  1. Thanks, what's the web address for that? Pity your work is so useless when it comes to mics, innit.
  2. Can someone please recommend a vocal microphone, for home-recording purposes? I need it to record directly on to a digital 4-track, so it has to have an output socket, and ideally it would be available locally, for under 100.
  3. We're lucky to hae not only the act of it, but also the idea of it, as Nietzsche said: "The thought of suicide is a great source of comfort: with it a calm passage is to be made across many a bad night".
  4. I've got one. I'll be in (Old) Aberdeen all-day tomorrow if you want to exchange for the face value.
  5. Hog, are you planning on doing these during working hours, or at weekends? I can manage either, but I need to narrow down those times I'm free.
  6. With Extras, Time Trumpet and The Sopranos on tonight, this will be the best night of television since "Dan Cruickshank's Marvels of the Modern Age" finished...a few weeks back. I hope there is more "Cilla Black Autopsy": "here's Graham with a quick incision".
  7. My record player is just a few months old, so Alkaline's right, it probably isn't the needle. I'll pay Millers a visit. In response to the vinyl v.s CD debate, the reason I bought 1 is to play 12" singles, which have a better sound-quality than CD singles, I find, and allow for numerous, lengthy remixes. Also, if you've gone to the effort of putting on a record, you usually listen to it all the way through.
  8. I think it's dust that's the problem, but since even the new vinyls I buy are skipping, maybe it's a problem with my needle, or maybe I'm being sold duff copies. This may be a stupid question, but is it possible to clean the needle, or is it too delicate?
  9. What is the best way to clean them? Are there special dust cloths, and if so, is there anywhere that still sells them? Since I bought a record player, not one of my vinyls has played without skipping at some point.
  10. Hello, hello? More details, please...for my parents benefit.
  11. Thank goodness for you, french_disko, this was the only decent bit of info that came up when I typed "glasgow indian summer festival" into google. Apparently, I'm going now. For Hot Chip and absolutely no-one else.
  12. I just managed to get 2 tickets - 1 with restricted view - a few days ago, so I think it'll be sold out by now.
  13. That's...quite disappointing news. I can't imagine they'll be in keeping with the mood of the night. At least their Lurch-like bassist has comedy value, though.
  14. I dug this flick deep down, brother child...no that didn't sound right. The dialogue was only really impenetrable in the first half, and films should provide us with a new language anyway. I read a critic argue that the plot is the standard one for films since time immemorial, but I didn't notice this at the time, and I think I'll go and see it again too.
  15. It's all been downhill since Kinellar Fitzgerald, but: Echt and the Bunnymen (they had a great song called The Culter)
  16. Too right. Me and Laxton's Superb laughed long and hard enough to have achieved immortality.
  17. While spending so much time in airports and on aeroplanes last week, I got to pondering the top 5 acts for soundtracking international travel. And I concluded: 1, U2 2, Brian Eno 3, Kraftwerk 4, Talking Heads 5, Interpol
  18. Hmm, I'd be happy with the same next week, especially Still Ill and the Magazine cover (Song From Under the Floorboards), but I'm hoping for some more solo classics, like National Front Disco, Everyday is like Sunday, Suedehead or Boy Racer.
  19. I do. It's a MK II as well. Works fine, apart from the absence of batteries or mains. I'd lend or listen to offers
