  1. Where to begin.... ...the ones I saw, the ones I wish I'd seen... The Wannadies (twice - my favourite being the one where Per starts singing softly only to be drowned out by the chattering of the bar crowd. He comes to the end of his bit, says 'Talk all you want' and the band crash in to completely drown out the chatterers whose heads explode while the rest of us dance. Well, maybe not the exploding head bit.) The Kills, The Delgados (on their last ever tour), KT Tunstall, Soulwax, Astrid Williamson, Thea Gilmore, Erin McKeown, The Divine Comedy, Roddy Frame, Kathryn Williams, Bic Runga, Beth Orton, The Webb Brothers. And the last one I saw, and the least populated, the excellent Mark Eitzel. The one LT gig I've been to where it wasn't deluged by bar chatterers. I would've liked to have seen many more but due to illness and my not actually living in the city I could not, and now I never will. sighs
  2. Ooh. I was close. One different protagonist and not so many promoters. But close. Still as annoying, but slightly different. ETA: Ah. Emma writes on her own website. Copy and paste. A thousand apologies to all who turned up for the Aberdeen show on Saturday 12th May. We drove up there only to find that the venue had no idea there was a gig on even though One Up Records had been selling tickets 2 doors down! No idea what lies behind the whole thing but needless to say we were extremely dissapointed and not a little bit annoyed and had to go find something else to do. Im waiting to hear if the gig may be rescheduled or not and will post another blog as soon as I know. Sorry again hope to get up to Aberdeen another time soon. Emma Pollock
  3. Cancelled. According to the note on the door (and I may be paraphrasing slightly) due to "astounding lack of communication between musician and promoters... EP". Or words to that effect.
  4. Tis true I'm afraid. The press release can be found here: chemikal underground news page Alas. I'm glad I finally managed to see them at The Lemon Tree in February. Good luck guys.
  5. I had a great time. Motormark sound very different without the full-on electricness. The songs stood out a bit more I think. And of course there was Piney! And the duet was marvellous. Thanks for a great night folks.
  6. I went by myself. Had a blast. T'was a splendid gig. KT and her band were brilliant and the support (Calvin) were pretty good too! I went home with 'Other Side of the World' echoing around my brain.
  7. Support from... The support is a band called Calvin who, according to their website, play 'alternative pop'.
  8. ooh! Snafu eh? I've never been there either. I'll be there on March 2nd though! I am getting about this year...
  9. Sold out? According to the ad in the back of this week's NME the whole tour is sold out (with other dates around the country now added for May).
  10. My ticket says Monday. Plus on Tuesday she's playing King Tut's.
  11. me I shall be there. I have tickety goodness. (This February sees me going to more gigs than I usually manage to attend in a year!)
  12. fun! Just got back from the gig. Much fun was had! The 4bit Crew (man in Tarzan costume with beats apparently composed on a gameboy! ), Piney Gir (magnificent! and, by the way, grrr! Great musician & technician too!) ) and Motormark (art-punk noise terrorism! I think my brain melted). Plus wonderful music (a DJ who plays The Postal Service. hurrah!) and the most eclectic-looking crowd I think I've ever seen! Wny did I only discover this place now?!?! Darn.
  13. Hello. I'm completely and utterly new here. Joined up yesterday while finding out about the Piney Gir gig. Read the forums and was looking forward to my first visit to Dr Drakes on Friday (today now) only to find out it's closing! Obviously I don't know myself (cause I've never been) but if your posts here are anything to go by then I've been missing out all this time. I kinda feel like I shouldn't turn up tomorrow a) because it'll probably be full! and b) because it sounds like I should leave the last few nights for the people who have actually been going all this time. I hope the last nights are fantastic and you all enjoy them, even with that bittersweet taste of something great that's ending.
