  1. I'm cutting down on the amount of guitars I've got about the house so it's time to sadly sell on one of my Freshmans. This is a great guitar, and in fantastic condition bar one small chip of the finish on the lower back corner of the headstock. I'll throw in a Stagg padded soft case to avoid any more chips! Photos and info on this model can be found here: FA250DCE Dreadnought Electro Acoustic Guitar I'm only looking for 320 for it, sad to do it but the times dictate I'm afraid.
  2. Theres a reason for the cheap, the space is located about 15 minutes drive north of Ellon. We have a large room which is fully soundproofed, has tea and coffee making facilities, toilet, and a PA available for use. Looking for a band to make use of this, at a cost FAR below that of the aberdeen rehearsal places. If you're interested at all, then give me a shout back through here, or alternatively drop me an email at spbear5@yahoo.co.uk
  3. Some people just have a gift, that was bloody amazing!! Cheers for posting that link up, that's made my day that has.
  4. I've just listened to it, and it was the last thing I expected to hear!! The two versions are so different it's surely unfair for anyone to compare them,I like them both. And as a guitar botherer, I have to take my hat off to Jose for his interpretation of it like.
  5. Yep. First heard the album on Xmas day, it just blew me right away. I bet the poor sod is utterly sick of playing/hearing it by now though, he's been solid touring for months. Did hear a couple of new songs in the set, bodes well for his next release.
  6. Three points about last night: 1 Did nobody at Moshulu think to check that, apart from the front row, and freakishly tall people, nobody could see the guy play?! A taller stool would have been nice, or a raised part on the stage. Quote from a friend: "That's the most beautiful music I've ever heard a spotlight play" 2 I was lucky enough to get tickets for the Liquid Room gig in February, the place was silent when he played and the atmosphere that created was fantastic. Last night was all natter natter natter, real bloody shame!! 3 He was superb though, all that touring's paid off, nae mistakes this time
  7. I have to say thanks again for the responses here, wasn't expecting so much info/help! Looks like I'll have to take a day off and bumble about the various emporiums of musical delights, no cause for complaint there! This might be more appropriate for another thread, but the issue of bass effects being lost in the overall sound intrigues me, and brings up a wider point. Would it be valid to say there is a general perception that the bass is merely an accompaniment instrument? ie "Why bother with effects? It's only the bass" Rather than a melodic instrument which can contribute as much as guitars do to a song/tune when the opportunity arises? I might be standing on a soapbox here, but it'd be interesting to hear other folks' thoughts on this.
  8. "a complicated pedal like the tu-2 which uses smd resistors and caps, and requires specialist factory/machinery is not surprisingly over 70 retail" And worth every penny.
  9. Point taken, I'm being a bit harsh on the Behringer there. :O It does open a point though in that if they can produce these pedals, which are perfectly decent quality, for the price they're retailing for,are other companies ripping us all off? If the internal electronics are equivalent, is Boss charging me 40 more just for a fancy metal box? ?(
  10. Thanks all for comments like, It's a case of "try before you buy" I guess. For the main electric stuff I'm doing I'm only looking for a good overdrive, and maybe a delay,so separate pedals for that seems to be the way to go.I agree that too many bass effects just get lost in the overall sound, moderation is best. l'll have a look at those recommended, it'll be a fun afternoon in the shops. I mentioned the Boss board because I'd like to find a fretless effect, and bowed, for some acoustic projects we've got ongoing. There seems to be no specific pedals to get these effects, and a good fretless bass is a financial fantasy at the mo'. Anybody got any pointers?
  11. I'm looking to get a comprehensive effects set-up for stage and recording use. Individual pedals are a bit limited for bass I've found. The Roland V-Bass is just too expensive at the moment (one day though), and the next best thing I've found so far is the Boss GTB-6 board. Does anyone have/used one and comments either way on it's features and live use?
  12. And if you liked it before, you'll be moist for the new version. It's been "enhanced"
  13. Marshall do a top notch bass amp,the Dynamic Bass System 72115. It's a combo but well worth the dosh like!! 200W and everything from clean and REALLY bright, to overdriven, to well deep. Only question with it is why did they put a dial allowing you to blend valve and solid state? mine has never been on anything other than full valve!! I got one from r and b a few years back and wouldn't change it, well worth a try if there's one about.
