  3. just brilliant likewise, two fantastic nights in a row, thank you
  4. stop your usual whinging about this & check the save the lemon tree website
  5. For the person who is supposedly in favour of the live music scene in Aberdeen your credibility just went down the pan through your totally ignorant post. Should you & lots of people be asking questions about the MULTI millions of tax payers money the council have ploughed into the AECC (20m+ I am led to believe) Because of ths overlooked council folly, the council has larger than expected deficit & The Lemon Tree is obviously one of many smaller victims of this financial folly. At least The Lemon Tree covered the provision of arts & music for ALL the community.
  6. Does the march also need lots of noise/press to maximise impact
  7. that's great news i'm catching up on, naturally very disappointed about The Lemon Tree but iv'e heard from friends Caribou was pretty amazing in the Tunnels
  8. 13days till its officially gone!!!!!!!!!!
  9. obviously missed out on this, what is it, limited release for tour only? Think Caribou's latest release Andorra is just beautiful & lots of new things keep popping out upon each play
  10. Yesssssssssss this is fantastic news about Caribou, I was all hyped up to see them last time & had to go out of town, so fing missed I heard they were superb ya beautssssssss
  11. I'm speculating Michio Kurihara is going to play a wee solo set, now that would be fantastic
  12. hey guys got my copy of Whore Luck by Picastro, its very engaging & pretty wonderful; they deserve to be heard by lots on Thursday so here are some quotes via Polyviynl label Comparisons to Godspeed You Black You Emperor! and Dirty Three are inevitable, but Picastro also lay down all sorts of eastern European folk vibes. The beauty of the album unfurls slowly but surely. -The Independent Picastro's darkly moody, orchestral soundscapes echo everything from the Nico-fronted Velvets and the depressingly stark songs of Smog to Cat Power. -Now Exudes a sound seemingly tormented by sleep-deprivation, pain, and most pressingly - fear... Caught between Elliott Smith and Godspeed You Black Emperor, balancing pretty acoustic melodies with chillingly shrill clangs and screeches. -Pitchfork Media It's a beautiful car crash of an album, simultaneously pretty and dissonant, and utterly compelling no matter how jarring it gets. -All Music What raises Picastro above the herd of atmospheric noise-makers is that these tracks aren't instrumental jams, they're songs with all the structure and emotional closure that this implies. -The Sunday Times U.K. Heavy on doom, atmosphere, with violin, cello, piano and guitar all creating a sense of incipient Menace. -Q Magazine A gloomy variant of folk blues with a wide reach. -The Wire What really makes the band is Liz Hysen's vocals--strong, caramel textured and anything but ordinary. We just love it when a band comes out of nowhere on us. -Time Out New York Toronto's Picastro are a succulent mix of female vocals, cello, steeped electric and acoustic guitars, and drums to dwell upon. -Delusions of Adequacy
  13. seems like a deal, although I know nothing about Mr Leven but I will check him out. Any CD's worth investing in?
  14. such a fantastic line-up, Picastro were utterly sublime when they played Aberdeen the 1st time. Very excited by this event.
  15. Aye but you need to do something different from your usual on a Saturday night.
  16. Totally agree, they will be totally brilliant in a club setting
  17. hoping to catch the extraordinary Chap tonight, saw them in London six months ago. Superb live band
  18. Actually there were loads of people there just to see Gira & pay homage to his wonderful work in SWANS. Whilst personally I found his set too long I stood quietly & listened contently & then thought his set was actually okay. Thought the whole night worked really well beacause it attacted a whole range of people from 16 to 50+. Its great that a night like this happened & in the main worked because its not everyone's wish to go see yet another wanky four piece playing regurgitated & diluted JD/MBV/SM3......
  19. go into pitchfork & put Boredoms into their search facilty I believe reviwers have given some of their albums over 9. Can I say Boredoms were a MegaSUPERB live experience
  20. hey chilli hope this is well packed tomorrow, its going to be something special
