  7. Beat Generator Presents Another Classic: Sunday April 16th 2006 Viewfield Hotel Arbroath Advance Tickets On Sale Now!! Raging Speedhorn: Raging Speedhorn were formed in August 1998 in the grim English town of Corby. They came together from two rival local bands; Box (John Loughlin, Gordon Morrison and Tony Loughlin) and Soulceller (Frank Regan, Gareth Smith and Darren Smith) This motley crew of freaks, geeks and misfits put aside their rivalries, put down their knives and decided that the world needed a kick in the balls. Britain didn't know what hit it. Just three months after they formed, Speedhorn record their first demo with producer Roddy Stone. Featuring four dense slabs of bilious noise, it delivered a brutal uppercut to all those cynics who said that America was king when it came to aggressive music. The buzz on the grape vine was deafening. The demo sold more than 1000 copies to fans that wanted more than the latest bunch of sad-sacks with their saggy trousers and saggier sounds. Throughout 1999 and 2000, the Speedhorn phenomenon began to grow at a frightening rate. They played with and blew off stage: Will Haven, Biohazard, Ministry and even Blur guitarist Graham Coxon. Venues were laid to waste- sometimes literally- and fans flocked to the Speedhorn cause. In August 2000, Raging Speedhorn released their self-titled debut album. It delivered a full-force gut punch to the competition. Suddenly, their riotous brand of extreme noise terrorism was the sound of the streets. Everybody wanted a piece of them. Articles appeared in such respected magazines as Kerrang!, The NME, Metal Hammer and Q. Raging Speedhorn had arrived. The next 12 months saw Raging Speedhorn stake out their position as the finest metal band the UK had produced in a generation. They travelled the world, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake. Whenever they came to town, hatches were battened down, police stations were put on red alert and bar owners shuttered up their windows. All the while, Raging Speedhorn's stature was growing at an amazing rate. In June 2001, they opened the second UK Ozzfest with a performance of mind-blowing proportions. The same month, their very first commercially available single ‘The Gush’ pummelled its way into the UK top 50 – A spectacular feat considering the terror it in inspired in radio and TV programmers. But there was trouble ahead. Music industry politics –the death-knell for so many bands- sidelined Raging Speedhorn for almost a year. The anger and frustration of this period spilled out on their electrifying second album ‘We Will Be Dead Tomorrow’. This wasn’t rock ‘n’ roll. This was genocide. The next 18 months rushed by in a blur of noise and blood. There were uproarious tours with Biohazard and Amen. There were lost nights and barely-recalled days. They lost one guitarist (Founder-member Tony Loughlin) and gained another member (Jay Thompson). They moved to London, Cardiff and Stockholm. But all the time, there was something burning inside them- Raging Speedhorn. Which brings us to the latest chapter in the Raging Speedhorn story. This year will see the release of their awe-inspiring third album, ‘How The Great Have Fallen’. Produced by Queens Of The Stone Age associate Joe Baresi. This is the sound of angry men making violent music for unhinged people. Raging Speedhorn have already redefined the face of metal. With ‘How The Great Have Fallen, they’ve done it again. Are you with them? Soundshok: Formed on December 2001, Since then Soundshok have played well over 70 gigs playing all over scotland venturing even as far as england and europe. Watch this space!!! 8. BEAT GENERATOR PRESENTS: SCURGE: Formed in 1999 as a backlash to the industrial wastelands of their hometown of Kettering , Northants. in the midlands of the UK. Originally a 4 piece, they amazed local audiences with their unique brand of groove-laden alcohol-fuelled rock 'n' roll, inciting comparisons to many hardcore and sludge bands of the time, they went on to tour extensively with the likes of Raging Speedhorn and Defenestration, which led to further national tours with bands such as Napalm Death, Kittie, Stamping Ground, Underule, Freebase, Dukes of Nothing, The Wildhearts, Viking Skull etc. By this time they were being recognised by the national press and had secured reviews in major publications such as Kerrang!, Rock Sound and Metal Hammer. At the end of 2001 they recorded the now infamous 'Devil in Miss Jones' for the Kerrang covermount cd, 'Incoming Sounds of 2002' and were also featured on a Rock Sound cover cd with a rendition of 'Glasseye'. 2002 also saw them recording for their first release, a split ep with Defenestration featuring two tracks from each band, called 'Year of the Slug'. This was produced by Simon Efemy (Napalm Death, Pantera, ) and Russ Russell (The Junket) and released on Snapper Records to rave reviews . Touring followed by a spell holed up in the studio writing and recording was interrupted when , in 2003, they recruited a new member, Jez (ex-Charger) on second guitar. This gave the band a new depth and live presence, and they set to work writing new material. They recorded a mini album of 8 tracks, (of which the masters were later lost!) before signing a deal with a new independent label, 'Jaunty Records'. They went on to record their latest release, 'Cat with the 45 Calibre Claw' at Framework Studios in Birmingham, produced by Bag (Napalm Death, Cathedral, Charger). Recent developments last year include touring, with dates throughout the Uk, Malta and Ireland, and airplay on Radio 1 Rock Show. Also, toward the end of 2004, Jez left the band to be replaced by Dave's brother Jay Thompson (ex-Defenestration) who currently also plays guitar for Raging Speedhorn. Scurge are currently putting the finishing touches to a new mini album, due for release later this year, and are preparing to tour the new songs. check out the website for more info SOUNDSHOK: Formed on December 2001 in Arbroath, Since then 4 piece thrash/hardcore band Soundshok have played well over 70 gigs playing all over scotland venturing even as far as england and europe. Influenced by the likes of Sepultura, Hatebreed, Slayer, Decapitated, Throwdown and Lamb Of God The band have recorded 3 demo eps including a live album and have built up quite an impressive fanbase due to the intensity of live performances, finally finding there sound and true abilties the band are currently putting the finishing touches to their new ep "Devoured" their 1st release of 2006 which we regard our heaviest most brutal work to date. Watch this space!!! LIFEBLIND: Formed in 2001 and drawing influence from bands that they had listened to growing up, LifeBlind quickly found a sound that they were comfortable with. Mixing soaring melodies with vocal aggression and adding their own ingredients, LifeBlind took to the stage like a band that has been touring for a decade. The band’s live shows are filled with so much passion in their performance, that you can’t help but feel involved. With an incredibly intense stage presence that reflects their music, they are definitely a must see live band. Support slots for Static-X, Hondo Maclean, Silverstein and the honour of playing on the Eastpak Vans Tour allowed LifeBlind to expose their music to a wider audience. “Passionate and uncompromisingly brutal” David Cook, Black Velvet Magazine.. LifeBlind’s mission is to stay true to themselves and inject the creativity that is within each of the members into the songs, creating the immensely powerful sound that they possess. LifeBlind look towards the future and trying to increase their fan base in every town they play with their contagious music. www.scurge.co.uk www.myspace.com/scurgewhores www.soundshok.tk www.myspace.com/soundshok1 www.lifeblind.co.uk www.myspace.com/lifeblind
