  1. Hmm? I think I may know this friend of yours, and he does have good taste. Oh yes and Errors are very good live.
  2. Once again the guys from Radio Skool return for another dose of audiotainment. Yep Dee J A'La Fu and QuidProQuo will take you on a musical journey, with their skills based in hip hop but with records collections that would fear you, you never know what they'll pull out the bag. Anyone who has been before will know the script and those who don't should come down and check it out. Having previously hosted Lady Sovereign, Roots Manuva, Andy Votel, Lotek Hifi, New Flesh, Sugarhill Gang, and many more as well as A'La Fu having played everywhere from Glastonbury and Trans Musical to sets in Israel, Moscow, Croatia, Australia USA etc etc and has dropped numerous fine Radio Skool mix CDs and even a mix for Ninja Tune's Solid Steel the quality shows. There is also a live visual onslaught courtesy of the excellent Particleworkshop. It's all lively from 10pm - 3am and it's only a 5 to get in. Snafu // 1 Union Street // Aberdeen // http://www.clubsnafu.com
  3. Either way it will be an interesting affair I rekon.
  4. Well I guess you can hold out until they return to Aberdeen to do a full live set, whenever that would be. Acts like Chicks On Speed are not offered all that often on your own doorstep and when they are whether it be a full live set or them djing/semi-live you can't really knock it back. They will apparently have a VJing element and they've requested some lighting to show off their "get ups". Or so I am told. You never know what these ladies will pull out the (hand)bag!
  5. It will be a DJ set. I presume they will also have some visuals on display, if not I'm sure we can provide some nice graphics.
  6. Indeed, should be good. I think I will be a bit more sober than Tuesday though!
  7. Here is a link to some of MSTRKRFT's music including a live set. http://hype.non-standard.net/artist/MSTRKRFT See you there.
  8. The Dirty Hearts Club tonight features two bands as well as the DHC djs. All The Girls from Perth described as a cross between My Chemical Romance and The Killers through the powerpop songs they play. Check them out here :: http://www.myspace.com/allthegirls Secondly, from Glasgow, are The Rainbow Family. Inspired by everyone from The Carpenters and Brian Wilson to Silver Apples and Aphex Twin they combine organic and electronic equipment and have even produced work with Ron St Germain whose credits include Jimi Hendrix and Aretha Franklin. Even though they are young men they have played all over in numerous guises but The Rainbow Family remain their melodic hybrid. The track "I Can See A Rainbow" was Rob Da Bank's tune of the month on The Blue Room on Radio1. Have a blast of them here :: http://www.myspace.com/rainbowfamilymusic All lively from around 10.30pm until 2am. Plus it's only a few quid to get in so thats nae too bad either (unless you enter the quiz from 8pm then you can hang back for free!). I am assured there are some deals on at the bar too. Enjoy. http://www.myspace.com/dirtyheartsclubsnafu
  9. Radio Skool present direct from San Diego comes MC extrordinaire Scribe Sayar fka Rune Orfeus. As the man behind SDHiphop.com and having released numerous critically acclaimed 12"s and LPs including his "Urban Music Life" LP (Award listed by US Music Academy) and his releases as part of Observatory Swivel, which included one Dee J A'La Fu, Scribe has been producing hip hop music (both beats and lyrically) for over 16 years. Having toured all across the world and rocked shows on every continent this will be an exclusive chance to catch a true talent who is not over or underground, he is everyground. This is not just for hip hoppers, this is for music fans! On the night he will be joined by Radio Skool's (and Aberdeen's own) Dee J A'La Fu and QuidProQuo. Friday 27th May from 10pm - 3am and only 3 before 11pm and 4 after you can't complain. Click the flyer to find out more. For info/guestlist email - info@radioskool.com
  10. RFR Promotions and Snafu present from Toronto, electro-punks MSTRKRFT! The duo who not only boast one half of the very fine Death From Above 1979 but have also been responsible for some amazing remixes of people such as Annie, The Kills, Buck 65, Nine Inch Nails and the incredible "2 More Years" remix by indie darlings Bloc Party. They have also just produced dancefloor gold in the form of "Easy Love", a vocoder based track the likes of which Daft Punk wish they'd written which has label mates Metric's "Monster Hospital" reworked by the MSTRKRFT duo of ALP and JFK on the flip. With a history in punk bands and a love of electro and house and a CV boasting solo production work for everyone from Jay-Z, Armand Van Helden to Blood, Sweat and Tears frontman David Clayton-Thomas so you can tell these guys have a diverse range of skills. Be there or don't say "....aww I wish I'd seen them" when they, and new album "The Looks" is released soon and they become even bigger. Both ALP and JFK will be djing in Snafu (1 Union St) on Tuesday 30th May, yes Tuesday, I know it's a week night but these guys don't come along very often. It will be on from 9pm - 2am and only 6/5 to come in. Advance tickets will be on sale soon. More info here http://www.myspace.com/mstrkrft and here http://www.clubsnafu.com
  11. I was also dissapointed by the ammount of people who left as soon as King Creosote had finished leaving Akron Family with not a great deal of people to play to, shame as they were very very good. Yes the talking thing was an issue, happened the next night at Odetta with a guy who clearly knew a bit about her, but there was no need to talk about it while she is talking and everyone is (trying) to listen!
  12. Tomorrow night Gilles Peterson is joined by Japanese jazz funk sextet Soil & "Pimp" Sessions and Radio Skoolers in Snafu as part of the Triptych. Anyone who has heard these guys before will know the quality and for those who haven't :: http://www.soilpimp.com Check the discography section for some audio/visual treats. These guys are going to be amazing and the seasoned selector Gilles Peterson abily assisted by DJ Kuni and Radio Skools own Dee J A'La Fu and QuidProQuo so this will be very special. Friday 28th April from 10pm. Snafu 1 Union Street Aberdeen http://www.clubsnafu.com
