If anyone is going to Rock Rampage club night at The Tunnels on Saturday night (11th Dec) then pop down a little earlier and catch "Local Metal Titans" Matanuska lay down some "crisp riffs and pounding rythyms" for your listening pleasure as a warm up to your evening. (Not my quotes btw, thank Fudge for that!) For anyone that doesn't know who Matanuska are then check out Matanuska on Myspace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads for a small taster of our epic tracks. Doors are about 8.30 (i'm assuming) and probably a couple of quid entry. I have no idea who else is playing but we're apparently on at about 10pm Cheers Scott P.S. Saturday just so happens to be my Birthday so all the more reason for more of you to come down and throw some abuse and buy me a drink

FRIDAY NIGHT at the MOORINGS - Live Music From...
sr_guitar replied to The Ghost Of Fudge's topic in Krakatoa
It's worth mentioning that this gig marks the 1 year anniversary of Matanuska's first gig at The Moorings - 28th November 2009 - so almost a year to the day. Fate? -
The tickets have been sold. Quite surprised at the demand though. Didn't really think that gig would be a sell out. They must be more popular than I thought. Anyway, good luck to anyone still trying to find tickets! Cheers Scott

My mate has 2x tickets for Alter Bridge at 02 Academy in Glasgow on Saturday October 16th. Not able to make it to the gig anymore so tickets are going at face value - 45 for the 2. If anyone is interested then PM me and I'll pass on my mate's contact details. Cheers Scott

Cheers man. Interesting idea for the vocals. But would that not make them sound a bit Fear Factory-ish? Maybe, maybe not. But we might experiment with that next time we go to record! We've got a gig in Edinburgh tomorrow night and I came across and add for it on The Skinny website that referred to us as, and I quote, 'Southern Thrash' WTF?? Gotta love a bit of southern groove though. Needs to be done.

Poor Alex is getting a slating! haha I suppose I can see where folk are coming from to a certain extent with regards to the vocals. It's like me going along to a gig or listening to a track and thinking "this band is pretty good, but the singer is just screaming down a mic" - screamy bands bore me. But I quite like the more growly vocalists (like Alex) because it's a nice blend of screaming and actual singing. A bit Black-Album-era-James-Hetfield-ish (yes I am a Metallica fan!) So yeah, we really like the vocals. And if we didn't, he'd get told!! haha Cheers for the comments guys.

We've uploaded the tracks on Last.fm as well where you can get a free download of all the tracks from the MySpace page. Including the live ones... Matanuska Discover music, concerts, & pictures at Last.fm Don't say we're not good to you!

You may just be my new favourite person with all these kind words!! haha It seems there may be more influences coming through in the music than even I realised! Cheers dude. Keep the comments coming folks! We're big boys, we can handle it
-
Cheers for the comments dude. Appreciated. I agree to an extent with what you're saying about the guitar tones and how some cleaner sounding tones might have been good. And I did actually consider that. The reason I decided to stick with the dirtier tone right the way through was to keep in line with the live sound. Since I don't mess about all that much with tone whilst on stage I figured I wouldn't do it on disc either. If that makes sense?

I'm hearing a lot of weird comparisons: Bri from Fudge said we sounded like Helmet crossed with Tool and Metallica. Someone I was speaking to yesterday said Nirvana crossed with RATM and now you're saying Alice in Chains and Cult of Luna haha Glad to hear it doesn't just sound like one thing though. Clearly this is a good thing! Cheers dude.

I think it's awesome!! But them I'm a bit biased what with me being in the band n all... Anyone got any feedback? Good or bad. But mostly good would be nice!
