  1. Me I would be willing to give it a go. What form do you have your tracks on?
  2. There would be no extra work for the sound guy. I do my level checks at the same time as the sound guy. As i said the the mix of the levels dont have to be spot on as long as i get a good recording signal for each signal. 80 to 90% of the mix is done after the recording. If the sound guy turns down guitar foh then i can turn them back up later. I can fix errors overdub add fx, comp, gates, maximizers, eq just about anything you like. This would cost a bit more. Whats the going rate for mastering in Aberdeen? Flash would £30 be for a quick recording without any final mix and master? Flash where can i hear some demos of your recordings?
  3. Had a listen to the tracks on your space. Where were these recorded? Have you got the tracks recorded seperate on cd?
  4. How many members are in the band and what do they play or sing? Would it be The tunnels gig you want recorded? When is it? How long is your set? I will see what i can do for you. Dazza.
  5. Line out If i can get a desk with line out pre or post fade then thats all i need. Then i can record 18 tracks. This is a recording of my band using my pc. The pc has 3 soundcards. The built in one, creative and line port. This gave me 5 mono line ins. I also had a mini disc recording 2 mono lines. The keyboard is midi using the grand 2 vst. So altogether I had 7 tracks and the keyboard midi. The mini disc recording was added to the pc recording later. To get all the cards to work together i use asio4all drivers. The band desk has 8 line outs. These can be pre or post. But since im not trying to get the sound right straight away then as long as the signal is right in the recording level it should be ok for mix and master at a later stage. Here is the results i got http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/dazza1040/Mp3/7%20you%20really%20got%20me.mp3 Lets say my desk has 18 ins and 18 out then the band could go through my desk and the line outs to the main desk. By the way ian its darren.
  6. Not great! That sound is just not great at all. Unless you record everything onto seperate tracks or are mixing the desk for recording then you wont get a good recording. Doing it this way lets you mix and master it better afterwards.
  7. Do you guys think there is a market for live recording during a gig. I ask this as some people are talking about live recordings from the desk to mini disc. Well the songs i have heard are not that great as these are only mixed for front of house. My point is i have been doing some live recording of my band on my pc. After which i mix and master later. The results are pretty good. Here is some examples: http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/dazza1040/Mp3/9%20my%20sharona.mp3 http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/dazza1040/Mp3/2%20mustang%20sally.mp3 I record each instrument to its own track so more editing can be done. Its like a portable studio that can go and record the band rather than band going to the studio. Email me for more info.
  8. Have seen the band once was well impressed. Just had a look at your website and everything is looking well proffessional. The only bad comment would be the audio demos on your site. They dont sound that good. All that gear too. If you still need help i may be available. Just email me.
  9. Guitarist wanted for cover band. Gigs booked for the whole year. No time wasters please. To get more info about the band see the website or mail me. http://www.theusualsuspects.co.uk/
  10. Will you take £150 i have the money waiting.
  11. Here is the recording of Traffic. http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/dazza1040/Mp3/1_eq.mp3
  12. I have a track that was made up using cars on a dual carrigway. What i did was to stand at the side of the road and record a video of the traffic. Then i had to choose some notes depending on the coulor of the cars. For example a red car would be the note (A) blue car (Csharp) and so on. I then tapped in on a keyboard every time a car on the first lane past a certian point. This was done for all 4 lanes of traffic giving me the rythm. I then had to adjust the notes to the colours of the cars. I gave the lanes of traffic a instrument that was like bells and things. The last thing i did was to speed up the tempo. Just thought i would share my experince with you lot. It came out sounding pretty good. I will try and post it so you can have a listen. If i wanted i could paint a pic of the road using the music.
  13. when you say 10 inputs how is this achieved. I can only see 2 on that card unless you include midi and other inputs on the card. But i think you still need other equipment to record these in real time live all at once onto there own tracks.
  14. Ok i could go and spend money on a new card but i was just making use of what i had. They are running at 16 bit at 44khz, This is fine by me as im not trying to build a recording studio. Just something i can have fun with although i will be recording my band soon.
  15. I would use all the waves plug ins. This is an example of a song recorded and masterd using waves. The more you get into this though the more you need to know. Have a look at this http://namm.harmony-central.com/WNAMM04/Content/Waves/PR/Prod-Mixing-Mastering.html This is available to download at http://www.audionews.ru/signup.php This gives you whole songs recorded and mixed. Just open a song into sonar 5, cubase or pro logic. Everything opens up in different tracks as if you recorded the whole band. All the settings are in place for the master mix using waves plugins. You can learn by them and remaster the song trying out different plugins. Or you can use the setting to save as template and add your own recordings. This would put in place the waves plug ins so that you just have to play about with them to master your own songs.
  16. What site is best for music ? :guns: :guns:
  17. Hog what spec is your pc? Have you looked at the lineport ux2. For recording guitar this is knees bees. Of course it depends if you want to record more than one istrument at a time. I have 3 soundcards, built in one on motherboard, c-media and lineport. I use them all at the same time using Sonar giving me 6 mono line ins or 3 stereo. Any keyboards can be done using midi. Live recording set up. Track 1 Keyboard midi Track 2 drums 1st soundcard left Track 3 drums 1st soundcard right Track 4 guitar 1, 2nd soundcard left Track 5 guitar 2, 2nd soundcard right Track 6 vocals lineport soundcard left Track 7 bass lineport soundcard right This all depends on what line up you have and can be overdubbed such as backing vocals. Hope this helps.
  18. Plenty here. http://pianosheets.org/browse.php?page=23 All free too.
  19. I would give Sonar 5 a look. Also for latencey problems look no further than asio4all. I have 3 soundcards, asio4all lets me select them all for recording givivng me 6 mono line ins at the same time.
  20. Asio4all did the trick for me. I have now got 6 x mono line ins or 3 x stereo line ins. This was done using asio4all driver and 3 different sound cards. All soundcards are made into 16bit using the asio4all program. Asio4all also lets me get the latencey for midi using vst programs such as bfd and the grand 2 down to real time playing. So now i can record my roland dt6 electric drum kit through midi using bfd as the sounds in real time. All done using Sonar 5. Just in case you want to know it also gives me 14 x mono lines out or 7 x stereo lines out. Spec P4 3ghz , 1 gb ram , 200g hard drive and 80g hard drive. Running Windows xplite
