  1. Here is the website: http://www.binary-school.co.uk I rarely give myself enough time for promoting and developing an idea so with the extra time from changing dates I'm trying to get everything set up in a good way. Please feel free to make suggestions about website content, I am especially interested if you use Spotify and would like to make a playlist along with some chat about why you like the music. This is perhaps a good way to get involved if you are more of an appreciator of electronic/experimental music rather than performer or DJ. Drop me a line on here or on binaryschooluk@gmail.com if this is something you would be interested in. I will be taking my recording set up - Macbook Pro, Focusrite 2802 and Universal Audio Apollo 16 - to record the show and will try to get some kind of filming on the go too. I would like to build up the multimedia content on the website as much as possible. Again, if anyone fancies a project get in touch. So Binary School 001 live act: 23:00 - 23:40 Autumn Hang 22:00 - 22:40 Protons 21:00 - 21:40 Godzilla Blues DJs: 00:00 - 01:00 5mikes DnB 23:40 - 00:00 Aberdeen City Arts Board 22:40 - 23:00 Aberdeen City Arts Board Ambient, electro, techno (eclectic) 21:40 - 22:00 Aberdeen City Arts Board 20:00 - 21:00 Thought Criminal Upbeat dance, vocal house and electro
  2. Also this: http://www.aberdeen-music.com/topic/55422-binary-school-live-electronica-22214-cellar-35/ I've got a bit of catching up to do on this thread. Going to go back and listen to a few tracks.
  3. Loving this at the moment. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OnuFYYJHaY0 (Its a new track by Warpaint)
  4. I've removed all traces as there was the potential for things to go bad.
  5. We have had to remove one of the artists from our bill due to some extreme political views held and expressed through their music and that there was the possibility of conflict as a result. We apologise for not picking up on this earlier and have taken the action of changing the date of the event to remove any and all association with politics. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. Binary School 001 is now on 22nd Feb 2014
  6. I'm pretty new to playing my electro in front of an audience and I'm keen to get some ideas about how I can improve and develop my own performance. I know there a few bedroom producers on here. Are any of you guys performing live or planning to? It would be a great to see some of you there, get a chance to share experiences and techniques.
  7. Whatever that is it looks terrible.
  8. Just your main presents though?
  9. Damn those babies!! I'm trying to get in as many synth/equipment purchases as possible before I go down that route!
  10. It was an accidental change, I thought I had the ability to change the bit above my avatar. We've still got to have that synth session at some point how is that rack thing you bought working out? Anyone got any reverb plugin recommendations?
  11. The iConnect Midi 2+ interface that you bought ca_gear is sounding more and more like an amazing purchase. I think it will open the door for iPad to run all your softsynths externally freeing up your computer to purely process the sound. If that is the case then we can expect a new swathe of softsynths for tablets/touch devices in the near future. That is amazing news as the quality of the instruments will go up and they will remain as stand alone allowing you to use them straight up without a DAW. Might get myself an iPad now.
  12. Why not save people the bother of looking it up and include a link?
  13. Izotope ozone is really good. I think all of their products are worth a look..http://www.izotope.com/ I used to use this one a lot http://www.pspaudioware.com/plugins/dynamic_processors/psp_vintagewarmer2/ I recently got a Universal Audio Apollo 16 so been messing around with the UAD powered plugins... some of them are outstanding. I really liked the tape machine plugins although only got to use them as demos. They are on the expensive side.
  14. Try http://www.yell.com/biz/keyboard-services-scotland-aberdeen-5635881/ Alan repairs synths and that sort of thing. Worth asking.
  15. It always surprises me that there are so few keyboard players out there or at least folk willing to play in rock/alternative bands. I knew loads of people who played growing up. Perhaps the way it is taught, focusing mainly on classical music, makes it feel daunting taking it into a less controlled environment or maybe folk don't continue playing after school due to expense of owning a digital piano/real piano. Still, guitar players seem to manage! I don't play in cover bands these days but I would definitely recommend anyone who used to play piano or keyboards to try it out. Cover bands are a good starting off point as you don't have write your own material and you can learn how to play piano in a group. All you need these days is a laptop and a USB midi keyboard and you have all the synths, pianos you'd ever need.
  16. I wouldn't fork out if it's for basic recordings. Spend the money on a nice mirophone instead.
