  1. You people should really read from SOURCE before talking shit, fact is on the bands myspace site tool are not mentioned. End of. Looks like all your flaming and bullshit dont come to nothing. As per usual i guess. Maybe you should look further into the actual truth assholes before looking at second rate sources and trying to make me look small when in reality your the ones who are talking shit

  2. For a start, I've been listening to Tool since 1998 so that's nearly ten years of not knowing what I'm talking about. Maybe tool DO have a sound of their own, but that doesn't mean that other bands aren't influenced by them and sound a bit like them.

Both the End and Tool write progressively structured songs that are based largely on complicated shifting time signatures, whilst retaining a relatively dark and ambient feel to them, and without being too heavy or extreme.

Which band is 'better' is totally irrelevent, but the fact remains that 'Elementary' by the End has many attributes that are very comparable to Tool.

I also wrote a short story that features both bands:

    You are a Tool.

    The End

Then perhaps you would like to back up your statement with actual proof that the band where influenced by tool.

  3. What exactly have I been suckered into? Actually, forget it, you're impossible to talk to because you never actually read any responses to your posts, and to communicate effectively with you I'd have to have a frontal lobotomy or regress to age 10 or something. Carry on, these aren't the droids you're looking for...

Let me remind you again if it slipped your immense iq level!

You pointed out my comment that i called mr maxwell a corporate whore when i was applying sarcasm to the arguement. Fool you for taking that onboard!

  4. Rune, why are you so angry and protective? It's like the whole world is against you even although Dan was simply pointing out that people may dig this band because it has parts that are a bit like Tool.

Your standard to everything is "Your ignorant".

    Rune, your weird.

On a serious note, please tell me where he states that "parts of this are a bit like tool"?

There is no way when you compare the two bands that this is comparable to tool.

As i stated before tool will always have their own sound and not be compared.

  5. mass produce? your joking right?

im not an expert, but most emo and screamo bands are diy/self release or put em on small labels and distros

    you are a complete bufoon

Looks like my sarcasm has washed off your jelly brain. Who is the buffoon again? ;)

  6. Wrong, they reek of their own influences. Cracking band though. And if you're going to pretend quote someone you could at least spell correctly ('allowed' rather than 'aloud', which means something else).

just because other bands inspired them doesnt mean that they sound like one particular band. Just means that tool have combined different styles into something new. Which they have.. If you want to be clever and start a grammar war then you would of obviously known that you cant start a sentence with and. With does nothing to argue the point anyhow. So just get over it

  7. Shit, does that mean if you like Tool you're not allowed to like any other bands ever because they're not comparable? What about Katatonia/A Perfect Circle?

And anyway, I said "for fans of tool", not "check out this band that are as good as tool".

And what are "scene core" lyrics, anyway?

Tool arent comparable with this shit, you seem to think otherwise in your original comment. Yet you seem to think that changing the argument with this "oh arent tool fans allowed to like this" far from your original point and changing your stance, that wasnt the argument in the first place. Why can't you see tool have their own sound? Anyone who compares a band with tool simply does not know what they are talking about. Tool do their own thing end of.

Scenecore = genres like emo/pop punk/hardcore/screamo. Do you not seriously not know what scenecore is?

  8. been driving me mad for ages, but i cant remember that samurai game with the sword that is like house of the dead! This game fuckin kicks ass! After level one i needed a new set of arms lol

Anyone know the name?! Pleeeeeeeeeeeeease! :(

Have also been told that this game is coming onto nintendo wii :) :) :)

I hope so! Would also love fist of the north star arcade game on wii (the one with 100 punch combos and extremely dead arms)!!

  9. See, this is exactly what's wrong. What's wrong with helping someone out randomly? What's wrong with a random act of kindness towards another band? What's wrong with generally doing a bit to improve things for everyone? Hell, why should "like" or "dislike" even come into it? I'd help out someone I disliked if they needed help and I could help them - to not consider helping them would be sheer selfishness.

Let's be honest, the vast majority of people making music aren't making it for themselves. There may be exceptions here and there, but it's essentially a vanity project in a lot of cases - as is most art.

Stripey - you're not relying on anyone though, are you? It's one thing to do your own thing when you rely on absolutely no-one, but another thing to rely on others while only being out for yourself.

As for what industry? Your record shops, your music venues, your equipment shops, it's all part of the same industry. To not support it is asking for it to die, ultimately.

Exactly, the aberdeen scene seems like another example of human greed. Yet another reason why this planet doesn't look after itself the way it should. All these number one fuckers dont realise that working together makes things better. What ever happened to team work and understanding?

  10. Sounds like copying to me!

But, if you're definitely listening to all the new stuff, from every country, and in every style, then well done!! (And not just the same old Bristol/DJ Scene stuff!) I've been enjoying the Magic Carpathian Project, and (although he's hardly new!!!) have enjoyed what I've heard by Pandit Pran Nath, so if you can burn me some of their music that'd be great.

Nice to see that there are people on this board who want to move forward musically and not just resort to same old boring flaming.

  11. I'm not baiting anyone, this is just the facts, it's not my fault if people don't like the truth.

The maryanne hobbs show this weekend on BBC radio 1 was full of tunes from new bristol talent, mixed by bristols DJ Pinch for example. "Breaking through and acheiving national success" is a very ambiguous phrase, some of these people are achieving international success, just because it's not on the telly or in the charts doesn't mean it's not happening.

Why shouldn't we talk about what's going on in other cities, is it because people up here are so afraid of "outsiders" and so on?

I would agree and i also think you seem to know more about the bristol scene more than people on this board. Originality is exactly what this board needs
