  2. Oi Oi mate with Laila it is difficult to prevent feedback, I know that (I've done sound myself for her). We didn't get a soundcheck because it was an alldayer, she has an unusual voice, in soundcheck is where these things get sorted as you know. We have to deal with going on and winging it fair enough but its just the way it is innit! I'm unsure if its simply about 'singin deep into the mic and waving it about infront of monitors', as much as having a high, reedy voice and moving about a totally reasonable amount for a band of this type to be fair mate... But thanks for helping with the sound mate, safe. And thnaks to the people that watched us and danced about and made it a cool gig. Thanks even to those who hate us but sat and had a drink and let everyone get on with it. Awesome! See you guys again soon hopefully.
  3. No, I don't think you are missing the point, its fair enough in many ways. But to be honest, you can't please everyone and if the heading of the day mislead anyone I'm sure it wasn't intentional. And maybe with your feedback Kirk might think twice about calling a night 'ska' again and call it 'ska-core' instead unless its the more revivalist music you seem to be after. I had a great time anyway and it was cool to see a nice crowd. I reckon you would love Zen Baseballbat. Yeah, dude that didn't like the new stuff, fair enough, all good! As long as people don't start calling us names I think its all well and good! And thanks to the people that did like it. The hip-hop ska!
  4. I don't class us as ska at all. But if I was into ska to the amount that you are I'd think I could see the elements of the ska sound within the bands enough to understand that has how the music has developed over time and continues to... In fact I dunno if you noticed but one of our new tunes was based on a sample of 'the Selecter' which was the b-side to Gangsters, the first single on 2-tone. Anyway, I do understand how guys like you that want to see a more traditional sound aren't that into the newer blends. Can I suggest Zen Baseballbat and the Scrub and Catch It Kababs as bands that take a more forward 2-tone sound and update it accordingly that you might get a little more pleasure from? As well as the bands Captain Kirk suggested.
  5. Anyway, sorry about this, Amy, I popped in here to see if those pictures that you took (specially the crazy one of Laila) were still up anywhere. Do you have a link for it?
  6. What gig was this? I have no problem if you and your music teacher thought we were shit but the other stuff, can you explain yourself? I really don't remember 'headlining one of your gigs'. And if we turned up late it was because we have jobs and would have told the promoter. And guess why we need jobs?!
