  1. it's totally different feeling from electric basses; it feels totally alien. Which makes it very hard to judge how good/bad a double bass is -- you don't have the frame of reference. oh, and i did look in cash converters -- no double bass, but they did have one a few months back. cheers
  2. probably want to spend a few hundred for a second hand bass, and understanding that you gets what you pays for. Have seen the Thomann basses, but thanks for the link anyway; the cheap ones are chinese built laminates, but not heard much about how they play or feel, so that's useful (negative!) feedback about your mate If I cannot find a 2nd hand one, then it may be a new one from Stentor, but i'll keep on looking for a bit longer. cheers iain

  5. Hi there ska fansfans Monday morning is here again... but the good news is it is only 4 days till Thursday's aka-SKA & The Big show! Mar 01 2007, Thu :: Tunnels, Aberdeen :: with The Big :: 4 :: 8pm Doors at 8pm, 4, with DJ Dan spinning reggae and ska until late. First band onaround 9.15. Will there be a new addition to the aka-SKA badge collection? Will the 18-legged aka-SKA machine fit onstage?!   8. hey, mellow bass player available, aberdeen city. 30's, experienced/gigged/recorded/demoed. looking for funk/soul/jazz type collaborators. happy to do covers; important to have a laugh and enjoy some tunes. Been listening to JBs, Funkadelic, blaxploitation-type stuff recently, anyone on this forum with similar interests or ideas(!!), get in touch. cheers i, ps.
