  1. Covered Bella for Hercules Moments in 2009 and it was brilliant fun. A lovely atmosphere, some great bands, and a REALLY nice setting. Great all round, really.
  2. Last one was aces, so I shall be getting my dancing shoes on and heading down
  3. Wow, just realised I have't updated this in aaaaaaaaages! Here are some links to our most recent articles. Hercules Moments: Joan Of Arc - Life Like Hercules Moments: The Victorian English Gentlemens Club - Bag of Meat Hercules Moments: Marvin Gaye - What's Going On (40th Anniversary Edition) Hercules Moments: The Deportees - I Lost Her to the Sea Hercules Moments: Interview: The Savage Nomads Hercules Moments: Interview: Copy Haho Hercules Moments: Wild Flag - Wild Flag P.S. We reckon that the Wild Flag review might actually be a world exclusive, because as far as we can tell, no-one else has featured it yet!
  4. Good to see Seas, Starry acknowledging their influences in this video: Biffy Clyro (cause they're a great bunch of lads) and Shutterspeed Northern Lights showcase: June 20, 2011 | Aberdeen City News | STV Local
  5. This sounds cool. I'll have a listen in on Saturday
  6. I'm not going to get into a big debate about this, so let's just agree to disagree on the attitude thing. Wizard Festival sells out most years, though, so there must be some sort of festival demographic up here in the North East. Why they didn't latch onto Northern Lights - which had a much better line-up in my opinion - is anyone's guess.
  7. There's an article on the STV website here: Aberdeen music festival cancelled due to 'poor' ticket sales | Aberdeen City News | STV Local It seems that once again Aberdeen has been offered something truly great - something innovative and fun and a massive coup for the city - but the dour North East attitude got in the way. Again. It happens far too often up here: change seems to be met with a Granite-set determination to keep things they way they were. I really feel for the organisers - you've done a spectacular job, and you should be commended for all the hard work (and money) you've put into this. P.S. According to the STV site it was Faithless who were supposed to be the mystery guests.
  8. It's also unfortunately restricted to the USA.
  9. I have nothing to add but to agree with what everyone else has written. This is a bloody brilliant track. Well done guys, majorly looking forward to the new EP.
  10. Cheers guys. We managed to raise just shy of 300 for the Gambian Schools Trust, so we're really happy. Really appreciate everyone who came down and supported the night.
  11. In the intervening years they've release 3 or 4 albums and a couple of EPs. I think they're all pretty great. Think you can download a couple for free from their website. Really looking forward to this gig actually.
  12. Set times for tonight: 7.30-8.00 - Foxhunting 8.15-8.45 - Craig John Davidson 9.00-9.30 - Oliver Richards 9.45-10.15 - Steven Winton 10.30-11.00 - Davy Shanks 11.15-11.45 - Ashley Park
  13. Although it's a shame the weekly night is stopping, I'm glad to hear that DHC won't be gone for good. I'm also glad - on a selfish level - that the sporadic events will now be at the weekend, as I work on Thursday nights!
  14. Tonight at The Tunnels, the Gig for Gambia will take place to raise money for the Gambian Schools Trust. Doors open at 6.30pm and the party continues on towards midnight, with six of Aberdeen finest signer-songwriters strutting their stuff onstage: Steven Winton Ashley Park Oliver Richards Davy Shanks Craig John Davidson Foxhunting Entry costs a fiver, and all the money goes straight to the Gambian Schools Trust. Hope you can make it along to support this worthy cause. 16. Here's a wee feature about the Gig for Gambia on the STV website: Aberdeen student set to raise cash with Gambia charity gig | Aberdeen City News | STV Local Hope you can all make it along to help support this fantastic cause.
  17. I thought they were pretty dreadful last time they were here.
  18. Hello folks. I'm helping my friend Emma organise a charity gig in aid of the Gambian Schools Trust. The night will feature a whole host of the city's top singer-songwriters, and it would be great if you can make it along to support this fantastic cause. GIG FOR GAMBIA The Tunnels, 24th June, 5 (ALL money goes to charity) Appearing are: Steven Winton Ashley Park Oliver Richards Davy Shanks Craig John Davidson Foxhunting Facebook event: Gig for Gambia For more information on the Gambian Schools Trust, check out: The Gambian Schools Trust Educational Charity
  19. I don't think Weezer are shit at all. Yes, some of their albums are better than others (the first two being the best) but they all have at least one good song on them. The Radiohead cover is admittedly bizarre though. Actually, they did a great cover of Wheatus' Teenage Dirtbag at Leeds last year...
  20. Just found another STV video, not sure if it's been posted yet... Northern Lights: Four bands battle it out for spot at festival | Aberdeen City News | STV Local
  21. Pretty sure this is better than the original! Gave it a spin on my ASR show last week too
  22. That is indeed the correct gig, glad you enjoyed it! 'Join Hands' has been stuck in my head since I first saw them too... at Wizard Festival in 2009!
