  1. The misinformed and ignorant never cease to make me laugh. Why don't you quit your pointless course, walk out your mundane jobs and join them? Better than pissing and moaning about it.
  2. As far as working with mixdowns on your PC is concerned, WAV is the only format you need to worry about. You cannot create CD-DA files from your DAW, this is created when burning your audio to "red book" standard, as I mentioned. CD-DA files are unreadable on a PC as they do not contain the PCM data which is convertible into analogue audio, they're more like the shortcuts on your windows desktop. CD-DA = Compact Disc Digital Audio
  3. The only band I have heard on that list are Scunner whom I caught recently in Aberdeen. While they were ok, if thats the standard of band getting through, then Aberdeen bands have hit an all time low! Cheese metal, cock'n'roll and MTV2 clones....its music with a sell-by date, and its very close to expiration, hence none of the local bands I have caught recently will ever be taken seriously. I'd imagine the local bands that have blown me away recently don't care for silly battle of the bands style competitions anyway!
  4. Pretty funny...these amps sound horrible, can't believe the fuss over them! Personally I would feel bad buying anything from cash converters. An old friend sold his drum kit to cash converters to raise cash for relocating, they paid him a measly 250, and stuck a 700 price tag on it, and it sold! Sick isn't the word for how he felt! Poor guy....
  5. 16 bit 44.1khz stereo wav is the ONLY format for a consumer CD. Other formats exist such as SACD which is 24bit 96khz stereo, but nobody's standard CD players support these!! When you burn mp3's to an audio CD it just converts the files to this format anyway, so you are aswell keeping your files at full 16 bit 44.1 resolution...it wouldn't make much sense to reduce the quality via mp3 before burning your audio!! I recommend CD Architect by Sony which burns CD's the "red book" standard. http://www.sonymediasoftware.com/Products/ShowProduct.asp?PID=963
  6. There must be one of those emails that everyone forwards on that mentions these boys as I heard it at work the other day. Good on 'em!
