I'm not saying that something challenging has no value. I'm just saying what she does in that video is of no value to me personally. I don't expect agreement from you or anyone else here, I'm just not a fan of this art form. I see it as pretty elitist, and that isn't what art is about for me. I'm not trying to invalidate what she is doing, at no point have I said it shouldn't be considered art, just saying that I don't like it and that I feel there are more effective media for expressing feelings and emotions. This is all very subjective, so in no way am I saying I am right, just sharing my opinion. As for your second point, art isn't "left" for anyone. You make it sound like artists are an elite few who lord it over the rest of us Cavemen. Anyone can be an artist, if I'm pissed off at someone and write a song about it, it could be considered art. Not particularly good art, because I'm a pathetic songwriter, but art nonetheless. There is nothing stopping anyone creating art, the only thing in question is whether the work ends up having influence or cultural significance, and even if it doesn't, it's still art. If someone chooses to create art during their life, then it's up to them, it isn't "left" to them. Monet and Van Gogh would still have painted even if other, less skilled painters did too.

If it's premeditated, then I think it technically is art. This upsets me.

Art is something created by skill or imagination with a view to expressing views and feelings of the creator/demonstrating their skill. What this girl has done is clearly something from her mind and she is expressing something she is feeling, and therefore qualifies as art. However, I think it is bullshit. I hate this form of art. Yes, she is expressing something, but what is it? I don't have a clue, and so far no one in this thread has said what it is. I understand that not everyone is going to "get" all pieces of art, but if the vast majority of a sample audience don't have a clue what's going on, then what's the point? Surely there are more effective methods of conveying what she is trying to than clarting yourself in dirt, rubbing tinned spaghetti into your groin and taking a whizz on the floor in front of a live audience.

Firefly and TSCC being canned made me want to kill Fox and everyone involved (and I only discovered Firefly last summer through a friend, was genuinely upset after I watched the last episode). I'm a bit gutted about Heroes, the second season killed it by being pish, but the latest one was pretty good and the show seemed to be on the way back up. BBC news entertainment section said something about Tim Kring being approached about a movie to wrap it all up Serenity style?

Due to a dire bank balance and some expenditure coming up soon I've decided to sell my Ampeg SVT Classic bass head. It's 2 years old and has been a very faithful piece of kit, sounds great and has never let me down. Recently had 3 of the power valves replaced and it has a further 3 new ones going with it for when the other triplet goes. It is in totally perfect running order but has some wear and tear on the tolex from gigging (pics available on request). Specs can be found here Ampeg: Classic Series - SVT-CL Looking for 1100 GBP o.v.n.o , cheapest I can find on t'interwebs is about 1400 so I think this is a reasonable enough price. 2 hours well spent on monday night....

Myspace has kinda butchered the recordings a bit cuz it's shite, if you want to PM you your E-Mail I'm happy enough to send you the songs though. We recorded at a place called Red Eye Studio's in Clydebank with Steve Reilly (bass player in Glasgow band Logan). We can highly recommend going to him for recording, we had a very good experience. Mastering was done by a company called Audiomaster, who I believe are based in Yeovil and can also recommend highly.

It's cliched but the Cog one by Honda is awesome.

There were rumours at some point of SyFy picking up Terminator: TSCC from Fox, anyone have any idea if this is infact true? I miss that show .

What's truly appaling is that Milner is his international team mate, and a pretty important one at that. He risked severe injury to a player who could be key in England's world cup campaign, what an utter turd (not that I object to England having their chance of winning reduced, but still). And he's a cheating, smug wank with a drug dealer for a dad, he should be banned from everything forever anyway.
