fruity loops is pretty cool and you get some great softsynths to plug into it - it will take any VST or DXi its also got a built in beatslicer - so all those drumloops you can download - put them into FL and change the loop around to suit yourself. Hammerhead Rythmn station is a good free drum machine as well.
