Mr C was originally most famous as the front man of The Shamen; the techno-rave outfit that scored huge hits and notoriety in the 90s with tracks like Ebeneezer Goode. But Mr C's progress, before and after he gained global fame, has been characterised by a devotion to electronic music and a solid DJ career that sees him playing around the world plus running the underground Superfreq night both in Ibiza and in The End's lounge on Sunday nights. Making a name for himself as a rapper throughout his teens, going by the name Chelsea Boy, he decided to change his name to Mr C, because "C goes with everything. It's easy to rhyme." The newly named rapper then fell headfirst into London's vibrant acid house club scene, soon working with DJs like Kid Bachelor, 'Evil' Eddie Richards and Colin Faver . He made his first record in 1987 with Eddie Richards. Called 'Page 67', it came out under the name Myster-E, prompting him to start Djing. "The mixing was spot on - straight away," he says. "Before you know it, I was one of the biggest names in London." Mr C then became one of the first stars of dance with The Shamen, touring the world, selling millions of albums, and paving for way for acts like The Prodigy, Leftfield and Underworld. After forming the groundbreaking Plink Plonk record label in 1992, Mr C went on to open The End with Layo Paskin (of Layo & Bushwaka!) in 1996, and watched its impact on the capital: “It has been a direct influence on the whole of club and bar-restaurant culture in London." The End even launched its own genre: tech house. The phrase - which can mean anything from house and techno, to breaks and tribal - signifies more of a mindset that a type of music. Says Mr C, “it's an attitude. Like acid house was an attitude…" The DJing style he has become best known for in recent years, however, is underground-electro-acid house, and that’s the sound that fills AKA on Sunday nights. As well as the Superfreq party, Mr C also runs a record label of the same name with partner in crime, Luke VB, and produces as the Sycophant Slags with production partner Adultnapper and this year was at the controls for party season at Ibiza's DC10. So there you have it, a bit of luck, a lot of hard work, and a tons of attitude got Mr C where he is today. He reckons the secret of success is never standing still: "I've got a very low boredom threshold," he grined. Last time we had Mr C up he fell in love with Snafu, and if you remember he tore the roof off with his minimal blips and bleeps exploding into wild electro grooves !!* His Chealsea Boy and Shamen roots also came out that night, with some amazing freestyle rapping over some deep deep beats. As a producer moving from the sounds of Madchester to downbeat to experimental techno the '90s, Weatherall could've easily ridden the big beat or high-profile-DJ waves at the end of the decade, choosing instead to pursue, and in many ways define, a more cutting-edge, IDM approach. He participated in two big-name collaborations which would appear on Warp Records, beginning early on in the label's now highly respected run and remains one of the world's most dedicated and top DJs. His remix and collaboration work is stellar – working with the likes of Paul Oakenfold, The Happy Mondays, Primal Scream, Bjork, One Dove and Beth Orton. Infact, the overwhelming success of his work on Primal Screams - Screamadelica contributed to Weatherall's place as one of the U.K.'s top remixers and producers. Later on in his career; Weatherall dove further into the techno pool to form Sabres of Paradise with Jagz Koomer and Gary Burns – the three released a series of pioneering, ambient experimental techno singles and EPs on Weatherall's Sabrettes label. The techno fidget wasn’t content yet - in 1996, he formed the Two Lone Swordsmen with Keith Tenniswood and the Emissions Audio Output label. After working again with Primal Scream to produce the track "Trainspotting" for the movie of the same name, in 1999 Weatherall mixed the third volume of the Heavenly Presents: Live at the Social series. 2000-2001 saw two more mix records from Weatherall, as he and Tenniswood began the decade focused on DJing across the globe. With his finger-on-the-pulse awareness of electronic music both old and new, Weatherall has proved that the he continues to shape the more progressive landscape of British electronic music and looks set to do so into the foreseeable future. The Elevator tour features both House and Techno DJ sets (2 hours approx) and the live element (80 minutes) incorporating all Kevin's most popular productions from 1985-2006. This will include tracks from E-Dancer, Esser'ay, K S Experience, Kaos, Keynotes, Reese, Reese + Santonio, , Tronikhouse, E-dancer, Kreem, Inner City and The Reese Project. The live show will consist of stunning visuals featuring documentary footage blended with state of the art graphics mixed live using Pioneer DVJ technology, and crystal clear audio using Ableton live, final scratch + keyboards , taking the audience on a breathtaking journey through the roots and soul of Kevin Saunderson from house to techno and back again. These live shows will give Kevin the opportunity to entertain and inform his audience on his unique history. This incredible body of work, which for the first time will be under one umbrella, will clearly define and clarify the artistry of the man they called THE ELEVATOR. True to his dream, Kevin Saunderson elevated the deep sound of Detroit Techno and took it from the underground into the hearts and souls of music lovers the world over with his Inner City and The Reese Project recordings. These live events will surely be remembered for years to come as a celebration of the one Techno's greatest ambassadors.

CRAZY P * LIVE SAT 10TH MARCH Crazy Penis started by duo of Chris Todd & Jim Baron back in 1995 recording for the awesome (sadly now defunct) paper recordings . Now on there 4th album and renowned for their tight production and funky summery grooves this duo latest album sees brand new tracks from an intense studio session and a more organic direction to create a fluid album of digi-discoid-electro-funk. "A Night On Earth" the brand new Crazy P album is an epic journey to the dark side of the funk, full of rare groove and disco flavours, a coming of age album for a truly gifted group of musicians. Having met whilst at Nottingham university, the two’s love of 70’s disco & soul and the thriving British/U.S. house scene saw them start crafting their own unique brand of soulful dance music. With very little equipment and a name to shock, the budding bedroom producers started writing and recording together. Having got lots of positive feedback from mates who heard their tracks, the lads plumped up enough courage to send some of their quirky funk off to the newly formed, but already reputable label, Paperecordings, based in Manchester. Within days of sending the tape, paper head-honcho, Elliot Eastwick was on the phone; they loved the tracks and wanted to sign them for release. This was the start of an eight-year relationship with the label, which spanned numerous 12”, remix and album releases. Having made an impression on the worldwide dance scene with their debut album ‘A Nice Hot Bath With….’, requests started coming in for Crazy Penis live shows across Europe and the world. Chris & Jim knew they needed help to translate their richly orchestrated sound to the live format and so started their search for like-minded muso’s to join the merry throng. They didn’t have to look too far…..Bassist, Tim Davies (an old school-mate of Jim’s, and involved in the conception of the first Penis album) was drafted in along with ex-cream percussionist, Mav. The final member to join, vocalist (& Manchester socialite) Dannielle Moore was spotted by Jim doing a rousing Shirley Bassey impression at a Manchester house-party in the very early hours of the morning!!! The line up was complete. The band is a tight combo taking in dreamy disco grooves, wicked diva vocals and funked-up, jazztastic beats that can bust out into some broken beat/nu-jazzy/house hybrid while laying down sweet-deep grooves. Where they really shine, though, is in their soul. Like Zero 7, they have a very dreamy R&B sound that's quite laid back, relaxed, and more dependent upon their own musicianship, songwriting, and vocalists than on the latest gadgets on their drum machines. The last few years have seen the group blossomed into a fully-fledged eight-piece ensemble, with a fast-rising reputation as one of dance music’s best live acts. It’s certainly a far cry from the days when Chris and Jim would knock up sample-adelic dancefloor tracks using just a sampler and a battered old Atari ST. Live Highlights of the year included the Good Vibrations tour in Australia where 9000 people went ballistic during a heatwave, The Big Chill, Moscow and the renowned Irish craziness of Dublin and Cork (so good, the promoters rebooked the shows within days!!!). 2006 has brought the Crazy P sound to a new level.
