Islet were strangely compelling, Swanton Bombs were utter bilge and, despite the singer obviously toiling, the Campesinos were simply joyous. A full house too. Not bad for a Monday night.

Any inkling of stage times for this? Thinking about coming from Peterhead but it may be late by the time I could get through.
Still keen to know stage times for this. Particularly as the link at the top of the Index page plus tonight's Evening Express both say The Amphetameanies are playing at this. What's going on?????(

The Magazine set that's on just now is better.

A good gig, woefully attended as usual.
The Skints stole the evening from the Boom for me, just as they did with The King Blues at Moshulu a year ago. Looking forward to hearing the album. Did they mention something about being back in Aberdeen in December? Hopefully not on a Monday night then. ?(

Cheers Kirk. Should make it through in time for you guys.

What's the stage times for this please?

This was a fantastic gig, on many levels.
-
Is this gig happening? It's disappeared from the Penetration Myspace page?
-
I'd change your header if I were you. They're now reunited minus one Paul Weller and one Rick Buckler.
-
Can't make it along to this one as I'll be in Holland, but should be along (with a few others) to lend some support when you play the West Coast in Blackpool next month. Presume you'll have copies of the EP there with you.

He's appearing at the Green Man Festival too folks.
-
Yeah, I saw that one too. The fullest I ever remember The Venue. Just bagged tickets for this one too. I'd rather it was anywhere other than the SECC, but hey, it's Doolittle.

Nice one, that's the day after my birthday! Subhumans tore the house down in Glasgow last night, they've still got it alright...
Resounding
Agreed 100% I thought they and Conflict played an absolute blinder.
-
The 7th of August is a Friday and the Subhumans are due to be playing the Rebellion festival in Blackpool that night.

Jamesy and Avril are both still in the Broch. See them at gigs from time to time. Don't have contact details though but could probably get.

What's the crack with tickets for this? The flyer says available from the bar, the barstaff say not on sale yet and that we can't pay now & collect later.

I liked Carter a lot for a while, and those are two damn fine albums they're showcasing. The time they completely stole the Reading Festival from headliners James is up there in my all time top ten gigs. Dunno that they'll have aged that well though. I saw them not that long after the Reading triumph playing (sans drum machine and Jon Beast) to a half full Lemon Tree and thinking they were pretty pish.
Living in the past? What do I know, I'm away to see Magazine on Monday.

Sad news indeed. As a teenage punk rocker, The Cramps introduced me to a genre of music I 'd probably have never looked the way of. I saw them play at The Capitol and the Music Hall back in the day and they were both fantastic gigs. Lux was a brilliant frontman who gave 100% every time. RIP.

first festival experience?
Futurama 1982 at a sports centre in North Wales. The gig was on the ice rink, with camping on the football & rugby pitches. Headlined by The Damned and New Order with the likes of Southern Death Cult, Dalek I, the Comsat Angels, Nico (yes, the Nico), The Alarm, Sex Gang Children and the Danse Society elsewhere on the bill. Fucking great weekend.

Is this still on? It's not mentioned in their recent Myspaz tour bulletin.

Not a Clash fan, but I regret not going to see Suicide
Ha! I wish I could say I was foresighted enough to appreciate them at that early stage but I, as a 15 year old rabid Clash fan, pelted them in gob, beer and broken bits of Music Hall chairs like 90% of the crowd there that night.

Bloody swicks!
I suffered TITP 2004 to be at their "last" gig (which of course turned out not to be their last anyway).
-
First = Eddie & The Hot Rods / Radio Stars / Squeeze @ the Capitol, 1978.
Second = The Clash / Suicide / The Specials @ the Music Hall, also 1978.
The benefits of being an old cunt.
