  1. and finally ...some thomas traux from the recent tunnels gig i unfortunately missed Mr Milne's set...next time!
  2. had to compress this tae fuck, afore my broadband would upload at a reasonable speed. will post higher resolution next week. but aye, i digress...great night all round. have some nice TT video also... but alan's set sounded superb..
  3. thoroughly enjoyed the night. tune-yards were just fab. here's a bit o vid from the night.
  4. sorry for the lateness and fairly shoddy editing (my PC went wonky after a Bill Gate update) but here's a clip of the UTG Gig on Saturday 27th Feb:- please feel free to forward on the link and embed as may be pertinent. A hearty thanks to Mike @ IMP for organising! Bravo!
  5. i redid the video for the 1st encore. this one is higher quality/resolution. (anyone got a track name. I initially thought it was a Bob Dylan cover) and here's the 2nd encore "Singing Joy to the World" of thier new lp.
  6. Fruit Bats - video Fruit Bats video - 1st encore YouTube - trippinflags's Channel Top notch stuff, really enjoyed that gig.
  7. JG&tS Video Agreed. Kathy Ray was superb. I've not yet got that on youtube..maybe tomorrow. But here's some footage "Johan was a Painter and an Arsonist". YouTube - joe gideon and the shark johan was a painter and an arsonist II Really really excellent gig all round. I missed Amy Sawers (shall def. try my best to catch you next time) Tupelo Town Assembly were really good. BUT - JG & the Shark were just fookin' amazing. Best gig for ages. I liked Joe's vocal delivery - it reminded me of Hugh Cornwell's style. He kind of speaks some of the lyrics in a laconic drawl and I really liked the dark humour within the some of the songs. The lyrics were crystal clear (top marks mr soundman) and their narrative-driven style drew me into the songs. For a 2-piece they generated a tremendous sound. Pretty hypnotic / powerful stuff. And the drumming/percussion was a real joy to watch, as was the tinkering of looping techniques and the keys etc etc.. Easily the best 6.00 i've spent in ages.. IMP pull of another top gig.
  8. nice review.. Fay Fife looks remarkably good for her age. Saw Jo Callis last night on Top of the Pops 2 playing synth for the Human League on Don't You Want Me. Anyhoo - here's a clip from the Aberdeen gig:- YouTube - rezillos - top of the pops
  9. Caribou video Caribou's encore - its a long money shot but the goo starts at the 7 minute mark.
  10. stars of the lid - video youtube's 10 minute max rule meant this one got cut short :
  11. Magik Markers - IMP/triptych/tunnels video ...and here's some footage of M M's. Youtube have a 10 minute max rule and so i've missed out about 4 minutes of the start of this piece.
  12. Human Bell - Tunnels Here's one song from Human Bell's set from the Tunnel gig
  13. Ian Hunter after the disappointment of Caribou cancelling i decided to splash out and treat myself to an Ian hunter ticket - glad i did. It was an acoustic set with about four songs from his great new(ish) LP Shrunken heads, and songs from most corners of his back catalouge. Caught a few songs onto tape, here's my favourite from his new LP:- YouTube - Ian Hunter - Words (Big Mouth) Live
  14. ha! i'd describe it as luminous yellow, but "crazy green" will do! yeah...sound was good, just wish the bar lady woundn't throw the empties into her glass bucket with so much gusto mid-song...
  15. laura veirs - riptide the hauntingly beautiful "riptide" from Carbon Glaciers a really excellent gig.
  16. good to read these postings - particularly the prof-lofi one, my views and comments are/were based on my own fleeting visits which were predominantly to (for want of a better word) "rock" gigs. Your post was a timely reminder to a lot of the less glamorous work that went on. So thanks for bringing that to light. and lastly... a reminder of one of my very special nights at ti't tree love..simply love ps a great tribute to Arthur was had!
  17. this IS bad news! I never ever saw any posters for the Lemon Tree gigs outwith the venue. (Sure I can check the interweb thingy for gigs , but hey, things like that aren't always on my mind). But, I always see posters for the likes of The Tunnels gigs. Cafe Drummond probably gets a lot of business due to its geography. Stick it out near mounthooly, and it wouldn't get the passing trade. I think someone earlier mentioned the LT security. Its been an annoyance to me for many years. I almost got to the point that I thought they actually enjoyed disturbing customers about where they stood and where they leaned against. For that reason, ?I almost preferred Mosholu. At least I felt like I was at a live gig - and not an "airport foyer" as someone else pointed out. But , for all the mistakes, faults etc, it will be a great loss. And on the back of Fopp going, I feel very sorry for the staff. oh and my heart goes out to "Hells Bells" - where the f*ck are they going to play now? Aberdeen survived The Venue's closure... or did it?
  18. Hugh Cornwell video - goodbye toulouse hugh was grrrrr 8 here's goodbye toulouse :-
  19. Alela Diane Video Grrreat stuff on Wednsday night. Here's one track of Alela Diane's : Just kicking myself I never captured a song or two of Simones. ...that and i managed to miss the Kitchen Cynic once more!
  20. phew... great stuff.. a couple of clips i've uploaded to youtube:- Buzzcocks stole the weekend for me. Autonamy : Bunnymen - - Mack the Knife - cool as...cool as.. (will have some footage up sometime later..) Kasabian - Opened with Shoot the Runner - which was great...then i stayed for about 4/5 more songs and then decided my sleeping bag and tent were missing me... Dirty Pretty things - Not bad...didn't quite fill the stage... too big a gig for their type of sound. Primal Scream - Patchy...but not without moments of excellence. Swastika Eyes : 8-)I Missed John Martyn's set, unfortunately
  21. Hafdis Huld Cancelled don't know if an official announcement has been made or not, but Hafdis is ill with a lung infection and this gig is cancelled - once again! bah humbug!!
  22. Jess Klein video A couple of songs from Jess' set:- The Same Thing (sexy cover version of a Willie Dixon song) YouTube - Jess Klein - The Same Thing and self-penned "All I Ever Had" from her new album "City Garden" :- YouTube - Jess Klein - All I Ever Had great voice - great gig. tf ps - I've also got one song by Sarah Tingleon tape which i'll put up on youtube soon. Its the one where Fiona joined her on stage to do the drum sounds on the ironing board (which was last used by Faust I'm reliably informed!) pps - i'll also put up "Joleene" due to popular demand..
