  1. Its a smilie of course its meant to be nice?!?! Your comment however could have been alot clearer. If you've got no problem with us and you simply dont want to listen to us fair enough but the comment could easily have been misunderstood. Fair enough? To be honest I just wanted to reply without actually having to seem like we're offended or we're going to start a huge argument blah blah blah etc. I'm writing back on myself now though because I cant explain what I want to without a big post but its the last one I promise! Another member of the band has been previously replying to any comments made and I really just wanted to say how much I thought this message board has changed. I've been on and off here in different guises (different bands) since I was about 16 and I have to say the amount of in fighting and bitching that goes on here (now) is actually quite sad (by the way bluesxman this isnt aimed directly at you it just so happened you sparked me off this morning). I can honestly remember never reading derogatory comments made about bands as you can flick through and see now and to be honest it makes me not want to take part in the board at all. I met a heap of folk through the AUBL (between about 99 to 2004) who I would gladly talk to now but some of the people on here just make themselves look like stirrers not folks who want to be involved in the music scene. The people I met were in different style bands and folk I wouldnt usually meet so it was cool for me. Because of that I thought you could go about promoting your band as you wanted without fear of having someone trying to put a downer on what you want to do. Who cares if a band tries to hype themselves up? If they're serious about fulfilling a dream surely they have the right to do it how they want? Bluesxman as for your comment about the Lemon Tree are you saying its not one of the biggest venues in ABerdeen? Be realisitc. How the fuck does an unsigned band from Aberdeen get a gig at the AECC (which we have played by the way) or the Music hall. As far as I can tell its through hard graft or luck but why did you feel the need to make the point that we hadnt??? A few years ago I dont think the point would have been made. It just seems like everyone wants to be right or have the last word. I dont plan on replying to any other posts so someone else can fight for it. You can have a chocolate badge. Anyway Im looking forward to reading any replies off the back of this especially if anyones in agreement. I personally think the message board is a lot less welcoming than it used to be but that its a result of the people who use it not the AUBLs fault. As for the comment about spelling on the website wise the fuck up everyone makes mistakes.
  2. Well done to all the bands who got through! Should be a cracking next round with so many bands from Aberdeen making it through. If anyone is interested we are playing the Mad Hatters in Inverness tonight. Cheers
  3. I have absoloutley no idea what is going on?!? I thought we were first on at 8.30. 7 Stone Unders poster said doors at 8? Nobody tells me nowt. Bass player grumble over...
  4. 8 at the door!?!?! Good thing we sold all ours then!
  5. Too High One Way In Jag Tune Human I thought they were amazin. Much better than last time I saw them. Bleed From Within I think (personally) is a shite single but it was amazin live.
  6. Cheers. Was wierd playing there after selling it out but still good fun.
  7. It was a really good gig in the end. Eric Euan were good never seen them before. Especially the 1st and 2nd songs. El Presidente were brilliant. Very kind of disco/pop thing going on. And I may be in love with their keyboard player. Or at least freakishly infatuated.
  8. We will be supporting them on the night. Not heard any stuff yet but I hear very good things.
  9. Spot on. We're playing at Fury Murrays in Glasgow tonight so it best efforts to stay sober and stay in good shape for tomorrow. If we walk in all looking like shit then offer us a pint as we will need it to clear heads. Cheers
  10. Tomorrow night the 5th. First band at 9.45
  11. Ha ha no way I just noticed! They're GNS and we're GSN. Coinkydink? I think not! But seriously Grim Northern are amazing live and everyone should get down to see them. One of the best front men in Scotland without a doubt!
  12. Fury Murrays on Friday night The band will be playing at Fury Murray's on Friday night as part of four band line up. We will be onstage about 9 o'clock so all you guys in Glasgow need to head down as it will be quality. This is our first gig in Glasgow since our runners up position in the scottish battle of the bands competition at the end of last year. Don't know who else is playing, it doesn't really matter get down and see Girl Said No. Extra Aberdeen Gig Due to the fact that the lemon tree sold out so quickly heaps of folk have been trying to get tickets...it's not going to happen it really is totally sold out! To ease the pain we have decided to add an extra gig to Aberdeen to make sure you guys that couldn't get tickets dont miss out, we tried for the lemon tree but there was no suitable dates. Fortunately the guys from the Grim Northern Social gave us a shout and asked if we wanted to play with them at Cafe Drummonds on Saturday night so thats where we will be. This is the first time we have played the with the Grim Northern Social since the lemon tree last year, they are class so it will be a legend night. It's Saturday night at Cafe Drummonds, Belmont Street - get down early as it will be mobbed. The website Our website has been inundates with hits and people signing up to these GSN newsletters so cheers to everyone who has checked it out. 13. I think that this album is the same as De-Loused. The first time your hear it your looking for it to be cool all the way through but I think you have to give it a listen 4 or 5 times and eventually you start to tune out all the fiddly pointless bits and see just how brilliant they are. I love it just as much as De-Loused if not more. Q gave it 5 stars which is very rare from them from what I remember.
  14. Did Carl play in Phonefreak? I never knew that. Carl is still working in Key West at Westhill as a chef I think. There bass player Gordon also moved to Star, then went to Texas for a year, came back, rejoined Star and now they've split up so I hear. Think he's still working for an engineering company in Dyce. I still have the demo somewhere too. "Electric Whiteboy Blues" was totally amazing as I recall. The album cover was 2 bits of card stuck together because the printers messed up the size or something (I always remember that). Brilliant band....
  15. Nope. It was something that rhymed or was really clever I'm sure.....
  16. Hiya, Can anyone remember the name of the covers band around Aberdeen that used to dress like transvestites? Its driving me nuts and I need to know. Answeres on a postcard. Cheers Ewan
  17. Girl Said No appeared in yesterdays Daily Star. There was a shot of Andrea and also of the band along with some general information. Tickets for the Lemon Tree are now down to the last 40. 18. GIRL SAID NO @ THE LEMON TREE FRIDAY 1st APRIL Tickets for the lemon tree gig went on sale last friday and already over 400 have already been sold, making it one of the fastest selling gigs ever for a local band at the Lemon Tree ever. If you haven't got a ticket yet you need to get one now! QUESTIONS ANSWERED What is the full line up? Girl said No, Redd Up, The Front and Smiling Politely with DJ Gomez on the decks. How do you get a ticket? Call the lemon tree box office on 01224 642230. Get a hold of one of the band members as each band has a limited number of tickets. Email us here and we will sort you out. Will I be able to pay at the door on the night? Due to the high ticket sales it is very unlikely that there will be any tickets left by the end of next week so dont wait. Why are the tickets selling so fast? Easy, its Girl Said No along with three of the best up and coming bands in the North East.... if Carlsberg put on gigs at the lemon tree this would be the line up! We will also be arranging a big aftershow party at a yet to disclosed location for everyone who buys a ticket as well as arranging a few giveaways on the night. OTHER NEWS Due to Girl Said No's growing reputation throughout Scotland they were aproached by the Daily Star to do a feature on the band. The interview and photo shoot was done last week and is due in the National paper this week, we will keep you posted of what day it will be in.
