  1. image conscious = bullshit just my opinion of course..isn't that where the idea of 'poser' came from..ie, they're just a bunch of 'poser's' and not the real thing... it's about the music, first, last, and always. anyway, for more fun, check out this link to a collection of seriously image conscious people :O http://ruthlessreviews.com/top10/10blackmetal.html b. www.billthompson.org
  2. check out the 'boomerang'...i used that and found it very useful before i moved here...there's also a looper made by either korg or roland (almost the same right) that has 5 minutes of non-destructible memory...that was my next purchase but i've moved away from looping after so many years of it (sorta went the opposite direction and just started adding more and more different devices instead...it's a disease.) if dave stokes is on this list he uses a very simaler (jesus christ i can't spell at the moment!) set up to what you've described...dave are you there???
  3. thanx! i just sent this link to my friends in austin...

  5. i'm copying this reply and sending to my friends back home...they'll be laughing !
  6. thanx everyone hi all, thanx for all of your replies both here and private emails...your suggestions have been great and i'm hoping i can get something going soon. and as far as charlambrides, i played several shows on the same bill with tom carter (the guitarist) and we knew each other. austin's a pretty small world so it's hard to not know people or play shows with people in slightly different musical circles if you play any thing that could be considered experimental or creative. tom, christina, and heather leah murray have obviously disbanded, but they were coming out of the psychrock side of experimental music, where i fell into it from the compositional angle. heather's actually moved here (somewhere in scotland) and gotten married...so i'm sure she's doing something somewhere. anyway, thanx again for your suggestions..i'll let you all know if i'm doing anything anywhere b. www.billthompson.org
  7. hi everyone, i've just moved to aberdeen from austin texas to work on a phd in composition at the university of aberdeen. i write/perform experimental music, mostly electronic (beatless), really hard to describe. most of my music is influenced by modern 'avant garde' music such as cage, brown, feldman, wolff, behrman, lucier, nakamura, amm etc... anyway, i'd really appreciate any pointers on venues or certain nights where more experimental music may be performed in aberdeen...i know it might not be exactly what i do, but anything that sounds like it might be close will do to start... also, if anyone would be interested in collaborating on something that would be great too...i'm looking to start an improvisation workshop focussing on methods/ideas of pauline oliveros, eddie prevost, toshi nakamura, keith rowe, christian wolff etc...if you'd be interested in being involved, please feel free to email me at billthompson@billthompson.org glad there's a forum like this here! thanx, b. www.billthompson.org
