  1. not all american people wanted that, no. but i'm sure some did. i'm sure some are loving it.... as for most dangerous country??? i'm sorry but which country spawned gary glitter? i mean i know we have MJ, but apparently he's innocent.
  2. at the very least, though, bush is some sort of catalyst......
  3. meh. i'm just being annoying because i'm pretty bored and can't go out cause i'm broke.. i am american, but i am also italian and australian. i'm not exactly a huge fan of many things US-related, which explains why i live, work, and study here... still, not all americans are loud and arrogant (i'm not saying i'm not..... i don't know if i am)... but i think we deserve a bit more credit. even though bush is still there...
  4. come on, it's a discussion... by saying it is 'utter pish' that the UK is guilty of all the things you listed under your 'serious reasons' for disliking the US it was implied that the UK was blameless for everything. yes, you were being asked for your opinion on americans, but you haven't exactly limited yourself to that when you responded to GraemeC. Also... if you've only met 20-30 Americans, isn't it a bit harsh to say you despise the majority of a country? What else do you have to go on?
  5. let's see, no, Echelon, you're completely right. the uk is so completely and utterly guiltless of all things narrow-minded and horrible.... like the right to detain people based solely on suspicion???
  6. refreshing to read... www.pflagphoenix.org/advocacy/marriage/dr_laura's_leviticus.html
  7. 'emo people' is a different thing, i think. it's like making fun of religious people in a sense that it's something they can choose to be... but i don't really understand what it is to be "emo" beyond having pointlessly long, sweepy hair and stretching your ears... someone please enlighten me on this one..
  8. the french have this whole nonchalance thing going on where they don't get embarrassed about things.. it can come across as rude, but i don't think there's anything wrong with being straightforward..
  9. also.... if i had more time before cremating my food i would have pointed out that we don't spell things incorrectly, just differently.. there are a load of different dialects of many languages... who can say which one is 'right'?
  10. point taken. my bad, i was rushing, my dinner was burning... it is fixed now. but in my defense, the other dude was wrong first...
  11. so what do you like about it as a country? and what do you despise about its people?
  12. i don't think my dinner would stay down if there was more harold copping a perve.....
  13. it's all down to they way voting is tallied up... basically, each state has a number of points depending on it's population. i'm from texas, so my vote counts in texas only. seeing as texas in hugely republican (and bush's home away from dc) my vote, along with anyone else's in texas voting against bush, is wasted. completely and utterly wasted. useless... it all depends on where you live... there were reports during the last election that poorer people were being turned away from the polling booths because they didn't have the proper i.d. on them...
  14. that's kind of what i'm trying to understand.. (seeing as i am american and have suffered much abuse for being so from complete strangers) maybe i'm aiming this at the wrong kind of people... maybe i should venture into the depths of despair i know as town, saturday night, 3am, and ask people as they're leaving drum, or whatever the new amadeus is these days...
  15. well, considering the reactions i get from drunks in town (and they say being drunk gets rid of inhibitions and allows you to speak the truth, blah, blah, blah) i was under the impression we aren't very well received. i think a large part of that has to do with bush though.
  16. just curious about how American's are viewed here, what with all the complaining about things... are their accents cute or do they make your ears want to bleed? is the brash loudness endearing or annoying?? knock yourselves out.
  17. i say good. i don't like paul. he looks like the janitor from scrubs and cheapens my whole neighbors experience. and screw it, whilst harold's in a killin' mood, he shuold take out izzy, for screwing up karl and susan in the first place. (i am also extremely curious about skye's REAL drawing abilities. it's probably stick men)
