  2. Heil Strimmer! If we're going to get into the computer vs conventional musical instruments field, I'd have to argue for the latter. I appreciate the 'pick up and play' aspect of a guitar or a drum kit. I've experimented with layering sounds, and it's the most boring thing in the world. You're always concerned with the finished product. I like to just pick up a guitar, and as Mr Moore demonstrates, simply kick out the jams for a while. Just look at his ancient face! He's fuckin' loving it! Forget sitting in front of a computer listening carefully for the tiniest of note changes. I'm not saying electronic musics bad to listen to, but I'd rather have my fingers lobbed off than go through the process of making it.
  3. I gotta say it was a fantastic gig. Mr Cynics played a belter, as did the Holy Folks. And Chriss TT was jawdropping. I knew he could write fascinating lyrics, but he has some rather marvelous chords to boot. I'm off to Amazon to buy 9 red songs.
  4. Haha, fo' truth! Mahogany 1, Bassist's face 0.
  5. That would be excellent, if not just for the Bjork/Radiohead colaboration.
  6. Vocals - Dennis Lyxzn (Refused) Guitar/backing vox - Ian McKaye (Fugazi) Guitar - Clark Domae (Rufio) Bass - Sting Drums - Jorg (Propagandhi) What an odd line-up.
  7. I'll be there fo' sure. I was at the Tunnels gig last time... and was one of the folks who dragged you lot to Drummonds afterwards. Bloody excellent evening it was.
  8. I got a shot of Doppleganger off my mate. The guitar is utterly amazing... hard to believe it's just one guy. Shame the vocals aren't quite my cuppa.
  9. No way folks, garden tools are only cool because they're 'retro' and are as a result uncreative as fuck. Join the strimmer revolution.
  10. Yup, he's pretty clever and has cool attitude towards music. Some of the songs are a bit too hip hop for my liking though, and his all-American-highschool kid voice voice gets on your tits after a few listens.

'Shoot you on your doorstep like Jill Dando'... That's not cool. Nothing about that guy does anything for me.
  12. 'Your...' and 'My...' bands. Fucking terrible.
  13. Likely problem with the Behringer is the bypass. I've read of people hating the Fender floor tuner because it guzzles tone like a bastard. Although that's because it's completely passive. if the Behringer takes a battery, then it might be worth a look. At fifteen quid, it's not a huge gamble... but I'd save up for the Boss. It's not like it would ever need upgraded.
  14. Yet again, you keep havering away Hairyscarymark. The thread was not asking about society's effect on musical culture. It was asking for personal tastes. You are burying way too deep here bud. Although I suppose if you see music as a way of impressing people through your apparent vast knowledge, then you could call your last few posts (which can frankly be described as boring essays) valid.
  15. After dishing out a fair bit of criticism to somebody elses corny ideas, I suppose it's only fair to chuck down what I'm listening to right now. I've lately been in the mood for punk: mainly Refused, Fugazi, Million Dead, Capdown and very recently, Propagandhi. Sometimes, I'll go for some rather classier post rock, along the lines of Explosions in the Sky & Silver Mt. Zion, or go the opposite direction with something less 'epic', like Ry Cooder (one of my high ranking favourites), Tom Waits, Django Reinhardt and Death Cab. There are others, especially some electronic influences... but those are no where near as important to me as the above. Edit: and of course Zappa and the Mothers. There's your fucking jazz.
  16. I dunno, there's just something about Simon Cowell's pop army that's disgustingly sterile.
  17. That is awesome. Summer's just around the corner when the Chilis come up with another boot stomper. Nobody pulls it off like Frusciante.
