I ran into someone on Friday who mis-remembered the name as 'RAM It In' festival, which is dodgier-sounding still. We actually chose the name through a contest with our members. Tell everyone you know about it to help make it a success and hopefully there can hopefully be a RAM It Down 2016. As pointed out, RAM It Down is the title track of a Judas Priest album. RAM is also the initials of the student society who put on the event (Rock And Metal). We have a scary sheep as a logo because of this

I have tried adding the same event again (RAM It Down Festival). If I haven't added the information correctly or something like that, I would appreciate if one of the admins told me.

I tried to add an event called RAM It Down Festival on here (23 May 2015 at Garage). I have since noticed other events have been appearing from Calender Bot, but mine has not. Have I done something wrong in the way I added the event?

You need to troubleshoot the problem by going through each part of your setup individually until you can isolate the cause of the problem. You mention the word 'feedback'? Is it possible that your EP booster has been damaged and is now shorting internally, creating a feedback loop? Have you tried with the EP Booster by itself without other pedals? Also, have you tried it running off a battery rather than an external power supply? So, you have established this feedback only occurs when the EP booster is plugged in? Does everything sound fine when the EP booster is plugged in but bypassed? What about other pedals, do you get feedback when you switch them on? I'd suggest looking into how it is set up and powered before buying more pedals, not that a noise gate isn't worth considering as an option at your disposal, but you should try and get everything as fault-free as possible before adding anything else. I have a number of high gain pedals (distortions, fuzz and overdrives) and don't have issues with uncontrollable feedback, noise, humming or hissing - even with single coil pickups or high gain humbuckers. I've not been tempted to get a noise gate.

I have 4 Mooer micro pedals on the way from China. Picked them up around £25 each. I ordered their Rat copy, Bluesbreaker copy, OCD copy and Phase 90 copy. It is not yet clear if they all are direct copies but, according to analysis of componants that I readon a forum, the Bluesbreaker copy appears to be an exact copy of a Bluesbreaker V1b. The idea behind this is to be able to fit more than the 5 or 6 pedals I would typically be able to fit on a pedaltrain mini. I also wouldn't mind the real versions of those pedals, but don't want them enough to justify spending the full price on them or the space on the pedalboard they would take up. The reviews are mostly very good but they are definately better for some of the Mooer range than others. Next step is to actually get a pedaltrain mini and a suitable power supply. I quite like the idea of the Pedaltrain Volto with 2x9V 1000mA each from rechargable battery (eliminating problems of picking up noise form lighting and dishwashers on the same circuit). It is set to be released at the beginning of next year, so will probably use something cheap until then.

We have a bass player who is interested and going to give it a go this week after getting in touch on this forum. Having a specialist keyboard player isn't required for making recordings as I can add the keyboard parts myself. It is just when we begin to play live that it is a concern and we have a few options of what to do about that. I factored this in when writing and deliberately made the keyboard parts reasonably simple, as to minimize problems of this variety in the future. One option would be to accomodate keyboard playing without introducting new members. This would mean our singer might play keyboards while also singing in the band. Alternatively, she can play some rhythm guitar parts and split the live keyboard playing with me. I understand this might not be entirely preferable but it is potentially workable and has the advantage of not introducing additional personalities or people that are liable not to turn up for rehearsals. Another posibility with this approach would be that some of the keyboard parts can be missed out live when they aren't that important or are difficult to play while singing. Alternatively, a friend of the band could play keyboards but would probably need to be leant equipment as they tend to only have entry-level stuff or a piano. This may however be a decent option if they are willing to put in the work. We have someone in mind for this. Maybe a keyboard player will see this advert and apply.....

To clarify, we are principally looking for a bass player as the keyboard playing can potentially be accomodated within the existing band with a level of compromise and we have friends who can play keyboards to levels that would be alright in this band. If we did find a suitable dedicated keyboard player however, that would be ideal, but we anticipate that being more difficult than finding a bass player. Age range of the band is currently 18-26 (I think as there have been birthdays recently).

You also need to make your pedals perfectly align with each other, as looking at your board is making me develop OCD . Preferably also get neater cabling..... Nice pedals you have.

There are currently 3 of us in the band; a female singer, a drummer and a guitar player who has been adding keyboards to the recordings. We had a bass player but he had to quit all of his bands for work reasons. We have been writing songs and rehearsing since the start of summer. I've ran a Line 6 DL4 off a PP2+ before. There is a special red cable that you get with it and you select 'L6' mode on one of your high load channels. Boss pedals hardly require any load, as do most things. I understand some of the cheaper pedal power supplies are internally the same as a daisy chain, just with individual sockets. I've never had much of a problem with noise running a PP2+ and I'd say it's worth it for piece of mind and also the features, such as different voltages, loads etc. I've noticed that some pedals can optionally be run at 12V or 18V for increased headroom and 'fatness'. I'd recommend looking at the different options for power supplies, as there are a quite a few high end options out there and the features vary to an extent. Mod Tone, T-Rex, Cioks, Eventide, amongst others are worth investigating. Some people reckon fuzz always sounds best running off batteries. You also get a fair bit of warning during playing when it is about to go as it becomes quieter and eventually gated (unlike a delay pedal, which tends to be hopeless when running off batteries). I've tested the batteries vs the voltage SAG control and ended up opting for the reliability of plugging it into a power supply. When I've left things set up with batteries, I've had pedals accidentally get switched on and drain the life of the batteries.

As much as I like the sound of it and am willing to believe it is awesome. That fuzz demo sounds like it has too many volts going to it for my liking. I'd recommend experimenting with less supply voltage. I gathered from the video it has one silicone and one germanium transistor? My Earthquaker Devices Hoof Fuzz has one of each like that and is completely awesome. I experimented with the 'sag voltage' control on my power supply (Voodoo Labs PP2+) until it sounded a bit nastier and more controlled in the bottom end without losing too much sustain, alternatively really crappy dying batteries can do the job.

Watts are not all that relevant for volume as far as guitar amps are concerned. There is likely to be notable 'character' difference between a 100 watt and 50 watt model in the same line but the overall volume is unlikely to be all that directly connected with watts in any meaningful way and more volume may not be desirable. Speaker efficiency is something to look at if you are concerned about volume. In the same conditions, you need to increase the number of watts 10 times to double the volume.

TC Electronic just released the Flashback X4 delay. It is a bigger, more complex version of their compact Flashback delay with 3 presets, midi and a physical tap tempo button. http://www.tcelectronic.com/flashback-x4-delay.asp As a delay unit, it seems to be somewhere between a Lin3 6 DL4 and higher end options like Strymon Timeline and Eventide Timefactor and has greater advantages as a looper, such as an undo button and 40second of delay time. I do wonder however if it is really enough of an upgrade if you already own a DL4 or a couple of individual delay pedals. I would prefer more than 3 presets and don't see why it couldn't offer that without compromising on usability in any serious way and I am not sure if it sounds quite as good as the options from Eventide and Strymon. Definitely a killer unit though and the price is good at ~£200.

It depends how much money you are willing to be spend. Xotic Effects RC boost is meant to be good. Suhr Koko Boost is meant to be excellent and has two stages, a clean boost and a mid boost. If you're combining it with a big muff, I could imagine a mid boost might be very useful after your muff if you want to cut through in a solo.

So, as far as I understand it, the buses are mostly going to be running slightly less often with more diversions that might be useful if you go to RGU or one of the other places they are now going via? There are a few possible improvements but mostly the buses will be less frequent and a few routes will now be run by stagecoach which means that you cannot get a first day ticket and use it across town for the entire day if this is the bus route you require first thing in the morning.

Is this the same model I have (although in blue rather than sunburst)? http://www.fender.com/en-GB/products/classic-player-60s-stratocaster If so, £250 is a very good price and a well thought of guitar. It's been my go-to guitar, ever since I bought it around 2-3 years a go.

I often take things on and off depending on what I'm doing. I already have 10 planet waves patch cables from their pedalboard kits, which I haven't even needed to make all of yet. They are good cables, which are easy to build and dismantle as required. There is plenty of length that comes with the kits for the sake of alterations. If there is no chance of me using a particular pedal, I'd rather not have it in the signal chain. 2 pedalboards is kind of necessary for me from the point of view of having a small one that can be carried around without a car and a larger one that has everything I want on it. Duplicate pedal types aren't required at first but it may be helpful to have the option of not changing anything. I also potentially envisage a gig type situation where it is useful to have 2 reverb pedals, effectively being used as 2 different reverb types/presets. It would also give the option of potentially stylising a particular setup in the future i.e. one being more retro than the other. I still need to buy a Pedaltrain Mini and a One Spot at some point as I currently use my PT-2 and Pedal Power 2+, which doesn't work without a car to move it about. I agree with you about not rewiring the board much if you want more fancy options like switching multi channel amp and potentially being in the effects loop sometimes and in the front of the amp on other occasion. I am trying to work with the assumption I'll be running into a clean amp for the foreseeable future and get my board to do everything else. It suits my needs at the moment. In 4 years time, when I finally cave in and buy an ENGL head and a 4x12", then that will be a different matter.

There are many good options out there. The ones you have mentioned are great. I am not sure if the Hall of Fame sounds quite as good a WET reverb for the general studio reverb type sound but it doesn't have all the settings the Hall of Fame does and it is still nothing short of excellent. I can imagine the Hall of Fame might be the most flexible compact pedal option and if you want one small pedal that does everything - it would probably be the winner. The price is also really good. Strymon also have the 'flint' which has tremolo and reverb. Just heard this demo of it yesterday. I still kind of like the idea of having a simple pedal that just does a spring reverb sound and another that just does a more ambient/studio reverb sound really well and putting them on pedalboards accordingly, based on the sort of band I am playing on.
