is welcome. We have a MySpace page, MySpace.com - GRANITE RIN - Aberdeen, UK - Metal / Rock / Glam - www.myspace.com/graniteruin , so have a listen to the songs on our page for a sample and if anyone is interested then PM me as soon as you can and we can organise a practice. Cheers Scott (Rhythm Guitar - Granite Ruin)
  13. Cheers for that! Much appreciated! Will make sure I dont sound so shit next time haha Oh n Taylor, I like your lyrics. "my baby all gone..." is a sure-fire classic! Makes me laugh. N thats the important thing. Making sure I'M happy! hehe
  14. We've got like 9 of our own songs so we could probably manage a 20-30 min set i THINK. Cant quite remember how long the songs are off the top of my head. Why, you offerin a gig?
  15. Couldn't agree more... First of all, I agree with Doobie: we are a bunch of cunts! Pure n simple. No excuses. Secondly, I agree with everyone who said the guitar tone sounds shit too. Tried to get more beef into it but the recording just didn't come out right at all. Sounded soooooo much better in the studio! Even when we heard the playback it sounded better but after it was put onto disc sumin seems to have been lost. I'm the guitarist btw, so i take the blame. I also dont mind takin stick. Constructive criticism is always good. It sounds a bit rough n a bit loose but thats only cos we rushed through it to get as much tracks recorded as we could. Had we spent more time on it I'm sure it would have sounded better but funds were limited! hehe Cheers for all the comments/criticism! Much appreciated!
  16. We've got a band going but we need a bassist to finish off the line-up. We've only jammed a few times ourselves but it's already starting to come along nicely. There's myself on rhythm guitar and vocals and we have lead guitar and drummage. All 3 of us met over aberdeen-music.com so why not continue the trend... We practice on Sundays at Captain Toms so whoever's interested must be free then. Our influences include anything and everything: there's a bit of variety in the band but generally its metal and hard rock. Black Sabbath has been a regularly referenced influence. We've been working solely on originals and after only a few sessions we already have a couple of songs under our belts and intend to gig eventually but before we can do that we need a full band... If you're interested them pm me and tell me your influences and style etc and just generally what you like to listen to and we can arrange for anyone to come along for a jam with us. We're all about 20 and would prefer someone of similar age We're not looking for the world's greatest bass player here, just as long as everyone clicks and the style of playing complements what we've done so far. That's all that matters. Cheers
  17. A few of you have said that it's not the cheapest. Then where is? I must be lookin in totally the wrong place! Dunce
  18. Cheers bud, that stores pretty decent! Just gotta start saving the pennies...
  19. Thomann is an online store based in Germany and they sell guitars and gear n they seem to be pretty decent prices! I tried to buy a guitar from the before an ESP Ltd EX-400bd for about 600 but when it came to credit card confirmation they wanted me to send them a copy of a bank statement or something. My bank were like 'Hell No' so I cancelled the order. But they have a shit hot collection n shit hot prices! Certainly appear to be the cheapest around so was just wondering if anyone had ever bought anything from them before n if they had was it ok etc? Heres the web address: Musikhaus Thomann Cyberstore Eingang Cheers

    New Band

Re I've not heard any stuff from any of those bands to be honest. But if you check out the link to my myspace site n if you think you'd be into that sort o stuff then we could arrange a jam. Meanwhile I'll try n get holds o some of those bands' stuff to see what they're like. I like to keep an open mind.

Re: Its goin alright thanks, hows u? I don't down tune very far. The most i go is 1 1/2 steps down n then droppin the bottom string. Im just not a big fan of standard. Why play standard music? Thats my opinion. I listen to lots of Zakk Wylde stuff n Down n Corrosion of Conformity so I tend to down tune 1/2 a step down alot. But im pretty open minded to try most things. What about yourself?
