  1. covers33.co.uk Not sure how cheap they are these days. They were very good value for 12" sleeves by the 1000 but they sent them all in the one box which I had to carry home from work and could barely lift.
  2. Worrying a few people plan to tidy their flats in 2007. Is it something they forgot to do in 2006? :-)
  3. Only on the 4th day were the luminaries - the sun and moon set in place to give a reference frequency to measure the passing of time. "...they shal serve as signs, and for festivals, and fror days and years ..." So the first three 'days' were indeterminate periods of time as God had not yet created the timeframe. There are whole loads of commentaries on why the world is 5767 'years 'old. It's Beresishis 1: 14-19 (Genesis) I don't have the commentaries (chagiga 12a, Vilna Gaon, Rambam et al) to hand and I can't be bothered typing out the Rashi. Wouldn't trust the translations in an 'old testament' with a bargepole either. You might note if you look at the original Hebrew text there is a missing vav in the first reference to lights compared with the sexond reference. This may be revealing that the lights were less bright in the beginning than on the fourth day. IIRC Rashi explains that the luminaries were not yet set in place. The earth is travelling round the Sun a day is a longer time than 24 hours while the luminaries were being brought into place. One could extrapolate the brightening of the lights were in preparation for Adam Ha Rishon and henceforth humanity for the 6th day. It depends which level you are reading or wish to read the script at. The 1st chapter is quite illustrated in symbolism so perhaps Zohar, Sefer Yetzira or Tanya may give some insight on how to read into the verse .
  4. The guy from snatch. Wish I could box as well as him though.
  5. Most door stewards I have encountered are polite and friendly. Then I'm usually only in places where Option 1 are on the doors .
  6. Yes my brodband has dropped 3 times tonight too. I'm on a different ISP but the DSLAMs are in a BT building.
  7. There was a huge fight on Belmont Street at club closing time on Saturday morning. About 20 people were involved. I waded in to try and split people up but there were too many people involved. There were several arrests. It looks like someone was attacked, their mates jumped in and a load of other people jumped in. There were some neds who didn't appear to be associated with either side who jumped in just for a scuffle. Many of the witness statements were less than impartial. Unusual for the Drummonds crowd to be involved in fighting. It's normally trouble free with the regulars in there.
  8. Nice one - getting replacement papers. Hope you both enjoy it all the more for all the hassle, expense, shoe leather and travel you've both gone through So you should be cracking skulls when you get back. Try and forget it while you're on holiday. Hope you come back from Goa ( r u going to Anjuna?) with a passion for Goa (psy) trance. Maybe you can organise a Psy-night at wherever you promote for.
  9. A pal of mine works in Hatstand Nelly. You could get yer mum a hairdo (they had a hairdresser as a finalist in H/D of the year), manicure, massage (IIRC) they have a juice bar too. Nothin better than a mineral-rich dead sea mud mask / body-wrap to deep-cleanse and detoxtify the skin.
  10. How did things go today then Wax? Any joy getting passport/s and visa/s? Lucky ducks - going to 604.
  11. I only use work computers during worktime for work. It's my employer's time and spending the day skiving on internet fora is theft of time from them which is every bit as serious as theft of money. . Employer are quite within their rights to block forums and personal use websites. It spoils it for other people who want to check things up at lunchtime when some users abuse their internet access at work.
  12. Aberdeen Scooter Club are quite quiet now. I've only seen one person from Aberdeen S.C. at recent rallies and dos (Peterhead SC @ Cruden Bay) which was rather disappointing. We all used to drink in Simpsons before it shut and turned into Triple Kirks then the club sort of fizzled out to my knowledge. I'm sort of banned from where they drink now so I can't catch up with them. Some of them, as far as I am aware, still meet up on a Saturday afternoon in the Holburn area. I was out with a guy from Aberdeen S.C. on Saturday but I forgot to get his number. Next time I see him, I'll ask where and when they hook-up. I'm not sure how many of the old lot even have scooters now. Most are married with a kid (when they should be having fun?!?) Outlaws are still going, there are a few round my neighbourhood.
  13. Contact a solicitor ASAP. I don't want to worry you but a lost passport is serious business. Someone may have stolen it. Passports are worth a lot of money on the black market depending on the country of issue. A British passport I'm told can change hands for 2 grand. Fraudsters can use the passport to steal your identy and apply for credit cards, loans etc and the situation can get messy. A pal of mine lost his and CID were round his house questioning him, implying he sold it and the onus of proof seemed to be on him to prove his innocence. Try to get something in writing from whichever agency or organisation lost it. Visit Queen Street Police Station and ask for the Nationality Office. I lost mine after having to use it as ID to get money out the bank when I lost my bank card. Good luck and enjoy your holiday.
  14. Best consult an independent financial advisor. If you have a decent bank manager s/he will be able to recommend investments for your circumstances. The bank will have their own brokers but they will be execution only, register with them anyway. My Dad's portfolio was recommended by his bank manager and he gets a decent income fom it. I put together my own portfolio. Consider changing banks to one that can offer a Money Markets account with tied share-dealing services - it's so much simpler to just phone up on the spur of the moment and invest in a stock. Dividends are paid to the account and you can tie them up there for re0investment. Bank of Scotland were decent like this - one could manage business money markets account, personal money markets account, savings account, current account, visa and sharedealing in one phone call. Then they merged with Halifax and the banking is not so joined up. The FT publishes twice a week the types of accounts you can get at each bank. Before investing: 1 Pay off non-mortgage debts. 2 Establish the level of risk you are comfortable with - FIs have empirical thumb rules based on factors such as your age so can help you out in this. 3. Establish if you are investing for capital growth or income - ditto. 4. Work out a cashflow budget. Monthly if you are paid monthly, weekly if you are paid weekly. If you want to pick your own investments you will need to do a lot of reading on companies and markets. Monitor the performance of tipsters to establish the reliability of their stock tips. I'd suggest FT Companies and Markets. Fool.co.uk Investors Chronicle (magazine) Shares (magazine) I'd suggest also registering with the FT Annual Reports service. You can then order annual reports of companies you are interested in investing in and the reports of their competitors and do your own analyses. Cash at hand is the most important thing with companies so simple liquidity and profitability ratios such as gearing, acid test are the independent investor's main tools. If you want to make investments regularly invest first then use the rest of your wages/ salary. If you only invest what you are left with at the end of the week you are liable to spend it and not invest as much as you would have liked. Invest in tranches of X GBP - it's a lot easier for evaluation of your portfolio. I'd disagree with another poster that telecommunications has high growth potential. There are literally millions of kilometres of dark fibre. The industry was overspeculative in the latter half of the nineties and there is a huge overcapacity. Mobile telephony is saturated too. Telcos however are tapping emerging markets such as China.
  15. I had several done in 1988/89. nipples, navel, lobes (2 or 3L 1R, septum, nostril the bit at the front of the ear. Mr Sebastian (who later had to retire due to Parkinsons Disease) and Patrick at London Piercing Studio in Selhurst did them except the ones on my naughty bits which were DIY. None now - took them out in 1990 so I could use the sauna offshore. I've no tattoos.
