  1. There's a song by Reef, one of the last one's on Rides where Gary stringer wails for about 22 seconds... it's an immense ending to an otherwise meh song Also, the scream by Black Francis on Nimrod's Song by Pixies is great Eddie Vedder on W.M.A is a quality scream....more of a well-held long croaky note, but class nonetheless
  2. absolutely gutted about this - I took today and tomorrow off work to properly enjoy this gig - been buzzing all weekend looking forward to it Been listening to all three albums Went onto myspace to listen to ASIWYFA this afternoon, been listening to them a fair bit lately - awesome - and saw the CANCELLED bit on their page. Crestfallen
  3. I'm buzzing about this gig It'll be brilliant to see more than three oceansize songs this time... bloody moshulu numpties  Hearing great things about the support acts too... cant access myspace at work, but I'm gonna check them out after hometime in the comfort of my own home
  4. I'm going to this gig tonight - should be immense! last time I saw them in moshulu, about two Christmas's ago they were superb - played loads of 100 broken windows and Captain still no word on the support?
  5. Hello, I'm 25 and I'm bored and looking to get involved in a band again. I play guitar to a pretty decent level - I play a fender telecaster and have a marshall guvnor distortion and boss delay pedals, looking to get some tremolo/reverb pedal too.... I have this band sound in my head I'd like to try and realise....have songs - but not recorded... I used to play the gig scene regularly for about 3 years as a bass player in a rockabilly band and I rate my bass playing as better than average... I know what the notes are, rather than just fret numbers So ideally I would like to join/start a band where i can perhaps do both.... not at the same time obviously :o) I also have my new flatmate who is into the same music as me and a decent guitar player with good ideas, who's keen to get a band going... BANDS I LIKE: The Twilight Sad Pixies Mogwai Oceansize Sonic Youth The Hold Steady Radiohead Pavement Death Cab Portishead Nick Cave Television The Smiths Grandaddy Nine Inch Nails Trail of Dead... etc looking to either recruit members or join an existing project if you think I fit the bill... I also like beer. PM if interested :o) thanks
  6. I'll be there, coz u guys are ACE!! 5 is a bit pricy though eh? Especially for sumone on a bohemians budget!! Throw in a curly wurly and we'll call it a deal. (God, I'm bored!)
  7. Bass player required for new band. Got songs already, just need competent bass lines to complete the sound. Soundin very good so far. Should be gigging by the end of the summer. Kinda do the cool guitar riff that repeats to changing bass line thing. Bands we like: Pixies, The Cure, At the drive in, The Cribs, Death Cab for Cutie, MBV, Sons and daughters, Pavement, Trail of Dead, We are Scientists, Eels, Television, The Strokes, Sebadoh, Slint, TV on the Radio, early REM. Idlewild. The Shins. Young Knives. Slowdive. Mogwai. Interested? Then PM me and we'll sort out an audition. Not an opportunity to miss! Cheers. headradio
  8. We are a three piece (guitar, bass and drums) who need a singer to complete the lineup. We have songs already going and more in the pipeline, just needed a good singer to add the vocals to them. Sounded pretty damn good so far. Ability to play keyboards or guitar would be an advantage (i can play keys) Influences: Sons & daughters, Pavement, The Cribs, Modest Mouse, The Long Blondes, Pixies, The Cure, Slint, TV on the Radio, Mogwai, Explosions in the Sky, Biffy Clyro, Longwave, My Bloody Valentine, Super Furry Animals, The Shins, We are Scientists....to name a few. Age: ideally 18-26, male or female. If your interested or would like to know more, then feel free to send me a PM and I'll help as best I can. 8-)
  9. Hi. We are a three piece looking to recruit another guitarist and a vocalist to complete our line-up. So far I think we're sounding good, lots of potential here. We play original material, my songs with loads to follow. Plan to start gigging in the next few months. It's difficult to pigeon-hole the type of sound Im going for but I take influence from bands such as: Arcade Fire, Bloc Party, Pixies, Sons and Daughters, Biffy Clyro, The Cure, early REM, We are Scientists, The Cribs, The Long Blondes, Trail of Dead, My Bloody Valentine, Sonic Youth, Arctic Monkeys. Guitarist: The kind of guitarist Im looking for doesnt just strum along chords, but that actually contributes to the songs, with licks and counterriffs.... like Jose Santiago (Pixies) or Russell from Bloc Party... if you also have your own creative ideas/songs; so much the better. Vocalist: a confident individual, someone who can sing and is good a finding melodies. I dont care if your male or female. Ideally though you should be around the same age as the rest of the band, so 18-27. oh, and no metalheads. just no!! Sorry to sound a bit totaliterian or whatever, we're nice people really, just want only the right people to apply. If you think you might fit the bill, then PM me! or you can email me on headradio8041@yahoo.co.uk Thanks. Gary
  10. Hi. We need a new drummer. We play indie with a bit of funk thrown in. Sound like Sons and Daughters, Pixies, Modest Mouse, Rage against the Machine, Pavement, Smashing Pumpkins, PJ Harvey, We are Scientists, Beck, Trail of Dead, Arctic Monkeys, Young Knives.... Basically I have loads of catchy riffs and chord sequences. Just need a good drummer who can play a range of drum styles to complete our line up. Than we can get gigging!! We are all around 22 years old. If your interested, then feel free to PM me. Gary
