  1. This is slightly related to a pet hate of mine; Turning up to someone's house and within the same sentence as "Hi, how are you" getting "could you have a look at my ipad/phone/computer/laptop/internet, it's not working". Normally its due to all genuine updates being ignored but instead installing every search toolbar available and letting every spam advert site setting itself as your homepage...
  2. Interesting, thanks! Your description of "wooly" sums up what I would be worried about, I guess the pickup placement helps avoid that. I was imagining it sounding like tho SG basses with the huge pickup right at the bottom of the neck.
  3. That does look smart, how is it to play? I imagine it could be quite "wooly" sounding, possibly better described as a more "vintage" bass tone.
  4. Could have gotten messy, there was a lot of money on the table and some pretty hot goods. It's not often you get a chance to get your hands on a rabbit hutch for thirty pounds.
  5. I just don't get the logic, he had 2 choices; send a wee text "it's sold" or get in the car and leave the house for a few hours, switch off the phone and hope that I'm not there when he gets back.
  6. Jumping on the "getting fucked about with online sales" bandwagon, I got hit with a classic at the weekend. I turned up on Saturday to collect an item I'd found on Gumtree, I'd texted the seller 30mins previous saying I was on my way as they stated "anytime this afternoon is fine" an hour earlier. When I found the address no one was in and seller's phone went straight to voice mail. I checked with some locals and found out that the item I was buying was collected earlier that day and the seller had gone out about 30mins ago...... what a bellend!
  7. Depending on the source of the hum a noise gate may not be effective. If the hum is introduced post noise gate you'll still have the same problem. Could be something as simple as interference from lights, fluorescent type lamps will often cause a buzz. Try turning off all the other electrical items in the room and see if anything has an effect. Bonus points if you wear a tin foil hat at the same time....
  8. Some decent kitchen foil will do the same. Cover the inside of the scratch plate and earth the shield. Check your strings have a good earth connection also.
  9. Hi, do you still have the looper for sale?

  11. Hi, not looking for best quality, something that is usable but not too throw away. Ideally they would b identical. Might have sorted with a supplier. Thanks
  12. I'm looking for approx 35 descant recorders, anyone able to help? Maybe you've recently robbed a primary school or been really drunk on ebay, if so and you have 35 or so Recorders to clear let me know, cash waiting. Thanks
  13. Pet hate: It's been said many times before but Aberdeen's unpredictable traffic nightmares. Today while travelling out of town I go stuck in traffic with 4 brand new snow plows, 3 truck loads of wind turbine parts, another 2 trucks of wind turbine parts with police closing down a roundabout for them and 1 JCB digger on a single carriage way section of road..... I give myself 20mins spare over the normal commute time to make it home to collect my kid from school, today I was just on time! Average speed for the commute works out at 23mph on mostly dual carriage way roads. Ridiculous! angryface
  14. Are you actually coming for these? I waited in all day but u didn't show.
  15. still up for grabs, will be going to charity shop if no one collects them. Collection is from Insch in Aberdoomshire.
  16. 2 absolute must haves in your journey to achieving the ultomato GUITAR TONE. A Squire SP-10 Practice amp, working ok, pots are a little scratchy but sounds as "great" as these baby's did when they left the factory. Looks pretty clean also. Been unused since forever, not sure of the age. Also a Marshall Micro amp MS-2 as below: Pure treble tastic transistor tone, with shedloads of nasty fuzz. First to collect can have them for nothing. PM for directions.
  17. Hi, I'd be interested in a Reel to reel if there is one still available?
  18. I always though the Les Paul basses with smaller bodies looked really weird, like a guitar with a bass neck glued on. In fender context would be like a regular Tele guitar with a P-bass neck bolted on. I think in my head I always figured they would have bigger bodies, hence Gibson increasing the body size, cos I telt them.
  19. I think a humidifier might be useful if you live in California and are keeping a collection of old guitars. You can keep the humitidy at a level to prevent the wood in your guitars from drying out to such an extent that splits a cracks form. Here in the North East of Scotland you can achieve the same effect by opening a window. Most North East homes would be more likely to suffer from excess humidity due to our damp climate and poor venting.
  20. Is guitar not different to other instruments as well when it comes to notes and placement on the score? For example the middle C on a piece written for piano would have the note in the middle of the score where as for guitar the same middle C would be written in the line above.
