  1. Went in town yesterday to buy it. Overall, pretty impressed, but a let down compared to 'Today's Empire'. I'll let it grow though. Even more metal influence comes through on this than before. Watched a live video a while ago and Chris was wearing a Megadeth tee, which kinda makes sense. Oh yeah, looked up about chris after thinking it sounded dodgy, from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Propagandhi
  2. From what i remember, he looked like lance, just didn't sound like him... Kinda sounded right by the end of the episode though
  3. Where's that? I can see a 'God Cares' poster in the background....
  4. What file type is it in? From that you know what codec pack to get for that exact file type, although an all-in-one should do the job. The easiest and best thing to do is download the vlc player, www.videolan.org If that doesn't play the file, it's pretty likely to be fucked It plays all...
  5. I could be totally wrong here, but isn't it chris that is the main singer, and the one who is singing in the track?
  6. Been listening to quite a lot of Ska lately (3rd wave - to keep soulboy happy ) and just wondering what everyone else's favs are/recommends. My top 5 would be: Streetlight Manifesto - Everything Goes Numb Catch 22 - Keasby Knights Choking Victim - No Gods, No Managers Less Than Jake - Hello Rockview and Losing Streak and maybe some Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra too What does everyone else think??
  7. Jesus, i never even knew this was coming...and i've been waiting for it for so long too! Track sounds good, close to the last album which i'm happy about. Really hope it lives up to 'Today's Empire" which i regard as a classic. Oh yeah, you spelt their name wrong too move the 'h' to the end.
  8. I heard he can drink one in 5 seconds. I heard that he is also crazy.
  9. Yep, defanitely get this. I'm just lucky i never got round to buying the dvd in the first place. Need to buy more of the comics too, probably get that yellow bastard 'cos that was the one i hadn't read that was in the film.
  10. http://business.scotsman.com/retail.cfm?id=337052005 Once read an article which has an interview with the owner and a picture of the shop and stuff...i'll go find. I remember the slogan: "Sofa King, Our prices are sofa-king low!"
  11. It's obviously his elbow.. Oh god...
  12. Probably Hallowed be thy name, 2 minutes to midnight or pashendale(sp?).
  13. Even if you don't think you've heard of them, take a listen to hocus pocus and chances are you'll recognise it. Classic song
  14. Got the live action version (UK version - sorry rufus13th) which is awesome, but is it worth me buying the anime too? I've never heard of it being known as a good anime at all...
  15. I can't remember ever having a nightmare in my whole life. I think I might have had one about storybook glen when i was really young, which I can't actually remember, but at least not in the last 15 years anyway. I don't really have bad dreams either...just weird. What does that mean? That i'm nice maybe?...
  16. I'm sure if you put on an advertised soul night, and played soul-influenced music, mixed with other styles, noone would complain. If anything, it's appreciated for adding a diversity to the music, and not confining it to too strict sounds (obviously not taking this over the top though). Yeah, if you advertised 'northern soul' then it has to be in that category, but doesn't ska include ska-punk? To me ska is a pretty wide genre. If someone told me they were into ska music, needless of what i believe ska to be, i'll generally assume they just mean less than jake, reel big fish etc. I think that maybe the general idea of ska has changed a lot to what it used to be (or you believe), even though it's technically wrong. I could be wrong on this, but it's what i seem to think. I do understand what you mean though, it just seems to me it's a bit picky. As for the day, really enjoyed all the bands. Upstarts great as always. One man race were actually really good, and i'll definately try and see them next time they are in aberdeen. Dissapointed with Misled Youth, good to see but didn't really think they were anything special. Sonic Boom 6 were fuckin' ace, loved the hip-hop in it. Bought their album too. Singer's so damn hot Thanks kirk for putting on an ace day I'll be lookin' forward to the next one
  17. It's not so much guy to guy that's a problem, just really paedo guys to young girls. You just have to decide if it's worth the really small chance that shit is gonna come out of it. If i was a young girl then it's probably not, but if i was meeting a guy i'd spoken to for ages, then it's more likely that i'm not too fussed. As for all the rules to follow on GMTV or whatever...it's all common sense. You've gotta be a dumbass to not follow half of them anyway.
  18. I'd maybe try Ninja Scroll. It not really like the 3 you mentioned, but you'd probably like it. Lots of cool ninja fight scenes. The story can seem kinda cliched in a sense (kill the 8 demons) but it's really not. Also pretty graphic scenes at times.
  19. Well i havn't actually read all of them, just the first 3, but these are basically the whole of the anime. The other 3 I don't think are part of the film. If i had the money I definately would get them, but you're right, they are damn expensive. But yeah, the mangas are the best books I have ever read. You get totally caught up in the story and can't put it down. I'd read one of the books in a couple of days (makes you think if it's worth it...). It is basically the same story, with more detail. A lot of added parts, some scenes are the other way around, and some have the same idea but different settings. If i were you, and you enjoyed the anime, I'd definately go out of my way to get them (never tryed the library, good idea though!). I certainly enjoyed it more than the film, and it also adds background to the plot and characters not seen in the film. Oh yeah, try not to get them in Forbidden Planet. They are 22.99 there (fucking hell). I got them off the internet from either play or amazon(or both) where it was like 13-16 quid for each. Can't remember, but i'm sure i saw them somewhere for even better... Oh yeah, I heard fist of the north star was shite. Is it actually good/worth a watch?
  20. Most favs are: Princess Mononoke My neighbour totoro akira (appreciated it even more after reading mangas) Other favs: Perfect Blue Spirited away Jin-Roh wolf brigade Grave of the Fireflies Ninja Scroll Tokyo Godfathers Ghost in the shell (didn't like it so much the first time, but grew on me after a couple watches) And I'd totally recommend all of these. I'll give a mini review of any if you're interested.
  21. For those of you who are wondering what the site was like back a few years, click here Not all the links work, and I don't think any actually go into any topics, but still a cool insight into how it's changed over the past years.
  22. The first pressing of the DVD of Howl's moving castle came with an actual frame from the film used in theatres. Totally unique. Havn't checked, so i dunno if there's still available, where i saw it was www.play-asia.com. 90 dollars is too much for me though... It's still on pre-order till Nov 19th, so maybe there still is.
  23. I generally only ever watch in subs. If it's a live action, dubs are just a joke, they don't fit and look stupid. It totally brings it's credibility down. For anime, that applies too, but just not as bad, it can sometimes be really good. But then it always feels better hearing it in japanese, how it is intended. It's kinda part of the anime of it. Don't think i've put that across very well, but you get the idea. In a sense, i like to keep the film to how it originally is. If it's a brazilian film, i want it to feel brazilian. I have no problem in reading subs in the slightest, so it doesn't bother me at all.
